Who in your opinion trained harder or was consistently in great condition for a fight in boxing history?

Rocky Marciano has the best stamina out of any Heavyweight. Check his training regime, and the guy was always in shape 365 days a year.

Marciano in my opinion. Tyson in his prime was in great shape but still not enough compared to Rocky.

why rocky? he looks like frazier, little soft around his legs and stomach. they trained hard but nothing compare to tysons prime,ali-1 and holyfield.

I think Marciano ran 6 miles in the morning every day.

Why the **** isn't Holyfield on that list? Holyfeild trained his ass off for every fight.

You can't judge how fit someone is purely based on asethetics. Just because Rock or Frazier doesn't look fit doesn't mean there not. Most of the old timers don't looked ripped because they don't weight train (which can hinder endurance) or take supplements like protein powders. Rocky could through 100 hard shots a round and keep it up for 15 rounds.

Holyfield is a good one - always in tip top shape for his fights

Not Ali - he slacked off every once in awhile

yeah Ali looked fat in his last 10 fights and sometimes in his prime he would only train for 2 weeks before a fight.

The best conditioning of any fighter I've ever seen is Salvador Sanchez. He was so primed by fight time that in the one minute's rest between rounds, his breathing and heart rate returned to normal. So in effect, it was kind of like his body thought it was just round one starting over and over again. If you doubt this, go watch a tape of his fight with Azumah Nelson. Between rounds 14 and 15 of a brutally paced fight, they showed Nelson understandably gasping for air in his corner. Then they panned over to Sanchez, who was just sitting there, breathing calmly through his nose, looking almost bored, literally as if he was waiting for the opening bell to sound. Still amazes me.

I absolutely agree. I have never seen someone with sal's stamina. No matter how long & tough a fight....he was looking & fighting in the 13-15th rds....jut like he was the 1-3rd.
I'm sure he trained intensely, but I also felt he had genetic gifts.

i believe that it is how you look at it. marciano and ali in the 60s in my opinion were the best trained. however the way they trained was different. marciano trained to take a punch and to hit hard, non-stop for 15 rounds. ali, however trained to dance and not get hit and to avoid punches and to get in as many punches as he could with great speed and accuracy, and to do this non-stop for 15 rounds at the same pace. you could tell they were up for it too. marciano would keep on coming for 15 rounds if he wanted to, and it didn't seem as if he was getting tired. his punches in the last round were just as hard as in the first. likewise for ali in the 60s, he had the ability to dance for 15 rounds non-stop and his handspeed would not diminish at all up to the final bell. even in between rounds, when the other fighter was on his stool resting and getting treated, ali would sometimes not even sit on the stool and, get this, dance and jump around the ring at his corner for the whole minute before the next round started! sometimes this would even occur late in the fight! this is attributed to countless miles of roadwork and sparring with lightweights.

marciano definately he was 100% from round 1 to 15 frazier is second IMO again he just doesn't tire.

holyfield occasionally had bad days but most of the time he could out work and outlast anybody

hagler and robinson were also tireless

i feel ali did tend to slow down in the later rounds if even he didn;t start gasping. his only long fights when he was young were imo not challenging enough to tire him.
