THRILLAinmanila 12-29-2004, 02:57 AM I just read in one of the papers that he missed his flight from Davao to Mla the other day to sign the contracts for the JMM & possible Morales fight because of.....any wild guesses?.....he stayed up til the early morning hours due to a pool game. He had to fax back the signed contract instead.
JOM'S 12-29-2004, 03:04 AM latest news is PAC will travel on the 8th of january to las vegas, Manny has mentione that 8 is a lucky number to start with....

You take the flag in your lounge. We're here to support you  by the way nice color combination on your username :) I used the same to follow the fire emblazened in Pac's boxing shorts. "NO FEAR !"
MlLkMan 12-29-2004, 12:27 PM Anyone have the Javier Vasquez vs Art Simonyan fight, Art is the one that sparred pacquiao.
JOM'S 12-30-2004, 02:41 AM Art Simonyan, so that's why that name ring a bell he was one of PAC's spar mate...
Chups 12-30-2004, 12:15 PM Art Simonyan just lost to Israel Vasquez a few days ago (TKO, I believe). Vasquez is another sparring mate and good friend of Pacman.
JaNnO 12-30-2004, 01:37 PM so i heard...pac even raised his hand when ysrael won in one of his fights this year...forgot who the opponent was tho.

Good to see that. You really don't see too much of that these days.
Then that settles it. Manny is definitely a fighter I'd like to meet one of these days.

Where did you hear about or see this?
If that is true, then he really is a great person.
Usually people who become famous just care about themselves and don't give anything back.

See? That's respectable.
Wether or not he wins his next fight, he's still a great fighter.

post fight interview would always include his call for the nation to unite. i think thats one virtue we should admire on him. he makes it a point to dedicate a fight to the oneness of the country. if you havent known yet, the country is still in a continued state of disarray due to politics. it is only during his fights when most streets would be cleared, almost zero crime rate. everytime he wins its like winning a world cup and people feel very much proud to be filipino.

I did not know that.
What is going on over there that is causing all of this?

a lot of filipinos thought they have removed a dictator in 1986, but what followed are opportunist presidents who only serve their cause. actually there are a lot of talents, professionals and good people in the country but the political turmoil is putting the country's progess on hold. it is the government which is actually putting the country down with graft and corruption. youd be a well-educated and accomplished engineer but still wouldnt find a suitable job to bring a comfortable lifestyle.
a lot of people were already fed up with this, majority of which either choose to work or immigrate abroad.
thats why a pacquiao victory is very much significant because it brings a lot of hope in the people. pacquiao is not just a boxer but aleardy a national figure of hope to all filipinos.
this is mainly the reason why a lot have been on his defense especially when pac haters would be bashing him. talking ill about pac tantamounts to taking ill to a whole race. it maybe be too much for people to really understand, but thats how it goes.

Sounds almost like what goes on in Mexico.
Which is why I don't understand why the mexicans and filipinos on here hate each other so much.
Is there anything currently being done about things over there?

it gets a little rowdy, escpecially when people start calling their boxers names. but generally the flaming are just between the posters. a lot of filipinos love mexican fighters like me who grew up watching them. a filipino comes into the limelight, others wanna dismiss it then, generally pinoy posters would be hurt and retaliate. i think BPP likes the idea that it gets rowdy here sometimes :D

They both get pretty out of hand in NSB.
But, yeah, I guess BPP does like it.
Also, the last line was about wether or not anything is being done to fix the problems in the Philippines.
I have another question.
Since Manny is so rich and well known over there, does the government ever try to take away some of his money?

hell no! the government even gives him money! the govt loves him coz everytime he fights the country has 0% crime rate and people dont talk of politics for about a wekk and focus their sights on the fight of pac!
