Mc****ingBride sounds like the name of a breakfast sandwich from McDonalds.

I truly believe that Tyson can become champion once again if he gets his act together. If Tyson had more guidance, he would have been something serious.
Tyson becoming champion at this point in his career is very unlikely, not because of his old age, but because he doesn't have the hunger anymore. His head is not in the game anymore. I remember once he said, "I'm not in this game. I'm here physically, but if I was in this ****ing game all these ****ing guys would be ****ing dead, and their mother's would be running into the ring crying because I knocked them unconcious."
I honestly believe that if he can get his act together he can clean out the division. Knocking out anyone they put in front of him. The guy just has that much talent.

I have it on tape also. McBride just survived and Mike got tired. Thats all that happened I agree. Its not like McBride beat Tyson up.

You know you are completely shot when that's all it takes to beat you.

Tyson, sorry guys, will be nothing more than a steppingstone should he continue to fight.

Isn't Tyson supposed to be the hardest puncher ever (never was) ?

How come he couldn't KO a big ol' stiff he was apparently working over ?

He is 39 years old and has been fighting for like 20 years. He is past his prime, and a 6'5 280lb. man is hard to hit in the head.

Taking Tyson's shots is all he needed to do. I told everyone that Tyson's power was starting to fade after he fought Williams. Just a few years ago Williams and McBride would of both went down from Tyson's punches.

Come on now he lost to Kevin McBride. No matter if he was winning on the scorecards or not he still lost. Tyson is finished.

My point is....

He's so shot, even his once awesome power has lessened.

"He just needs to be dedicated".

First of all...it will take a lot more than that.
Secondly, he is mentally finished, & has been for a long time. He's not turning that around. Impossible.

C'mon.....if Tyson cold****s Tarver (a lt. heavy) in quick fashion....all of his nuthuggers will start claiming "HE'S BACK".

A victory over Tarver will prove nothing, but will get his loonies going nuts, all over again.

.....On a side note. Has anyone ever wondered why most of Tyson's fans on these boards are 21 or younger? Hell, alot of them are like 15-17. Why does he seem to corner the market on the teeny bopper crowd? Young impressionable kids today. Was it Tysons punchout? Most of his fans were like 3-5 years old or not even born when he was in his supposed prime.

I never said anything about that, all I said was Tyson is capable of KOing a blown up, 37 year old light heavyweight.

Tyson does not have the desire to become a champion anymore. Therefore, he will never be a champion again, whether he has the skills or not. I've been saying that for years.

It's too bad, he is one of my favorites of all time.

Tyson's power has always been overrated, IMO his handspeed is where the KOs came from. Even early in his career, there were a few guys that stood in front of him and just let theirselves be hit. Even then, some of them took bodyshot after bodyshot, for much longer than one would think they could if the Tyson myth ever had a chance of being a reality. Remember the Neilsen fight?
Tyson never came close to hurting Brian to the body, in spite of "intentionally" coming in at almost 240 lbs. to gain leverage on his punches. The only crown Tyson is gonna get is in a bottle that comes in a purple bag lol

If tyson goes the george foreman route and seriously dedicates himself to training and gets his peek a boo style working again and starts off fighting tomato cans to get his confidence back and works his way up to fighting contenders as he becomes fitter and gets rid of the ring rust then he can beat any of the current champs with ease but he would have to fight every month to get his sharpness back and to build on it but sadly tyson dosne't have the desire to do this he is a broken man, tysons has the speed and power to becme champ but he dosent have the desire or determination and once a fighter is fighting for the sole purpopse of paying their debts there are not going to have the motivation to train to put themselves in a position to get the title back .

Haven't read all this thread, but at this stage of his career (the guy's an old man, he should have retired ages ago) I can't see him beating a big man. McBride is technically bad, but he can take shots and his chin's out of range. Tyson's only a four-round (if that) fighter these days.

BUT - if Tyson could work a path correctly I believe it's not impossible for him to unify and then get the Hell out quick.

Picture it - Brewster (who would maim Tyson) is decisioned by Byrd or someone. Could happen. Wlad doesn't make it either. All Tyson's got left is the little people. He could possibly take Ruiz at this stage, possibly take an old Byrd, possibly take the thoroughly mediocre Hasim Rahman.

What am I saying? He's done.

Tysons time in the spot light has been fading, and quite honestly has faded out with any knowledgable boxing fan. The whole reason that Tyson is still in the picture is because the common person on the street believes that he is still the terrorizing fighter that he was in the late 80's and early 90's.

Tyson has been a mediocre fighter since being released from prison for his rape conviction. He has shown very little honed skill and even less heart in his bouts since he again became a free man.

But was he ever free at all? With all of the debt that he has incurred, he has to continue fighting, whether he likes it or not. How else could he possibly repay the debts that overshadow his world.

It comes down to this, as a fighter Tyson is done. He will not recapture the title or any of his past glory. Its the story told too many times of a fighter that was well past his prime but still remained a drawing card. Tysons skill is gone, his legs are gone and his endurance is gone. The only thing that remains of the Tyson of old is his drawing power of the common man. Once the common man figures out that Tyson is done he will be just that, done. No longer able to attract the live gates or the pay per views any longer. Part of me hopes that he doesnt finish his career as Joe Louis did, sliding unconcious through the ropes to the ring apron. But then again, I believe that a bigger part of me does.

thats very interesting, it seems as some off his biggest fans are young boys like miketyson jr who dont realy knows boxing but has seen some tyson high lights and got impessed.

easy mistake to do.

afterall tyson is the biggest star in that generation.

Your right, it was kind of out of line. But I have just found it hard to respect him the same since he left Cus and got with King. The man had the world by the balls and let it slide, I find it hard to have pitty on the man.

However, from a professional point, if I was to ever ref a fight of his I would have the same care and compassion for him as I would any other fighter. I dont like to see fighters taking beatings after the fight is basically over. However, if Tyson decides to continue fighting I can not control that, he will get hurt.
