Does maga pixel really mean a lot?

buddy i think the higher the mega pixel, the better the quality of the pics, if you see 4-6 with the same price of 8, maybe the brand plays up the price....
i am no expert with cameras, so ignore what i said, he he he...
just gave you some good karma, happy new year!!!
The1God 01-01-2005, 07:02 PM Cool and thank you. I want to take family pics and action stuff. They both take memory cards too. Thanks for the Karma

diz82 01-01-2005, 08:30 PM Depends what you want the camera for....a 3 or 4 mega pixel camera is perfect even if you wanna print up to A4 size photos. Anything higher is a waste unless your gonna use the digital zoom to magnify images. Just make sure its got at least a 3x optical zoom and any 3/4 mega pixel camera should do!

i totally agree...but if there's not big difference in price, go for at least 5mp so you don't have to upgrade much sooner. you can get one for around $360. i've got an olympus c-5050 and i love the camera. i bought it when it was still expensive around $600. you can get the next higher end olympus c-6060 for $450 but iits 6mp. also, there is not a lot of difference in the resolution/quality of pictures taken by digital cameras that are 2 mp apart.
look for digital cameras with higher optical zoom, digital zoom is useless if you wanna blow up your pics. check also cameras that uses both cf and sd cards and can hold higher capacity storage.
good brands are olympus, nikon and canon. the first one has better cost/quality ration that's why i picked it. believe me, it took me a 3-month research before i bought mine. good luck!
The1God 01-02-2005, 02:04 PM Is there a difference in the type on mameory it takes? I see that some take flash and other kinds... Sorry about all the qusetions, but I don't want to waste my $$$$
The1God 01-04-2005, 09:48 AM Bump.... I need to get this thing this week. Just need to know about memory. I was bidding on one from eBay and didn't pay attention to it, it was an 8 mega-pixel and went for $175. Is that a good price, I will check for more.

I recommend a fuji or canon, Stick with 3megapixel if you are not doing anything fancy, will print up to 8x10 in perfect quality. Optical zoom is a plus as Digital zoom drops the quality each time used.
One thing that goes unlooked in purchasing a digital camera is the shutter speed, I have had some 4-5 megapixel digital cameras with very slow shutter speed and if you so much shake your hand a bit while taking a picture the photo will become blurry VERY BLURRY!
Fuji a210 is a great camera and can pick one up on ebay brand new for about 120 us dollars. Canon is a great choice as well.
Media can be expensive, Fuji takes xd which is quite pricey but most take flash memory and is rather cheap, Although stay away from Sony cameras they are ****.
http://www.tigerdirect.com sells media pretty cheap that would be in any bodies budget.
Dont go below 3megapixels and you will be fine and no ghetto brand either shutter speeds are usually horrible.
Also you will NEED rechargeable batteries as Digital Cameras suck the **** out of them you can pick up a 4 pack with charger for 10 bucks at walmart.
The1God 01-04-2005, 10:28 AM That works for me, thank you dude!
What about the different memory cards? Last q!!!!

Almost all flash is the same, Compact flash has the most memory and the cheapest price...Any will do you good. I have used compact and xd and I am more satisfied with Compact flash due to it's cheaper price...
Here is photos I had took last year with my camera, the pics have been resized, great pics though.

That was my Canon, The Fuji camera I have now does exactly the same work and also 3 megapixels.
