View Full Version : Epic Mickey Walker biography
Integrital 02-23-2012, 10:22 PM Here's part 1 of a piece I wrote on Mickey Walker for Queensberry-Rules.com. Apologies if this is viewed as spam, but I thought some of the history junkies might dig it:
http://queensberry-rules.com/2012-articles/february/victoria-aut-mors-mickey-walker-part-i.html
I realize he has a book and that his life has/had been covered extensively, but I compiled this based mostly on newspaper articles written by people actually covering the fights, and I tried to avoid memoirs and biographies as much as I could.
Thanks for reading.
Integrital 02-27-2012, 02:32 AM And here's Part II:

Thanks again for reading.
rob snell 02-29-2012, 07:42 AM what a quality piece of work this sure is mate and it is by chance a topic that I have been working on in recent weeks. When i have it completed it will be sent out as one of my newsletters etc and following this it would be good to combine them into a document for my biographies site.
If we can share our source material that would be interesting, so tell me what you think
cheers
Barnburner 02-29-2012, 11:20 AM Saved it to my bookmarks, looks awesome. Will read through it later.

Much of the source material I either quoted or referenced, but I do have some stuff I'd be happy to share.

Thanks, much appreciated.
And here's Part III, the final installment of the lengthy piece.
Thanks again!

Integrital 03-03-2012, 12:48 AM Not sure if anyone is interested, and sorry to keep plugging myself here, but I've also been doing some stuff on Facebook and Twitter that some history heads may like:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Boxing-History/298544626871736
and
https://twitter.com/#!/BoxingHistory
Basically I update with fights that happened on "this day in history" or whatever, but I also try to post either fight links or screenshots of the post-fight reports if possible.
But either way, thanks guys. Not sure what I'm working on next, but I'll post it here if that's cool.

Was an admin for MaxBoxing for years and used to do videography and interviews every so often for Max and BoxingScene for a while, but a few crappy experiences turned me off and Max became a ghost town. Now I do most of my discussion on Twitter and Facebook, but I didn't post here much because for a while it seemed like a free for all with all the yelling about "*****s" and "*******s" and all that. I do read when I can though.

Understandable. I try to keep this section troll free now with a minimum of insults and a zero tolerance policy on anything racist. With the help of most of the regulars this is the best section to have a decent debate and learn something new on this forum in my opinion. It makes the section a slower than the main section, but I prefer quality over quantity myself. Will look forward to hopefully having you post more and will be sure to check out your other links.
tenPt 03-05-2012, 06:45 AM Very imformative story on Micky Walker. Thank you.
