View Full Version : What fight was a bigger bust?
Tha Greatest 12-04-2005, 04:44 PM Castillo-Corrales II?
Jones-Tarver III?
Hopkins-Taylor II?
All these were VERY hyped up and none of them lived up to the hype, which one do you consider the biggest bust?
BLOODSHED 12-04-2005, 04:45 PM Without a doubt Castillo-Corrales three. From the whole weight issue to Corrales wreckless fighting. It was such a bust, that they're doing a third fight despite terrible PPV numbers.
Manny_P 12-04-2005, 04:45 PM Castillo vs Corrales II becuz Castillo cheated, THEn LIED about it, and then his doctor got :Pwned bad fo tryin to cover up Castillo's action.
CHICO_4LIFE 12-04-2005, 05:00 PM hopkins / taylor II.... that was SOOOooooOOoooOOOo boring, i was falling asleep watching that! atleat corrales / castillo II was a good fight while it lasted and then there was a HUGE knockout to end it, the hop/taylor fight dragged on for 12 rounds, all they did was dancing around and occasionally throwing a wild shot!
enadeus 12-04-2005, 05:19 PM Hopkins vs Taylor II, everyone expect Hopkins to go for the knockout instead he did the same thing he did the first fight. It was basically the same as the first fight all over again.

only the Hopkins fanbois expected Knockout.

Castillo vs. Corales was a big bust. I thought that fight was going to be another classic. But instead it ended in 4 rounds, maybe the third fight will be better.
JMCbulls 12-04-2005, 06:00 PM id say hop taylor II, boring fight imo
trinidadpr87 12-04-2005, 06:18 PM I'd say Castillo Corrales 2 because lets face it the first Taylor Hopkins fight was boring, what did you expect this time.

A knockout...
Grimgash 12-04-2005, 07:10 PM Most everyone knew there was slim to no chance Hopkins was going to knock out Taylor. Only people who bought into Hopkins saying that believed it. Hopkins Taylor II was a great fight if you like two evenly matched fighters going at it. Some of it was "boring" but do you really think either could have rushed the other over and over and not got destroyed? Castillo-Coralles 2. The weight issue which at fight time wasn't and issue but, just put a damper going into it after all the hype, then it wasn't really able to come close to what the first fight had...so theres my vote.
JMCbulls 12-04-2005, 07:12 PM good point, i was going by which was more boring, instead of what i should have, bigger bust. so, i would go corrales castillo II (even tho it was 100x the hopkins taylor II)

i have no idea why anyone thought hop would ko taylor, it didnt make any sense to me
cotto#1p4p 12-04-2005, 07:57 PM Trinidad vs. Oscar De La Hoya was the biggest bust in boxing history.
Undefeated 12-04-2005, 08:04 PM taylor got tha only good chin hopkins couldnt knock taylor out i dont kno y everyone kept on sayin that.... hopkins mentioned about going to tha body in that fight he fought tha same exact way from tha 1st fight...
winkyisnasty13 12-04-2005, 08:35 PM castillo-corrales was a HUGE bust, it was almost a waste of a fight
I expected Jones-Tarver III to be a bust so that wasn't much of a surpise. I thought Hopkins would be a little more active in the rematch but it wound up being a replay of the first fight..not a terrible fight but a boring one...Corrales-Castillo II was a pretty big bust because they hyped it sooooo much and it was never going to live up to the first one. I think they were all on pretty equal footing as far as being lame for what they were supposed to be.
TheEvilSaint 12-04-2005, 09:57 PM jones tarver III was a robbery for anyone who shelled out $49.95 for this "fight" (myself included). the undercard wasnt noteworthy and the main event was anti-climactic, boring, and neither fighter looked impressive.
at first i thought "im not interested" but on the day of the fight, i thought "its history, why not wintess history?" after the fight, i thought "i will NOT pay for this bull**** PPV".
words cannot describe how robbed i felt.

and I'm wondering why you would think that. seriously, what reason did you have for thinking this would be a terrific fight?

Same reason as every true boxing fan does.
