Thoughts? Obviously I'd suggest Rumble in the Jungle/Thrilla in Manilla to go in there, but I still don't know enough about the total boxing history to access this. I consider myself to be reasonably knowledgable about the sport but I've never seen Marciano for example.

Anyway, the reason for the thread? I stopped watching boxing in the mid 90s, it's like a missing period for me. Yet tonight I finally got to see Tyson-Holyfield I... an absolute cracker or what? A shame Holyfield turns the post-fight interview into his personal pulpt and mocks Islam while doing it, but the fight itself was a five-star classic for me.

No other heavyweight fights equals the intensity of Thrilla In Manila, up to this time. :cool:

Frazier vs Ali 1 was great. As was Holyfield vs Bowe 1.

Klichko-Lewis among them? Maybe.

apart from the obvious choices....VK/Sanders was pretty good/exciting for a HW fight

But pretty damn sloppy as well.

Larry Holmes Vs Ke Norton was a great fight, for atmospere and suspense, Ali Vs Foreman was excellent!

The best heavyweight fight ever was Ali-Frazier 1. Two undefeated, legendary fighters in their prime going at it.

But if you could compile a top ten/twenty?

dammit dude...u really want us to "compile" a top 10-20 fights..dammit well i am only 18 so i am out..i have not yet seen most of holmes,norton and foreman fights so i cant say...but i do know the 70's-80's saw some great action...maybe somebody that has seen more then me can...anyone here up to date on their HW boxing matches???

I feel like I'm forgetting a couple of very important ones, but that should be somewhere around 20 great HW fights from which to choose from. Those might not be the absolute best HW fights in history, but no doubt most of them would be considered right up there in a ranking.
