View Full Version : Vitaliy steps down like a man. Good luck to Vitaliy.
Haters were calling out Vitaliy to vacate the belt.
Vitaliy just did. Injuries have ended his career.
Props to Vitaliy for doing this. Good luck to him in his post-fight career.

I agree, he tried to bring back the HW div back to what it used to be but too many damb injuries to his body. I wish him luck and hope he stays healthy.

its pretty sad that we couldn't see more of him....
i really wanted to see him stamp himself as a legitimate champ......i respect him a lot, but a person who wins a vacant belt and then defends it once against a non-ranked opponent just isn't enough for me to hold him high up there.....
it is sad and we wish him all the best in the future...
moochi 11-09-2005, 10:28 AM also, what an idiot......why didn't he just fight and get his $8million...at least he would have deserved that......
also, what an idiot......why didn't he just fight and get his $8million...at least he would have deserved that......
...Because he knew he couldn't perfrom due to the injuries. What a class move not to rob the public like that. You think any of the other heavyweights have that much class and dignity?

yes of course you are right, but i just think he would have deserved the money.....but the main reasons why i respect him was because he was/is a gentleman.....a real gentleman............i was praying that one day i would see him KTFO toney...
Derranged 11-09-2005, 10:36 AM Is there any way to verify that his knee is torn? And if so, would that shut the haters up, at least about the "fake injury" allegations?

...Yep, what a shame. Wlad should draw inspiration from this and really step up his game and just take the **** over.
BLOODSHED 11-09-2005, 11:29 AM Man, Rahman scared him so badly. All praise to Rahman!

That's what's not going to happen...Wlad sould draw some insprartion and just retire also, because I gurantee rahman will knock him silly he they ever fight...
Kid Achilles 11-09-2005, 12:05 PM Great thread. Finally someone with an ounce of common sense. Rahman or James Toney would simply sit on their belt and wait for their leg to heal, freezing up the heavyweight division completely. Vitali did the right thing by retiring and vacating his belt.
One of the last class acts in the division takes his leave.
kallsop 11-09-2005, 12:50 PM The WBC gave him one week to meet with their designated doctor, or get stripped. So he retires and won't have to see the doctor. How convenient.
Want to buy the Brooklyn Bridge from me, I've got two!
I don't know the truth, nobody on this forum does, but I'm not buying what they're selling without VERIFICATION. You can take it hook, line and sinker if you wish, and more power to you.
Stiv Rex 11-09-2005, 01:01 PM okay, so maybe his knee was a little screwed up, so what?? if a football or basketball guy can come back, and their job involves RUNNING nonstop, then how come a boxer cant? i think its a bunch of bull****.
i didnt think vitaly was ducking rachman, i still think he would beat him, but this is ridiculous. he quits because of another injury? take the six months to recover, do a 2 month training camp, fight a tuneup, then start all over setting up a fight with rachman.
this is the difference between a european fighter and an american. you know hes got a lot of some type of heart. his face was opened up like there was a zipper on it against lewis, but he punks out against sorry ass chris bird with a hurt shoulder. now this with rachman.
what is the matter with this guy? i dont think he deserves to be the champ, no matter who he beats.

AMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNN!
Rahman retired Vitali KleeeschckHOE.
Stiv Rex 11-09-2005, 01:05 PM oh yeah, by the way, he is doing the right thing by vacating the belt, sortof. if hes the champ hes got a right to take the time he needs to get better. this is not a guy who isnt fighting because hes scared, hes hurt. But to retire? this stinks of quitting. unbelievable. he says, "i want to be able to give the fans what they deserve." what we deserve is a friggin heavyweight championship fight. if it has to be a year from now, so be it. dont quit, you f****** p****.

Most likely he will come back, but he probably wont get to fight Rahman. No way will Rahman accept it.
Manny_P 11-09-2005, 01:11 PM whateva. tis action definitely font look good to anybody who watches boxing.
Stiv Rex 11-09-2005, 01:27 PM Most likely he will come back, but he probably wont get to fight Rahman. No way will Rahman accept it.
yeah, but those european fighters usually stick to their word when it comes to retiring.
but if he did come back, rahman would have to accept a fight. looking at the heavyweights, youve got rahman, vitaly and maybe james toney, although hes gotta go back and do it again to ruiz before he gets in. youve got the guy who beat lennox once, and the guy who might have, no way to know what would have happened. in order for rahman to have legitimacy, for the heavyweights to have a champ, he would have to fight vitaly, otherwise there is that hanging question mark.
but like i said earlier, for vitaly to quit like this is ridiculous, i hope he stays quit, and ill call rahman the champ until someone beats him.
the heavyweights are a sorry division right now.

He saw the doctor and had operation performed. The reason he retired is because the doctor told him he will need to wait for 6 months before he can train again. Get your facts right.
I think he will come back to challenge the undisputed champ (if we ever have one).
Man, Rahman scared him so badly. All praise to Rahman!
Come on. I am sure you dont believe the single word you said.
Hitman932 11-09-2005, 06:49 PM Is there any way to verify that his knee is torn? And if so, would that shut the haters up, at least about the "fake injury" allegations?
the WBC had their doctors verify, any allegation that the injury is made up is pure hore****
he tore his meniscus which isnt that bad an injury, but they also found he had ruptured his acl, which is very significant injury that ends careers in other sports

So the WBC acknowledges that the injury is real?
