deuce_drop 12-01-2005, 03:27 AM what is up with the guy he's fighting next? he has the most softest record i've ever seen. Luciano Zolyone (22-0,21 ko's), impressive? look who he's beat, wtf!
http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=023447
cut and paste if you have to.
this is a joke though. briggs aint going to make any kind of noise in the Heavyweight Division fighting guys with soft records like that. damn!!! he should quit wasting his time, and try and cash in on someone with a name as quick as possible. before it's too late for the second time around...
flipside 12-01-2005, 06:00 AM think he can compete with the big boys right now because HW div is an open division.. he should step his agme up!i liked him... i use to think he was going to be something

* Who the hell are you? Briggs is just staying busy as he increases his stock value. By taking a Puerto Rican bout in the off season he keeps his name in the media and has an opportunity to stand out in a venue that seldom features heavyweights.
You know nothing of the talent level of Zalyone, but he could be very dangerous. Maybe had he turned pro in the US with a big contract and big name trainer he could've been a champ. Like I say, who the hell are you?
Leo Pradun 12-01-2005, 10:01 AM this is a stay buissy fight I give him credit he just fough recently also, the guy certainly is trying to get back on top and he looks commited, there are talks of him and sam peter fighting prolly sometime in the spring now that would be a great fight and it will answer a lot of questions, eventhough i favor peter heavily briggs is not as good yet but hes working and he will continue to get better...

badblood 12-01-2005, 11:45 AM Scott Hirsch has been talking about taking Briggs to P.R. to fight Raphael Pedro.
badblood 12-01-2005, 11:49 AM But now it's offical, Briggs has signed to fight Luciano Zolyone in P.R. I guess Scott wasnt lieing.

Me, I'm the Deuce_Drop you jackalope, for starters. second, I'm all about fighters staying busy, but if you go by the opponents record, Briggs is basically fighting a guy who is in his first fight. damn near everyone he has fought has ZERO wins "0" and more than SIX "6" losses.
how can you say this guy would benefit Briggs. this opponent might shock everybody by making a good fight, it could happen, but Briggs should be fighting guys that are a climb up the ladder. Briggs could be fighting guys that have fought other guys that have winning records. all he's fighting when Briggs fights this guy is a club fighter at best.
if he wants to stay busy and keep his name in the news he should be fighting guys that have some what of a name, he should be fighting fringe contenders such as himself.
what's going to happen is he is going to be used to fighting these lower level fighters and he is going to lower HIS level of competition. so when it comes time to really step it up again, he isnt going to be properly prepared.
i like briggs, but fighting guys who fight bums, no bueno....
who am I? I'm your daddy Fignutz!
Hitman932 12-01-2005, 03:52 PM he is fighting three weeks apart, who gives a **** who its against, what a bunch of crybabies.
hes basically getting paid to spar some bum and knock him out, what do you do for money?

In the boxing world, that's all that really matters.

** You're basically having a deuce drop in your shorts over what could be a dangerous heavy in a dangerous fight for Briggs. The fact that you ain't figured out that BoxRec don't have the best records for fighters in Venezuela, Brazil, Columbia, Mexico, ect tells me what you're all about. Either you're a kid or you know as little as a kid.
Case in point is the rough fight Cotto just had with another KO specialist, "Columbian bum," Ricardo Torres that Cotto was lucky to escape in the upright position from. With heavies punching power is even more tricky to consistantly overcome when all it takes is one shot.

Torres at least fought a handful of guys that had wins! and if Torres had more time to prepare he would've won I bet, provided a better strategy. but Luciano Zolyone has only fought one guy with a winning record, actually two guys if you count one of them having a record of 1-0.
do you think that any of the guys he's fought have prepared him to fight on the same level as Briggs, Briggs was at one time a world class fighter, he got that way by beating other contenders and ranked guys, equal opposition. Luciano Zolyone hasn't fought an equal. he's 22-0, 21ko's fighting guys with 0-13,0-16,1-2-1, and thats the majority of of the guys he's fought. get real Nancy
you have to be joking because the fact that you're sticking up for a guy who fights bums, IS A JOKE.
cashing in on no names, hey fine, bills have to paid and food has to be put on the table, but it isnt helping out Brigg's comeback.
and talking smack to me isnt helping anything or helping you because, the facts are facts. just stick to your guns and get worked up because alot of us are laughing at you, you keep with the jokes because your funny London.....

I don't know why there are so many Briggs haters on this forum. George Foreman and Mike Tyson padded their records and built careers off of beating lessor-known opponents. I think that Briggs could be the wild-card in 2006, possibly upsetting some big name contenders and getting a title shot.

I'm not hating, I actually like Briggs. I'm more on the lines as WTF. I personally think that he should be fighting guys that are within the fringe contender status, guys that have a little bit of a name, and guys who have fought other fighters with winning records, or at least fighters that at the 500 mark or above...that's all, no hating, I'm just questioning the whole ordeal.....

I told you so.... dude was a chump because all he's ever fought was ultra chumps... 16 seconds, even if it is incorrect Luciano Zolyone didnt get out of the first round...gaybag...
Keleneki 12-11-2005, 09:08 AM But isn't that how George Foreman built his way to his title shots? Both in his first and second runs at the title. I recollect some in the media criticizing him both times. I don't see anything wrong with Briggs staying busy as he works up to a more formidable opponent down the line.

**Hey, I told you that you'd have a duece drop in your shorts over this fight. Ruiz lasted 19 sec against Tua and running on 6 yrs now with his Don King WBA belt.
I told your filled up shorts that BoxRec ain't gonna have the most accurate records of S American, African, and other fighters but you've got so many logs floating between your ears that you're already full up. At any rate Zoly was in his 6th pro fight when he beat Carlos Barcelete, 17-4-0, so there's one winning record for you to clean soiled self up with.
Like I stated, Briggs got some great press with his performance and was a crowd favorite in an area starved for good heavyweight action. He also got a decent payday, kept himself busy, and goes into the new year knowing his comeback is catching fire. His goal is to stay as busy as possible so's he can be ready on short notice if needed to get his title shot.
Go clean up now junior, before the Boy's Glee Club gets a sniff of you and gives you a new "member"ship.
