View Full Version : Today's 15 Round Fighters
oldgringo 12-30-2004, 12:14 AM Since the 15 round fight has been done away with for some time now, many fights could have been altered with surprisingly different outcomes had the fight gone 15 rounds. Some say 12 rounds is enough time to get a good fight, some say it's not enough time. Some say 15 rounds was too brutal.
Which of today's fighters do you think could fight strongly for 15 grueling rounds. I only think there are a few notable fighters who have the chops to fight 15 at a championship caliber level. James Toney, Erik Morales, Bernard Hopkins, and Juan Manuel Marquez come to mind immediately. What do you think?
dodge 12-30-2004, 12:16 AM James Toney and Holyfield for sure a few years back.

Sir_Jose 12-30-2004, 12:27 AM Toney and Hopkins could fight for 20 rounds there just so relaxed and calm in the ring.
I would also add Ivan Calderon to that list.
julDilla 12-30-2004, 12:29 AM Huh, no Pacman...
but at the same need to be affective going all those rounds
IwatchBoxing 12-30-2004, 12:33 AM Trinidads made for 15 rounds, as well as Hopkins.
bpapa420 12-30-2004, 12:38 AM Pac man is the only one that comes to mind

JaNnO 12-30-2004, 01:26 AM but at the same need to be affective going all those rounds
what about pacmab and pac-jmm? looked grueling to me...although i must admit that most pac fights didn't last more than 5 rounds because he knocks them out early in the fight.
pimpin2 12-30-2004, 02:58 PM Hopkins n Congo Toney
Chups 12-30-2004, 03:03 PM Juan Manuel Marquez and Pacman.

calderon is like a 20 round fighter mo fo neva gets tired.
Tito, Pacman, MAB, EM, and PBF come to mind. But 15 rds i think maybe DLH worst nightmare.
drag0n_ 12-30-2004, 05:11 PM No one mentioned Ricky Hatton?
If there's one world class thing he undoubtedly has... It's stamina and Ricky's got one hell of a workrate to go with it too!
Clay AikSkins 12-30-2004, 05:14 PM Diaz....you saw the pace he set against sims. That dude never gets tired.
Hopkins is the most economic fighter out there, he could probably go 20 rounds at that pace.
AintGottaClue 12-31-2004, 10:19 AM Sturm could go 15 rounds
Hmmm i think maybe Byrd could box for 15 rounds and i think Ruiz is able to hug for 15 rounds :D
Great 12-31-2004, 12:05 PM Pacman. Great stamina.
Solo322 01-19-2005, 09:47 PM Hopkins, the guy is inhuman, never gets tired
THRILLAinmanila 01-19-2005, 09:48 PM Barrera & Morales
davico 01-19-2005, 10:14 PM KT could go 30 if he had to, he and Nard are the most patient and well prepared boxers in the world
jack_the_rippuh 01-19-2005, 10:26 PM Chris Byrd's got my vote along with Toney an Hopkins.
SweetScience 01-19-2005, 10:52 PM Tyson in a span of 10 fights.
bonafuwa 01-20-2005, 01:08 AM 15 round fighters today? (1)Definitely Hopkins: no one pressures him to increase his work rate. He just sets his own pace and goes on and on and on.
(2)Kasim Ouma: Dude just puches in bunches for 12 rounds. Great stamina.

enegue 01-20-2005, 07:40 AM Pacman could easily be on the list as attested by Roach.
.::|ULTIMATE|::. 01-20-2005, 07:51 AM Antonio Margarito trains specifically for the 15 rounds. Jose Luis Castillo also seems like he can go 15 rounds when he prepares right.
