This is what I had thought too.

Folks often think it was more because they remember Louis being hurt or staggered in other fights.....but he only was down five times in anything like his prime. Walcott and Marciano came towards the end of his career.

Out of 21 times patterson probably got up 18 - 19 times. Hate all you want he was basically a MW with a steady diet of steak and eggs to make HW. Still my favorite of all time.

You all think I'm racist, floyd patterson is my idol. If I could be half the man patterson was i'd be happy.

Your right, he was only counted out twice during his career, both times by Liston.

I met Patterson several times and once I sat next to him on the Dias of the New Jersey Boxing (http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104006#) Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies for over 4 hours. This was about 30 years ago and he was asked to make one of the presentations. He asked me if I knew anything that he could say about the honoree. I told him not to worry, as I wrote down everything he would have to say, and I even stood in back of him while he was talking, telling him what to say. After he made his presentation, he came back to his seat and thanked me so much.

I thought that was Great! Here a former 2 time Heavyweight Champion of the World, saying Thank you to me. He was so nice. We talked almost the hold time.
