View Full Version : Who Will Have The Biggest Year In 2005? Truth 12-26-2004, 09:04 AM Which fighter do you think will have a big year in 2005? Truth 12-26-2004, 09:27 AM I think Bernard will have a big year because this might be his last year. I think he wants to leave with at least 1-2 superfights. JOM'S 12-26-2004, 11:35 AM Pac Man will have at least 2 super fights next year rematch with JMM on February and a July date with EM or a rematch with MAB, if he gets past those 2-3 guys, 2005 will be beyond big for the PAC... rsl 12-26-2004, 11:39 AM Jomapac, who is that girl on your avatar? JOM'S 12-26-2004, 11:41 AM Jomapac, who is that girl on your avatar? just one of the filipina hot babes, juliana palermo... the undertaker 12-26-2004, 11:43 AM Pac Man will have at least 2 super fights next year rematch with JMM on February and a July date with EM or a rematch with MAB, if he gets past those 2-3 guys, 2005 will be beyond big for the PAC... pre' kumusta? asan ka ba talaga dito sa middle east, KSA?? the undertaker 12-26-2004, 11:46 AM Pac Man will have at least 2 super fights next year rematch with JMM on February and a July date with EM or a rematch with MAB, if he gets past those 2-3 guys, 2005 will be beyond big for the PAC... yeah I totally agree on that. PACMAN will have a very good year this coming 2005...All the mexican fighters in line for him to fight will be demolished..because Manny knew already what will happen if he will not knockout an opponent..he might be robbed again with a win.. :D :D IwatchBoxing 12-26-2004, 12:19 PM Trinidad because he is going back on the P4P lists in a big way .::|ULTIMATE|::. 12-26-2004, 12:34 PM Other all those guys like to fight 1 time a year. Thats not enough in my opinion. MetalVomit 12-26-2004, 12:41 PM Pac Man will have at least 2 super fights next year rematch with JMM on February and a July date with EM or a rematch with MAB, if he gets past those 2-3 guys, 2005 will be beyond big for the PAC... I know PAC is your boy, and I love to watch him fight, but I dont think he will win the rematch with JMM, Marquez figured him out from the second round on and I think that its going to be a somewhat lopsided 12 round win for JMM, his style is bad for Pac. boxing fan 12-26-2004, 03:05 PM Vitali Klitschko will beat everyone he faces. Hurlex 12-26-2004, 03:11 PM vk will "dominate" everyone he faces but i am thking more KT...he so close to legendary...that he wants it so bad which i think he will...he will finish up (maybe) one last fight at 140..move up to 147-beat spinks or some other top 5..and then go for the mega fight with oscar who i think he will win BrooklynBomber 12-26-2004, 03:46 PM vk will "dominate" everyone he faces but i am thking more KT...he so close to legendary...that he wants it so bad which i think he will...he will finish up (maybe) one last fight at 140..move up to 147-beat spinks or some other top 5..and then go for the mega fight with oscar who i think he will win Hell yeah. I wish for that too. Nautilus 12-26-2004, 03:49 PM Vitali Klitschko will beat everyone he faces. Neils, you are spamming the boards. Great 12-26-2004, 03:51 PM Glen Johnson. Miguel Cotto X 23 12-26-2004, 07:16 PM Trinidad and VK. QueenCity 12-26-2004, 07:48 PM Zab Judah- I think he will light up Cory Spinks in Febuary and win another big fight later that year against someone like Mayorga, Ouma, or even one of the big guns at Jr Welter. By the end of the year I think he will be on everyones P4P list. If Gatti either loses to Leija or doesn't choose to fight Mayweather in the Summer, I look for Judah to get that PPV headline. The only thing Judah has going against him is Don King, but he can still get big fights. mr. bojangles 12-26-2004, 08:45 PM Joe Calzaghe, if he can get the fights and wins them against Lacy, Tarver and/or Johnson. Kostya Tszyu, if he can get the fights and wins them against ODLH, Spinks, Hatton and/or Gatti. ditto, for the PacMan against JMMarquez, Erik Morales and MABarrera. ditto, for JLCastillo against Corrales, Diaz and Diaz. ditto, for Vitali Klitschko against Ruiz, Byrd and Brewster. Bigchill79 12-26-2004, 08:53 PM Kosta Tyszu, deserve some big fights. bytee 12-26-2004, 10:04 PM I know PAC is your boy, and I love to watch him fight, but I dont think he will win the rematch with JMM, Marquez figured him out from the second round on and I think that its going to be a somewhat lopsided 12 round win for JMM, his style is bad for Pac. how come jmm wasnt able to finished off pac after the second round?? . . . isnt it 10 rounds is too long for him to send pac packing? and yet he only earned a draw ?? figuring out is not the same as doing it out . . . my friend . . . i also dreamed of jmm sending pac to canvass or win with a lopsided 12 rounds as youve said . . . but that will only remain a dream until the final verdic comes . . happy new year! MetalVomit 12-26-2004, 10:55 PM how come jmm wasnt able to finished off pac after the second round?? . . . isnt it 10 rounds is too long for him to send pac packing? and yet he only earned a draw ?? figuring out is not the same as doing it out . . . my friend . . . i also dreamed of jmm sending pac to canvass or win with a lopsided 12 rounds as youve said . . . but that will only remain a dream until the final verdic comes . . happy new year! he figured him out, and that doesnt mean he has to KO him, personally, I think that JMM won every round except the first in that fight....my friend.... ELPacman 12-27-2004, 01:39 PM I know PAC is your boy, and I love to watch him fight, but I dont think he will win the rematch with JMM, Marquez figured him out from the second round on and I think that its going to be a somewhat lopsided 12 round win for JMM, his style is bad for Pac. Ya know man, this is what I been believing myself. After seeing him fight Fahsan I'd have no doubt that he would lose the rematch although...Manny is smart. He may be a loose cannon and immature at times(outside of the ring), though with Roach keeping his mind set right, he definitely can go far. If he doesn't begin is preparations as early as Roach wants him to, he will definitely lose. If he begins early and they begin a perfect strategy by watching Marquez tapes over and over and as Roach said, he was gonna sit down with Manny and view the first fight over and over looking for strategies, he can definitely win. I see Marquez as the man that won't have anything new to the table in the rematch, though Manny can if he wants which is up to him. Otherwise this will be another case of Mosely-Wright. Marquez is just too good at counter punching Manny's style which will give Manny some trouble and a loss. It will definitely be something unreal to see though if Manny comes in there with a perfect strategy as he had figured out Barrera and dominates Marquez though at this stage, I don't see that happening. Either Manny by KO some point(early on), or Marquez by decision. Pinoy_Texan 12-27-2004, 01:54 PM I know PAC is your boy, and I love to watch him fight, but I dont think he will win the rematch with JMM, Marquez figured him out from the second round on and I think that its going to be a somewhat lopsided 12 round win for JMM, his style is bad for Pac. I don't know if JMM did figure Pac out. JMM faced a very one dimensional Pac that night. If you watch Pac vs. Barrera, Pac vs. Ledwaba then you'll see that Pac was attacking from every angle possible. That night Pac was just throwing jab-cross combination and nothing else. Even an average fighter could've figured out that the left was coming after the right. But I do agree that JMM is a very dangerous fighter for Pac, which makes the rematch much more interesting. Only means good fight for fans and money in the bank for the fighters. MlLkMan 12-27-2004, 02:28 PM I don't know if JMM did figure Pac out. JMM faced a very one dimensional Pac that night. Nodogoshi 12-27-2004, 04:30 PM I think Pac. is the guy with the most potential for a huge '05. I'm picking him to beat Marquez, then he could have 2 more big fights easily by the end of the year. KT has potential too if he can get the fights he wants, like if he beat Hatton, Spinx and then Hoya for example it would be huge. Floyed could have a big year, but I think his best years are ahead. Look for him in '06/7. GranTorino 12-27-2004, 08:50 PM Look for Wlad to grab one or two belts this year. Marjoh 12-27-2004, 08:55 PM If PacMan get pass his rematch with Marquez, then that would set him up for Morales. And if he beats Morales, then a rematch with Barrera by the end of the year is likely. That's three of the biggest fight in 2005 (if it gets through), and would likely put PacMan as the P4P king of the year. ELPacman 12-27-2004, 09:40 PM Man, Manny beating Marquez, Morales, and 2nd time Barrera would be a dream that only his fans and him could dream about. Just think of where it would put him. He'd be more than just big in the Ph. He'd be huge all over Mexico(whether thats a good or bad thing), and would most likely get big popularity in the US. I'd love to see that happen though I just don't see the hunger being there anymore to accomplish something so big. Although he does have the hunger to face Morales more than anything so it is a possibility. nadz 12-27-2004, 11:30 PM lol... i go for pac if he past all his fight... czars_salad 12-28-2004, 03:57 AM I know PAC is your boy, and I love to watch him fight, but I dont think he will win the rematch with JMM, Marquez figured him out from the second round on and I think that its going to be a somewhat lopsided 12 round win for JMM, his style is bad for Pac. are you kidding me? have you seen Pac fought lately? Pac had added new weapons in his arsenal he could use against any of your mexican fighters. watch out for him! czars_salad 12-28-2004, 03:58 AM If PacMan get pass his rematch with Marquez, then that would set him up for Morales. TheFairPole 12-28-2004, 04:20 AM Jermain Taylor will have the biggest year of all!!! ;) czars_salad 12-28-2004, 04:26 AM I've read all the replies in this thread and I wonder why pacman was not included among the options after reading. they don't believe in the power of the pacman olympic boy 12-28-2004, 07:16 AM Which fighter do you think will have a big year in 2005? P A C M A N :D ispayder 12-28-2004, 07:37 AM Two guys are in my mind: 1. Tzyu - fighting Hatton, Mayweather and Dela Hoya. 2. Pacman - fighting JMM and Morales, plus Chi or Harrison. It doesn't look like Pacman will be one of Barrera's priorities next year. markosg19 12-28-2004, 10:29 AM Delahoya will have a good year cause he will be fighting at welterweight and not many fighters will be able to beat him there riz 12-28-2004, 10:52 AM pacquio hurt his left hand, and had blisters on his foot, if it wasn't for that i dun think we wud need that rematch. wat about cotto i think he'll do good, and gatti, he might do good to hambone 12-28-2004, 05:46 PM Wlad will be back in 2005 .... or we'll never hear from him again :D Mr. Ryan 12-28-2004, 05:48 PM I think Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto will have the biggest years. bpapa420 12-28-2004, 05:55 PM I think that kostya will have the biggest year. There are too many top fighter gunning for him not to have a good year. davico 12-28-2004, 07:09 PM KT - Will stamp himself as a legend in the sport! itsbusdriver 12-28-2004, 09:34 PM i think the winner of JMM and PAC in Feb will have a great year.. and i also think KT.. that dream fight with DLH should be a good one if the fight happens... czars_salad 12-28-2004, 09:39 PM Wlad will be back in 2005 .... or we'll never hear from him again :D come on, that guy has no punching power! PBDS 12-28-2004, 10:05 PM Vitali will have the biggest year by fighting, beating, and retireing in no particular order, Rahman, Toney, and Byrd. Don't think the Toney fight would ever happen because it has mismatch written all over it but I can always hope. Hurlex 12-28-2004, 10:24 PM i dont even think pac will get past JMM..and even though morales lost to mab..pac style is perfect for morales to school, counter punch and ko late...so pac has huge challanges ahead of him... pac vs jmm(i think jmm might win by ud with his counterpunching skills) pac vs morales(i hope pac kTFO of morales)-this fight will happen even if JMM beats pac pac vs mab(i rooting for mab) THRILLAinmanila 12-28-2004, 10:32 PM i dont even think pac will get past JMM..and even though morales lost to mab..pac style is perfect for morales to school, counter punch and ko late...so pac has huge challanges ahead of him... pac vs jmm(i think jmm might win by ud with his counterpunching skills) pac vs morales(i hope pac kTFO of morales)-this fight will happen even if JMM beats pac pac vs mab(i rooting for mab) Advantage JMM if the fight goes the distance...Pac will win if the fight goes less than 6 rounds Hurlex 12-28-2004, 10:47 PM ahh very true...if the fight goes into late rounds i see pac stamina dropping an dhim losing rounds..so if he's gonna win he has to do it early...we all know pac aint gonna win no SD/UD agaisnt JMM davico 12-28-2004, 11:03 PM [1st Verse: Savage] I'm hearin' you still talking that **** but none of your actions here are speakin' to me I'm talkin' it, walkin' it, my stompin' style will stop your movement' Hold up who's this? (aarrah!) Still leavin' you with cuts and bruises So cut the bull**** before I rrrrock your face with a pool stick tyte3 12-29-2004, 02:58 AM ya this has to go to pacquiao ..with JMM and EM and maybe MB it has to be pacquiao Saint3605 12-29-2004, 03:40 AM Cotto will have a good year. Zab Judah is gonna knock out Spinks and I don't care what he does the rest of the year, as long as he knocks out Spinks. and Hopkins should finish up with a good year. LuKahnLi 12-29-2004, 09:19 AM Tito is already starting the year off big by fighting and presumably beating Winky Wright. Can only go up from there. MlLkMan 12-29-2004, 12:36 PM Manny Pacquiao pimpin2 12-30-2004, 08:03 AM I have to say 2005 will be lil floyds year if all the stars line up right he can fight Gatti and Kostya and if he beats both then gentlemen, we have the fighter of the year for 2005. PRboxingfan 12-30-2004, 10:17 AM The people who will have the best year will be Cotto, KZ, Zab Judah, and Jeff Lacy. I think they will dominate or continue to dominate their respective divisions (I know MC and KZ are in the same division but they won't face each other this year). DR. FREECLOUD 12-30-2004, 11:26 AM there is soo much talent out there for next year. pac-man seems to like to stay active and if he gets the fights he wants and wins them he could have the biggest year. tito will not fight as often as pac-man but could land some great fights. after the slaughter of winky he needs to avenge his 1 loss to b-hop. how amazing would that be. then he could try and lure dlh in again to settle that score. pbf will be defeated and forgotten forever...that could make it his biggest year!!!!! j/k but what will make the fighters biggest year of course is actually making the fights happen. so many match-ups with the possiblity of upset can make or break any of these guys. chingon28 12-30-2004, 11:37 AM I would say miguel cotto had the best yr. he stayed active and beat some really good fighters. he showed that he can not just slug it out but can really box too. ispayder 12-30-2004, 11:37 AM I know PAC is your boy, and I love to watch him fight, but I dont think he will win the rematch with JMM, Marquez figured him out from the second round on and I think that its going to be a somewhat lopsided 12 round win for JMM, his style is bad for Pac. Tell you what - Team JMM will have migranes and headaches trying to figure out the two fisted Pacman with a lot of new and devastating weapons in his arsenal. (minus the 99 cents socks too :) ). chingon28 12-30-2004, 11:42 AM Its going to be interesting to see what happens in the JMM, Pacquiao fight. But i do think that Marquez did figure out Pacquiao in their first fight. Double 12-30-2004, 12:31 PM This "Other" cat is one helluva fighter Double 12-30-2004, 12:33 PM Its going to be interesting to see what happens in the JMM, Pacquiao fight. But i do think that Marquez did figure out Pacquiao in their first fight. I don't know I think Pac got overconfident and was strictly looking for a KO after rd 1. He'll box more intelligently and take his shots when they come in the rematch. JaNnO 12-30-2004, 12:51 PM I know PAC is your boy, and I love to watch him fight, but I dont think he will win the rematch with JMM, Marquez figured him out from the second round on and I think that its going to be a somewhat lopsided 12 round win for JMM, his style is bad for Pac. i highly doubt that...figuring out is no way near than executing what he just figured out.jmm had 11 rounds to that but didn't execute to earn a win. it was a very close fight but i gave it to pac. pacman will make jmm backing the whole fight during the rematch and will taste the canvass again...but this time it's gonna be lights out for him. pac tko in 6th! JaNnO 12-30-2004, 01:00 PM ahh very true...if the fight goes into late rounds i see pac stamina dropping an dhim losing rounds..so if he's gonna win he has to do it early...we all know pac aint gonna win no SD/UD agaisnt JMM wanna bet on that? i think pac wins by ko/tko. jmm is an excellent counter-puncher but pac has the speed and power. i don't think pac & freddie is going to go for an early kill. i say freddie will bring a more varied plan this time and after pac gets a good measure of jmm (3-4 rounds is enough) pac will go for a kill starting round 5 and the powerful straight left will find jmm's head in the 6th. Verbl_Kint 12-30-2004, 02:15 PM There seems to be no fighter under 130 lbs on that list other than "other." JaNnO 12-30-2004, 02:31 PM There seems to be no fighter under 130 lbs on that list other than "other." that's why the result is skewed over to the "other" selection. this means the choices don't represent the most viable candidates in the spectrum. |
