Okay, I admit - we English have never had a fantastic track record for boxers. But we're just a small island, there's more of you guys!

Yet there are some good names in history... Hamed, Benn, Eubank...

So we come to Bruno. Don't get me wrong - he's a joke (though a hero, due to his personality) on this side of the Atlantic too. But since his recent much-publicised mental health issues, the press have looked upon his record with a kinder eye.

He admits himself he may not have had tremendous natural talent, but he worked hard, and his four losses only came from two potential hall-of-famers (Lennox, Tyson) and Tim Witherspoon.

Yeah, he admits himself he won the title through hugging McCall in the 12th and he went to pieces for the Tyson rematch, though was the guy really so bad?

Let's have some views about the man who was widely recognised as the first person to hurt Tyson, and who was outboxing Lewis for the best part of seven rounds...

Bruno did only lose to Champion fighter but the fact is he never beat a top contender. His biggest win was against Oliver McCall over 12 rds and he almost feel through exhaustion at the end of it. He was beating Bonecrusher smith, Witherspoon and lennox lewis on the scorecards at the times he was stopped in those fights but he was stopped. He had very poor hand and foot speed and hardly any defence. he used to bulk up every year for power. His power was good. He rocked Tyson, Witherspoon and Lewis in his fights. He stopped James Tillis ( an old Tillis ) and he stopped jesse Freguson in a round in 1991. He had decent power but that was his only plus point. He was immobile, he couldn`t evade anything coming in and was target practice for Tyson.
As to how good he was....i believe John Ruiz would beat him, Byrd would beat him, so would Rahman, Klitscko, Moorer, Oquendo etc...In todays heavyweight picture i`d rank him with the likes of a Rob Colleyway, a guy Rahman fought in the summer. He is good against poor opponents but anything like class he loses. Not a top hundred all time heavy in my opinion!

He wasn't that bad. Ruiz can be hurt and Frank could really punch. Rahman, I think Frank would knock him out. Especially the fat Rahman who usually turns up for his fights.

Rahman would ice Bruno. The sraight right hand would KO him in teh late ronds, no way Bruno beats Rahman

Yeah, I remember reading that they'd recorded the punch power of Frank (where do they keep this info? Surely it must be recorded for all fighters?) and it was actually supposed to be harder than Tyson's. They always said it's a shame he never got to land it...

he might have beaten williams and hide but they are ****. Wouldn't have beaten mason, lennox, akinwande or harrison. The man had no heart and no natural athletic ability. he wouldn't beat any of todays top ten heavyweights. nuf said
