WBA and IBF Featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez initially allowed his natural testosterone or Mexican machismo to get the better of boxing common sense, in his first encounter with Philipino phenomenon Manny Pacquiao.
The result was that in a torrid first round, he got well and truly socked. It took three painful visits to the canvass for Marquez to grasp the fundamental essential, that in these particular circumstances, his abilities were far more suited to the role of matador. And that trying to bull his way through Pacquiao’s murderous lefts, had placed him on the horns of an imminent dilemma. Once this realization had struck home- in more ways than one, he managed to gradually claw his way back to achieve a draw.
Having clung to his titles by a proverbial whisker, Marquez is determined to avoid the triple whammy this time round, and to lick Pacquiao in their much anticipated re-match showdown in Las Vegas on February 26th. [details (http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=468)]

Marquez is doing something that all his fans and family expects from him. I'm also happy he's doing some rugged training.
This can only mean that he's fighting Pacman in February. This is good, very good for Pacman and his fans. I've waited a long time to see this rematch!!!!

I really want to pick Pac in the rematch, but I don't know Marquez seemed like he knew how to handle him towards the end of their first fight. I would have to give Marquez the edge going into the rematch but for me its just about to close to call.

If Pacquiao comes in shape, he blows Marquez out. If he comes in the kind of shape he did last time, we're going to the cards. If Marquez gets any stupid ideas that he's gonna back Pacquiao up, he goes in 5 or less.
