Can't say I didn't see that coming. I agree that Brock will go back to WWE. I don't know though man that match left an unsatisfied feeling for me.

brock didn't look motivated at all to be in there and the retirement announcement made it make sense he had no intentions of fighting 2nite. so don't be too excited about overeem beating an unmotivated lesnar.

:pat:

really good fighters always make their opponents look like they aren't doing much.

watch the fight again and focus on Lesnar's effort. You'll see that he tried his best and missed a lot of big punches and even landed a couple of good punches that didn't do much damage.

Reem's striking skills are light years ahead of Lesnar's. It was like a boy fighting a man. Lesnar couldn't do anything.

I was never a fan of Lesnar in the ufc. I thought of him as a person that was just in the ufc to bring ratings.

Brock Lesnar has always been a garbage MMA fighter. He is afraid to get hit and lacks technical skills.

Glad Brock lost again.

Proves you can't just jump into MMA just because you're big & athletic.

Brock seemed very hesitant after the 1st takedown attempt...I have a feeling he knew the Reem had his number.

You do realize he was at one point the UFC heavyweight champ?

Yes, But do you honestly think he could really get in the ring with any of these guys at this level. It shows you as he was champ for a short time he would rush you grab you and bash your head in witch worked, but once his game plan was outted so was his time in the UFC the talent difference in striking is just to much for him to adapt and we all know he doesnt like being hit at all.

Yeah he was limited but the way people talk about him you would think he was worse than Kimbo.

Haha nah no one is that bad guy could hit like a tank but another one dimensional fighter that couldn't adjust to the talent he would have to fight in the UFC Strikeforce ect.

I wanted to see a good fight :(.
Brock's very one dimentional. He did look scared to get hit, Think thats because years of striking was missing.
Thought it was a bit lame that he went for the belly though were Brock had 2 life saving surgerys, one recently thou :/.

One of my friends trained at Brock's camp for a bit... Weirdest sh*t he ever told me was that in sparring, sparring partners were not allowed to hit Brock in the face.

Crazy huh you would figure he would wanna get hit everyone that knows anything knows the guy has no chin whats so ever I bet if he worked on it and wasnt see easy to beat up on his feet might put a different fear in people that just stay aways from the take down and stick and move works to perfection!

Yeah man... I don't get it.

It would be cool if we got to see him give MMA his all, but he got started too late.

bull****.

lesnar was very motivated for this fight, more than most other fights hes had imo including fighting for the title. the mir rematch is the only time hes wanted it more than this imo.

then he got hit..

he caught a panic attack when carwin hit him, he quit when velasquez hit him and when he felt overeems power i could almost feel his heart melting inside his chest. brock isnt a fighter, wrestling and pro wrestling doesnt prepare you mentally for a real combat sport.

overeem knew lesnar was soft so he went to the body right from the get go, knowing nothing tests a mans spirit like a good bodyshot. lesnars spirit failed.

I don't even know how he could go back to the WWE, to be honest.

It's kinda hard to build up a guy as a wrecking machine when everybody on the planet has watched him get utterly embarassed in legit fights on live television 3 different times. Almost 4 if you count how close Carwin was to prolapsing him.

All it takes for a hyped up monster like to that lose all that appeal is one loss. See : Tyson/Douglas.

But at least Tyson wasn't afraid of being hit. Infact, he enjoyed it. Can't say the same for Lesnar.....at all. Everytime he gets hit clean he reacts like a toddler.

Makes sense too me the only thing he may have going for him is that there isnt nearly as many MMA fans compared to WWE guys like us would know the he was a joke in a real fight but how many of the 7-15 year old kids who loved this guy and get there parents to still go and watch him all the little things and the adults who watch WWE already sh1t is fake and most likly dont give a dam anyway.

That's a fair point, as well.

I will say Lesnar does have a certain innate appeal. I mean, I watched every fight he had in the UFC. And I can't stand the UFC or Dana White. Granted I was watching his fights because I dislike his personality, think he's an overrated ****bag, and only watched so I could see him get beaten to a pulp. But still....I watched.

Pat Barry says he punches Brock in the face during training all the time, hard too. I think Vanderlei was spot on with his prediction though. He says it takes a long time to learn to accept a punch and keep your eyes open.....

Predictable he did, Overeem is a prime good sized HW and a real fighter at that while Brock though big and strong is more a now failed marketing tool.

ummm, he was a HW champion by his 4th career fight. so no, him losing to top tier fighters in Cain and Reem doesn't prove anything.

I still think he could be a threat if he continued to dedicate himself to mma and building his skill instead of fighting once a year like he has for his last couple of fights.

Swizzy most of the time your on point or make a valid point some where but this one come on what makes you think Brock could really fight at this level from what we have seen so far he just doesnt have the training or the heart imo. I mean what would he need another year of learning how to box and take a punch he just doesnt have it and tbh I like dude.

You're a big enough fight fan to know that the most useless quotes come from trainers and training partners in the media.

Brock had already discussed the possibility of retirement from MMA with his immediate family and besides, that deal he brokered with WWE last year to have his likeness in any WWE merchandise had to mean something. Looks like we could well be seeing him back doing moonsdaults from atop of a turn buckle.

All things aside, I do however tip my hat off to him for at least trying and training with the most minimal.

What did you expect when an over hyped Zuffa can goes up against an experienced and top level Pride fighter?

Brock should have developed his standup game and trained with the best kickboxers, instead of training with the same American C-level kickboxers. If Brock trained with Golden Glory, he wouldnt be running away from punches, afterall getting hit in sparring by Sergei, Overeem, and Schilt would probably hurt more than any JDS or Cain punches. And I know that Golden Glory has some intense sparring sessions.

that was exactly my point. I said IF he had been fighting and training consistantly throughout the year he would be a much better fighter than he is. Many fighters have had tremendous changes from the beginning of their careers to the end. But Brock just didn't fight regularly enough to stay focused and sharp.

A lot of lesser fighters have accomplished big things in MMA. Fighters with less wrestling cridentials and far less strength, speed and athletic ability for their size. So its only natural to think that brock could have done a lot more if he didn't have so many set backs in the last couple of years.
