Tony Blitz 10-15-2005, 06:53 PM Probably 135...That's what I am.. I see 5'9 more of a perfect height for 147 though, not too thin and not too thick. ottoevans 10-15-2005, 09:05 PM Probably 135...That's what I am.. jesus christ, i guess you have be born to have a boxer build. Cause i could get down to 2% body fat and chop my leg off and still wont be 135. Tony Blitz 10-15-2005, 09:49 PM jesus christ, i guess you have be born to have a boxer build. Some people are just naturally small or big boned. enadeus 10-15-2005, 09:55 PM This is an obscure question and it really depends on you. You can be a heavyweight at 5'9 these days. IT all depends on how you are built. The lower the better in my opinion if your just a starter. I'm 5'9 (5'10 with shoes) and I'm at 146.5. I will cut down to 140 though. I can probably go to 135 but then I'll start to lose muscle. So my guess is anywhere from 140 to 147 is good, 140 being optimized weight. I personally know plenty of people that are like 5'9 and are 200 pounds of muscle, depends on your frame bro. big e 10-15-2005, 11:58 PM I'm 5"9 and i weight 164. im super skinny 2. Tha Greatest 10-16-2005, 12:09 AM Well.. Everyone's different.. Carlos Zarate...who was 5'8 fought at 118! Jeff Lacy who is 5'9 or 5'10 is a supper middleweigh! Look at Hearns, he was a lightweight in amateurs(132 and 6'0 feet) Then there's Tyson who was 5'11 and a HEAVYWEIGHT! It just becomes bulkier/bigger thats why u gain weight, or thinner.. makes u loose weight. ricecrispi 10-16-2005, 12:40 AM 147-165 is the average weight class for your height. VERSATILE2K9 10-16-2005, 02:09 AM see im 5'7 about 165 when not training but since i got excellent genetics i dont look different like in my avatar thats when i dont train for months.but i can go down to 147 or 140 or all the up to 160 cause of my size. so yeah it depends on size on what weight division u wanna go to Chill 10-16-2005, 02:07 PM My army papers says Im 5'10 atm Im a little over 140 max I've been is abt 160 but then I did alot of free weights and min is abt 130-135 then I almost didn't train at all. Im happy at 140-145 though I wont meet anyone too tall for me to handle and my speed is good as for power it has alot to do with technique and speed/velocity as well so it's not too bad. leff 10-16-2005, 03:16 PM depneds on how you are built, tua is like 5.9. im 6ft and 180 and i often feel short in the ring. Pugnacious_Z 10-18-2005, 08:05 AM ye its about ur frame and if ur short for ur weigth divison, i suggest a style like Tua, Tyson or Toney sparko 10-18-2005, 09:08 AM Im 6,1 and 154lbs, im not sure whether to try and bulk up and move up a class? :boxing: Chill 10-18-2005, 09:45 AM If you decide to bulk remember to read alot abt it, make sure you eat the right carbs at the right amount at the right times etc. It will be kinda hard for anyone that never seen you fight to tell you what you need. IMO height advantage is a good thing but not at the expense of too much speed and power. Meaning being able to jab a opponent whilst he is completely out of range and being able to score a hook when he jabs is priceless (only been on the receiving end of this and never anyone in my weight class neither). Although if the opponent is able to completely destroy you when he goes under the jab makes it all kinda futile. _Benjamin$_ 10-18-2005, 10:03 AM 5'9??? I dunno, you should be at 140-147lbs. I'm Pacman's height and I'm in his weight class. Super_Lightweight 10-18-2005, 12:53 PM MOST guys who are around 5'9'' fall above the 140 lbs weight-class. Harris is 5'9'' and is "tall" for 140. 5'9'' is prob average for a welterweight or jr middleweight. For you and your muscles though you will never make those weights do don't kill yourself trying. Gemini531 10-18-2005, 06:17 PM :boxing: You should stick in a weight class where maintaining your weight isnt such a burden and you fit in with the average boxer. Heightwise. Konstantin 10-18-2005, 07:09 PM Damn Im 6 1 and 150.... hard gainer.. Dyl-G 10-18-2005, 07:31 PM IM 5'8 and 130 pounds ShowStopper 10-18-2005, 07:37 PM MOST guys who are around 5'9'' fall above the 140 lbs weight-class. I would say that Harris is a little taller than 5.9 cause I am 5.9 and he is a good inch or two taller than me. I've actually met him in person, down at Gleason's phallusy 10-18-2005, 08:28 PM I see 5'9 more of a perfect height for 147 though, not too thin and not too thick. yeah, that's how i see it too, junior middle's not bad either most of the tall guys you'll see there are only 5'10 1/2 - 5'11". however, i'm 5'9" and i can't get below 160 vBulletin® v3.7.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
