New Orleans police are searching for suspects in a shooting that left one man dead and another seriously wounded as they drove on an Algiers street early Wednesday morning.

Police were withholding the identities of the victims until family members could be notified.

The men were riding in a white Chevrolet Impala about 3:15 a.m. when they were shot at the intersection of Mardi Gras Boulevard and Bodenger Street, police said. A 26-year-old man was killed, a 29-year-old man was wounded and a third man in the car was uninjured. Both men who were hit suffered multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

Officers said the men were driving east on Mardi Gras Boulevard when a black Ford F150 truck approached, and the people inside opened fire. Police Department Capt. Marlon Defillo said police are investigating what led to the shooting.

No the cops haven't caught them at this time, and no bullets hit my house but the whole side of the car the guys who were shot in was riddled with bullets, it was an automatic assault gun - maybe an Uzi, perhaps an AK 47, it was very loud and very deep for a gunshot sound, not like some little 22 caliber popping sound, this was like a cannon going off really fast. I thought I heard about 10 to 12 rounds, but the cops said it was twice that many...

Man that's scary. I hear a lot about stray bullets doing damage to people inside their houses, sometimes killing em. Too much violence these days.... :(

thats scary ****. Glad to hear the pipes are safe.

I had a similar deal happen to me. I don't know if anyone remembers at game seven of the Angels-Giants World Series when someone was killied in the parking lot during the game? After the game I go to my truk to finish off the buffalo wings and Coors light. Cops rushed me and my friend and contained us. We had no clue what was going on. As it turned out, my truck was covered in blood and I was a murder suspect. They taped off my truck and held us there untill around 1 am untill they determined our stories were legit. I was questioned by police, crime unit, gang unit etc.

what a trip that was. The blood trail started at my truck. Ended up being a gang thing.

hello...I have had a close call of death also in my birthplace.it's still fresh in my memory because it happened on a december 25.a drank man holding a .38 caliber was trying to pull his gun's trigger which was pointed towards me, but to my luck, the revolver (we call it in the philippines 'paltik', a homemade gun) just got stocked up...so i ran, and the next thing that happened, i heard a gun shot not far from where i'm hiding, and there lies the body of one of our barrio mates..he was hit in the forehead..and again i saw 3 responding policemen trying to stop the drank man, but the drank man just ran, and in an instant, one of the village people, who has a gun, fired at the drank man, who also just fell down like a hunted deer..and there came the angry people from our village, one lifted a big stone, and dropped it at the head of the dead drank man...it was really like a mafia movie in personal..the police, they just kept quiet, and no charges were issued...and after at least 15 minutes, there comes the car from a funeral parlor, whom i think is very happy because he hit 2 jackpots in one time, 2 dead people to buy coffin from him..i know the personally the owner of the funeral parlor, because my he and may cousins were drinking beer at the back of our house when the incident happened...it's really terrible in my birthplace, where different tribes cannot go along well with each other..when i was a child, i saw 2 members from a tribe running after another member from a different tribe with their bolos, screaming some dialects i can't understand...

This shooting didn't bother me too much, I mean you don't want to hear gunshots while you are sitting at your computer desk.

But I had another incident that happened to me down on Bourbon Street, when we had some trouble with a group of guys and had to throw them out of our club, a large fight went down in the street. We came out on top and let the guys go - **** happens when you have booze and tourists - but these guys were locals and instead of taking their ass kicking and calling it a night, they had to pull up to myself and a co-worker and friend of mine "Teddy". We had gotten off work and were walking a waitress to her car when they pulled up.

I saw my friend Teddy suddenly reach into the car and yell something though I couldn't hear what he said, before I could even decide if Teddy was actually in trouble, the guy in the passenger seat pops out of the passenger window and pulls out a 9mm pistol and starts busting caps at us over the roof of the car. We are literally 6 feet from the gun at most.

I saw my buddy Teddy start to dive and I dove right at the same time, he went right, I went left. The shooter emptied the clip on us and bullets were flying everywhere, I could hear them as they bounced of the buildings and sidewalk all around me. Before I hit the ground I felt something warm and wet hit my face, I didn't know what it was, but when I brought my hands to my face I saw pink and blood. With all the adrenaline pumping I didn't feel any pain but when I started to get up as the car pulled off with tires smoking, I looked at Teddy and he wasn't moving. As I got to him I saw blood gushing out of the top of his head about 4 inches with every heartbeat. I tried to cover the wound, but I knew he was a dead man, as I sat there holding my friend and trying to keep the blood in it was like the world stopped and it was just Teddy and me in the middle of the street.

It seemed like an eternity, but an ambulance finally arrived to take him to the hospital the whole time I would tell Teddy to look at me and he would open his eyes, but when I told him to squeeze my hand he didn't, and he never spoke a word. When I finally looked up, the police had put up a tape barricade and there were hundreds of people staring at me and Teddy - I never realised the cops were there, and I didn't even notice all the people just 15 yards away.

The cops asked me if I felt any pain and I said no - why? He pointed at my coat and said I was lucky, they took the coat for evidence, I later found out that the bullet that went through Teddy's head had hit me in the shoulder but it didn't get through to my body. The pink and blood I had on my face and chest was from Teddy as his brains were blown on me when he got shot through the head. Teddy was pronounced dead 4 hours later at the hospital.

The killers got away with it, and are walking the streets of New Orleans to this day - except for one - he got killed in another gang related incident a year or two later, at least that's what it said in the newspaper....

Yeah, I live just blocks away from the Fisher Projects, I am the only white boy on my block, everyone must think I am crazy around here, and I always make it a point to show off my Doberman as I put him through his paces in the front yard. Nobody tries to mess around my house, but just the same I have iron bars on the windows and doors. You have to around this area...

Yet another killing on Bourbon Street this week, this time a tourist who was in town for a national flag football tourney, litteraly strangled to death by the thugs - I mean "bouncers" at a bar called Razzoo's. Another tourist got it all on video tape so now Razzoo's is in deep ****, as the video shows 3 bouncers on one skinny college kid, they have him on the ground and one guy has a "sleeper" type choke hold on the guy for about 40 to 45 seconds, by the time he let go the kid was dead. That is a damn shame, I hope the kids' family ends up owning the joint for this tragedy....

A man was shot 30 yards away from the place where I live. He was walking his dog on the street at about 8pm, and he just got shot for no apparent reason. This happenned before Christmas.

I walk this street every work-day at about 10pm.

holy ****! that's a rough one, i've seen lots of violent crime up close and personal ( i sort of grew up on the streets ) but never like that, a couple of years ago on Boxing day a cabbie got carjacked almost right in front of my house though, ( i don't live in a particularly rough neighborhood ). now that i think of it, i also came real close to getting shot when a two guys were brawlin right in front of me in a bar, and one of them pulled a gun. it turned out me and that dude ( he was a local gangster) were sort of enemies ( long story - but it involved a girl ), but the cops got there before he could start shootin
