Is he rated? Do we like him?

Personally I think he's a crock o' ****. Pretty boy, true, but mediocre. I saw him once and I thought Audley Harrison was ready to take him. Audley himself said so, but then reasoned that this would put him in with company where he wasn't ready, citing in particular David Tua.

I only saw Mesi's fights against TOS, Barrett and Jirov and was not very impressed. Some skill, some power and weak chin-- thats how I describe Mesi. He was never a world beater
and what some people say how he would manhandle all the top guys is plain retarded. he fits just fine in the bottom of today's top ten.

Pretty fella though... I can see why the money (and decisions) got thrown his way.

Joe Mesi is still a solid top 10 guy but his inability to defend himself has left him on the verge of career suicide.

Mesi is finished. True, he's unbeaten, but he'll never fight again. He got a brain hemotosis, which is bleeding in the brain. If he gets hit again, he can seriously injure himself.

He was a developing heavyweight that had fan appeal which thrust him into the spotlight a little too early (even though he was 30). I was not world beater, but he could have been a Tommy Morrison type fighter that could make for some good fights.

I think Mesi should fight again and he should have MRIs regularly during the preperation. If there is bleeding in his brain after sparring, he shoudn't fight, but just because he wsa at one point injured, that shouldn't result in a lifetime ban.

If he never fights again, that may end up helping his mystique, the same way that Ike going to prison helped his mystique.

I don't think Mesi should ever fight again due to his brain injury he suffered. Mesi needs to relize if he fights he could hurt himself, his family and the sport of boxing.
