View Full Version : De La Hoya vs. Mayorga confirmed!!!! dafish298 10-28-2005, 01:59 PM ESPN.com reports that De La Hoya will fight Mayorga on May 6th, 2006. More details can be found on the boxing section of espn.com oj21 10-28-2005, 02:06 PM Good, I'm glad it's finally done in paper. Now DLH can give Mayo a boxing lesson in the ring. Caca 10-28-2005, 02:10 PM I hope this fight takes place at 147. Oscar will dominate Mayorga and stop him late. Mark these words. Easy-E 10-28-2005, 02:12 PM I hope this fight takes place at 147. Oscar will dominate Mayorga and stop him late. Mark these words. care to bet on that stoppage? Caca 10-28-2005, 02:36 PM Mayorga does not have the skills to do anything to DLH. He will not hit Oscar with half the shots he hit Tito with. This will cause him to tire while he's getting stung with shots he does not see coming. I can see him giving up on his stool out of pure frustration. Kimmy 10-28-2005, 02:39 PM I think Oscar will win an easy dec. Mayorga isn't in his class! Caca 10-28-2005, 02:40 PM That's right Kimmy. You have very good boxing judgement. !! Mr. Soprano 10-28-2005, 02:41 PM I say DLH KO 10 BIGPOPPAPUMP 10-28-2005, 02:42 PM ESPN.com reports that De La Hoya will fight Mayorga on May 6th, 2006. More details can be found on the boxing section of espn.com It was actually reported by the LA Times on their website, and noted by ESPN as such. Still big news regardless. Truth 10-28-2005, 02:42 PM Caca, I love the avatar and sig...anyway De La Hoya will win. He is the better fighter and will be determined this time. Chet 10-28-2005, 04:07 PM Hopefully Foreman commentates so I can here him talk about De La Hoya's shoulders. NOFX 10-28-2005, 04:11 PM YEP, its already sheduled on boxingrec.com so is MOSLEY VS VARGAS IN FEBUARY Londonerz 10-28-2005, 04:13 PM why is the fight in so long? de la hoya needs that much time to shed the weight? TiB-WaRRiOR 10-28-2005, 04:18 PM Dela Hoya Is A ***** Who Opted To Fight Mayorga Rather Than Choosing To Fight Other Comeptitive Fighters In The Division..if He Really Wants To Prove Something, why Not He Fight Winky?this Fuker Knows He Could Do What Trinidad Did To Mayorga Cuz He Is A Better Boxer Than Trinidad..but Can He Do What Trinidad And Mosley Couldnt Do?he Gotta Prove That He Is Better Than Trinidad And Mosley And Should Fight Winky To Prove Something. Dirt E Gomez 10-28-2005, 04:22 PM Because Wright is fighting Solimon and weighs in 10+ pounds more than DLH in his heavier stages. Super_Lightweight 10-28-2005, 04:32 PM I say Mayorga is a good opponent with some good wins and he will make this an entertaining fight. He is relentless and De La Hoya may be biting off more than he can screw! I hope DLH wins though...inactivity I hope won't be a factor. This fight will not be at 147 whoever said that. Mayo fights at 154 and so does DLH. DLH isn't gonna kill himself to make weight and neither will Mayo. No point. Truth 10-28-2005, 04:36 PM I hope Oscar beat Mayorga down. He needs a win... DiegoFuego 10-28-2005, 04:37 PM De La Hoya will not knock Mayorga out. Are you guys crazy? Vernon Forrest hit him flush at 147 and it did NOTHING. Remember Forrest? The guy that knocked Mosley's ****ing head off? The same Mosley that De La Hoya never even STUNNED. **** a TKO. Super_Lightweight 10-28-2005, 04:41 PM Both fighters have very good chins but if any1 gets KO or stopped it'll be DLH in my view because he has had a long layoff and who knows how fit he is not only physically, but mentally as well. However, in all liklihood this goes to the cards. I'll say off the top of my head...DLH MD Mayorga, 116-112, 115-113, 114-114. DLH will look rusty and take some shots, but win more rounds and land cleaner throughout the fight. TheEvilSaint 10-28-2005, 05:13 PM dlh by TKO or UD. i dont see mayorga winning this fight at all. slavik18 10-28-2005, 05:35 PM dlh by TKO or UD. i dont see mayorga winning this fight at all. Mayorga will brutalize Oscar. OSCAR WILL QUIT ON HIS STOOL. Mark these words *****es. I will back this up with a 200Million Bet. Come on you Oscarsexuals, back your words up and bet. TheEvilSaint 10-28-2005, 05:58 PM Mayorga will brutalize Oscar. OSCAR WILL QUIT ON HIS STOOL. Mark these words *****es. I will back this up with a 200Million Bet. Come on you Oscarsexuals, back your words up and bet. jesus christ, calm the **** down. im not backing oscar, im just saying oscar will win. BadMagick 10-28-2005, 06:05 PM This will not even be a match. Biggest mismatch of the year. DLH just wants more money. And I can't blame him... If I were in a position to dominate someone like this, and make some serious bank, I'd do it. Slavik, you're on. This isn't a competition. Oscar is going to make Mayorga cry. j 10-28-2005, 06:19 PM whatever happened to dlh/tszyu proposition rumor going around? is this meant to be some kind of tune up for an eventual showdown. on the subject at hand, dlh has far better boxing skills and mayorga is one tough crazy sob. i'd like to catch this one. Atwa_66 10-28-2005, 06:24 PM I posted a thread days ago about this fight, and notice all the new people immediately jumped onto DLH's side, because half them never seen Mayorga fight probably. Atwa_66 10-28-2005, 06:25 PM Mayorga will brutalize Oscar. OSCAR WILL QUIT ON HIS STOOL. Mark these words *****es. I will back this up with a 200Million Bet. Come on you Oscarsexuals, back your words up and bet. ONE SMART POSTER!!! karma on the way I will bet anyone 1 billion points that Mayorga wins. hollister 10-28-2005, 06:26 PM Hopefully Foreman commentates so I can here him talk about De La Hoya's shoulders. No ****, I think he's infatuated with'em lol TheEvilSaint 10-28-2005, 06:28 PM I posted a thread days ago about this fight, and notice all the new people immediately jumped onto DLH's side, because half them never seen Mayorga fight probably. ive seen mayorga in his fights with forrest 1, spinks, and tito. ive seen oscar against tito, vargas, and hopkins. mayorga has more power and is more entertaining, but he'll need more than that to get past oscar. hollister 10-28-2005, 06:30 PM De La Hoya will not knock Mayorga out. Are you guys crazy? Vernon Forrest hit him flush at 147 and it did NOTHING. Remember Forrest? The guy that knocked Mosley's ****ing head off? The same Mosley that De La Hoya never even STUNNED. **** a TKO. Forrest hit Mosley ONCE and knocked Mosley down, and was never able to do it again if memory serves. Mayorga is alot slower than Mosley, Oscar will be able to hit him with alot more flush shots. Not saying he'll ko Mayo, but he'll probably **** him up good. BLOODSHED 10-28-2005, 06:33 PM Please... Oscar will outbox him and I wouldnt be surprised if Mayorga hurts Oscar. This will not even be a match. Biggest mismatch of the year. DLH just wants more money. And I can't blame him... If I were in a position to dominate someone like this, and make some serious bank, I'd do it. Slavik, you're on. This isn't a competition. Oscar is going to make Mayorga cry. Atwa_66 10-28-2005, 06:35 PM You people are forgetting the punishment Mayorga can take. He throws bombs, and rocks fighters in 3 rounds, but he also can take hits from the best, giving trinidad 3 shots into his jaw, and staying up. Mayorga will not be KO'ed, the only way he loses is by UD, and I see Mayorga canning this bastard. j 10-28-2005, 06:35 PM lol about foreman's infatuation with dlh's shoulders. think i've heard that comment before, but i forget when. which fight/fights does george specifically mention his "beautiful" shoulders? borikua 10-28-2005, 07:30 PM Oscar inks Mayorga pact! Oscar De La Hoya has reportedly signed a tentative pact to to challenge Ricardo Mayorga for the WBC 154-pound title on May 6. It is not known whether the bout will be a co-promotion between Don King Productions and De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, or DKP and Top Rank, which holds a right of first refusal for Oscar's next bout, according to the LA Times. The paper also reported that former champions Shane Mosley and Fernando Vargas will collide on February 25 and IBF lightweight champion Jesus Chavez will face off WBC super featherweight king Marco Antonio Barrera on March 25. Friday, October 28 2005 ------------------------------- It's funny how some of u guys are quick to say that DLH will KTFO Mayo, Tito connected over 50% of his power shots in almost every round against Mayo and still it took Tito till the 8th round to knock him out. If DLH will win, but on the score cards... borikua 10-28-2005, 07:31 PM PS: I knew that Oscar couldn't make 147... NOFX 10-28-2005, 07:40 PM lol about foreman's infatuation with dlh's shoulders. think i've heard that comment before, but i forget when. which fight/fights does george specifically mention his "beautiful" shoulders? it's in the DLH/TRINIDAD fight. Moon 10-28-2005, 07:54 PM Truth is ..... Mayorga catches Oscar with good stuff, whether Oscar trys to box (and run away in later rounds) or if Oscar goes toe-to-toe. Let's just hope that Oscar is actually concerned about his "legacy" (as he says he is) so that he chooses to give us something like a war or a boxing lesson to talk about. My expectation is that Oscar cannot run away. Plus he can't take out Mayorga. So, it's up to Mayorga, really. borikua 10-28-2005, 07:58 PM I would love to see Mayo win this fight, but if Oscar gives Mayo a worst beat down than the one he got from Tito (if even possible) maybe that will hurt Tito's pride and set up a fight between them in Sept...That would be fukin awesome. tracylee 10-28-2005, 08:03 PM I am so NOT a DLH fan, but I know a good solid technician when I see one, and that is something that Mayorga is not. DLH is bound to box circles around him....mayo would absolutely have to get lucky and catch him with a very good punch or he loses on the cards and possibly looks silly doing it. THis match up is hard to even take serious, and I cant figure what oscar is trying to prove or accomplish?? Truth 10-28-2005, 08:06 PM I am so NOT a DLH fan, but I know a good solid technician when I see one, and that is something that Mayorga is not. THis match up is hard to even take serious, and I cant figure what oscar is trying to prove or accomplish?? I think he is just trying to win a fight. And he knows Mayorga is a good name to beat. On top of that its a marketable fight because it plays good guy vs. bad guy. And we all know that sells... tracylee 10-28-2005, 08:10 PM I think he is just trying to win a fight. And he knows Mayorga is a good name to beat. On top of that its a marketable fight because it plays good guy vs. bad guy. And we all know that sells... true true...this is definately a fight dlh can win. he will probably get stunned a time or two, but I dont see him letting mayo get in that close, that often. boxing lesson for sure. Truth 10-28-2005, 08:13 PM true true...this is definately a fight dlh can win. he will probably get stunned a time or two, but I dont see him letting mayo get in that close, that often. boxing lesson for sure. Oh I agree, and you have to figure Oscar is going to train extremley hard for this fight because its one of his last. tracylee 10-28-2005, 08:14 PM Oh I agree, and you have to figure Oscar is going to train extremley hard for this fight because its one of his last. definately! it would be a nasty thing to lose to someone of mayo's 'caliber' (no insult intended really..he's a slugger not a boxer) after the career he's had  The Infamous 10-28-2005, 08:17 PM DLH wouldn't take this fight if he couldn't win, he ain't stupid. This is a tuneup fight for him, Mayorga is a bum, he will get exposed then DLH will fight Pretty Boy or Vargas, and NOT Mosley. Truth 10-28-2005, 08:17 PM definately! it would be a nasty thing to lose to someone of mayo's 'caliber' (no insult intended really..he's a slugger not a boxer) after the career he's had  Yeah Mayorga basically just come forward and swings like crazy...lol :D The Infamous 10-28-2005, 08:19 PM Yeah Mayorga basically just come forward and swings like crazy...lol :D lol, it's funny how Mayorga actually tried to box his last fight, what a noob. slavik18 10-28-2005, 08:21 PM DLH wouldn't take this fight if he couldn't win, he ain't stupid. This is a tuneup fight for him, Mayorga is a bum, he will get exposed then DLH will fight Pretty Boy or Vargas, and NOT Mosley. Oh really? So I guess Oscar thought he could beat Hopkins LMAO!!! You're an idiot, and I will laught if Mosley gets beaten by Vargas. borikua 10-28-2005, 08:22 PM I am so NOT a DLH fan, but I know a good solid technician when I see one, and that is something that Mayorga is not. I agree...vargas isnt the same. its like he lost some of his spunk or something Atwa_66 10-28-2005, 10:09 PM Like I said, 1 billion points, 500 million bets are availible to me, put your points where your mouth is, you all talk about DLH like he's some kind of god, bet me :D Basically, DLH has to win on the cards if he wants to win, he won't knock out Mayorga, THE END. If it took tito 8 rounds to do it, Oscar can't, period. Mayorga will come prepared and polished, and will destroy DLH in front of alot of non-believers, you just wait. Mayorga is one of the least-talented fighters I've ever seen. He sucks. All he does is throw bombs. He can take a hell of a punch, yeah, but he can't box for ****. All DLH has to do is stay away from huge punches, which he is completely capable of. Also, I'm sure he can find it in him to land a solid shot or two to Mayorga's liver, like Tito did to KO him. The Infamous 10-28-2005, 10:24 PM Mayorga is one of the least-talented fighters I've ever seen. He sucks. All he does is throw bombs. He can take a hell of a punch, yeah, but he can't box for ****. All DLH has to do is stay away from huge punches, which he is completely capable of. Also, I'm sure he can find it in him to land a solid shot or two to Mayorga's liver, like Tito did to KO him. lol, it's honestly hilarious when he tries to box. Kinda reminds me of Peden because he tries to use head movement but instead of slipping the punch he runs INTO the punch. He's a bum and his claim to fame is beating Forrest (who wasn't strong at that weight) and had confidence problems. Tha Greatest 10-28-2005, 10:25 PM Mayorga may have gone 8 rounds with Trinidad who is a killer, but if he fights a determined DeLaHoya, which I predict will happen, mainly because of all of Mayorgas trash talk will probably get to DLH and motivate him IMO. DLH can land punches in bunches and if he does that could stop Mayorga late. The Infamous 10-28-2005, 10:30 PM Mayorga may have gone 8 rounds with Trinidad who is a killer, but if he fights a determined DeLaHoya, which I predict will happen, mainly because of all of Mayorgas trash talk will probably get to DLH and motivate him IMO. Yeah, how can anyone be a fan of this guy - he's a trash talking rapist who sucks **** at boxing. borikua 10-28-2005, 10:47 PM Yeah, how can anyone be a fan of this guy - he's a trash talking rapist who sucks **** at boxing. Maybe cuz he's an exciting fighter.... The Infamous 10-28-2005, 10:48 PM Maybe cuz he's an exciting fighter.... I don't know, maybe I would like him if he wasn't such a prick and had SOME skills. borikua 10-28-2005, 10:56 PM I don't know, maybe I would like him if he wasn't such a prick and had SOME skills. The avarage boxing fan doesn't care bout skillz, they just care bout explosive exciting fighters....sad but true. Winky is one of the most skilled boxers out there, but I bet you that Mayo is a bigger draw...
