There were 20.6 million Mexican-Americans in the country in 2000, up 53% from 1990. Mexicans outnumbered all other Hispanic groups.
Puerto Ricans were the next biggest Hispanic group, increasing 25% to 3.4 million. New York had the largest Puerto Rican population, at 1.1 million, but was also the only state to see a decline among that group (down 3%).
The Cuban population, the third largest group, was up 19%, with the highest growth in the South and West. The Cuban population decreased in New York, New Jersey, Louisiana and the District of Columbia.
Nearly 5% of all other Hispanics in 2000 were from Central America, and 4% were from South America.

Will not make much of a political difference anyway. These people will be in low paid jobs with not much political participation. New York will still be in the hands of the Jewish Lobby.
