The list of viable candidates for 2004's fighter of the year has changed rather drastically. Gone are Erik Morales and Antonio Tarver. In their place is Barrera and Glen Johnson. So I ask, who is it now?

I am gonna have to vote for Glen Johnson. I mean, he finished Roy Jones' career and became light heavyweight champion. He also came from NOWHERE!!!

I agree 100%, Glen Johnson has had an amazing year. Not many people thought he would beast Roy or Tarver and he proved all the critics wrong. Nice one Glen :cool:

Its gotta be Glen Johnson hands down. A year ago he was fighting on friday night fights, now hes light heavyweight champ. He beat Clinton Woods and won the IBF title, KO'd Roy Jones, then beat Tarver all in one year. I've been looking over Johnson's record a little and I see why they call him the road warrior, the guys been everywhere. He's fought mad guys in their hometowns, like Sven Ottke in Germany, Silvio Branco in Italy and Omar Shieka in Philly, etc. and lost close unanimous and majority decisions.

I pick Corales, beat his rival Casamayor and beat an undefeated Frietas

Corrales...Glen beat an overrated Tarver and a finished Jones Jr, Lucky for Corrales that Trinidad only fought once this year...Trinidad-Mayorga best fight of the year.

Chico is the easy choice for FOTY. Casamayor and Freitas were championship-level fighters, in their respective primes, and Chico whipped 'em both.

Glen Johnson is an old man who beat 2 other old men. he gets the Senior Tour MVP, but is NO fighter of the year candidate.

i can definatly see the case for Corrales, he'd probably be my number to pick. But no other fighter elevated himself as much as johnson this year. Going into the fight with jones he was just the guy that got ko'd by hopkins. After it he was just the guy who ko'd a shot champion. Then he beat tarver and that finally legitmized him as a quality fighter.

i also agree...sharp rise in standing this year...beat two world-class fighters if you consider tarver as one.

Glen Johnson...I never even heard of him before the Roy Jones fight but after see him beat Roy and see his awesome performance against Tarver I have nothing but respect for his work ethic. Chico may have fought better competition (debatable) but Johnson is the much better story.
