Ok, I have a 32" flat screen tv....It has regular coaxial in/s-video/composite/component DVD INPUTS, the quality is mediocre through coaxial and the composite is right behind it...I plugged a cheap s-video cable in and it improved it a lot (the cable cost like $3.95)

Now my question is would their be another way to get better quality? Everyone recommends Monster Cables but those things are out the ass in price and Im not really sure if I would believe the sales hype....

What would you all recommend to get better quality???

2ND QUESTION

I have cable internet now, I have been thinking about switching to Verizon DSL anyone have both and how were they?

Which one comes out on top?

My current internet is around 384k but the dsl promises "up to 1.5mbps"

Any suggestions?

Component is worth the money for a big screen. You can notice the difference. Suprisingly, Sears has them for a reasonable price. Not sure if it would make much difference of 32". If you tv is plasma or LCD, I'd say get the component. If you just have a big flat screen tube tv, I don't think it would make that much difference.

is it a HD tv?

And the internet, all depends, Verizon normally has 1.5 mbps while most cable internet have 3.0 mbps

It is a regular flat screen, I bought a philips s-video and it looks a lot better than the cheap-o s-video so I will stick with that.

My g/f is getting like 140k on downloads and has dsl through sbc/yahoo and I have cable and am only getting around 30-40k on downloads.

Not sure if verizon would be similar to sbc but I imagine it wouldnt be far off, I might give them a try....My internet now is 384k dsl is guaranteed 384-1.5mbps

Well ordinary DSL and pro DSL are the only ones available (reasonable) to the public right now. There are "other" speeds but I'm sure these are highly expensive options. SBC has a promotion this holiday season...of $21/mo for 1 year...then goes back to $26.95 (w/c is still a great deal) I think it ends Dec.31, 2004.

video component would give you the best quality for your tv, more so if it's hdtv and has progressive scan. i've got a 32-inch sony vega and tried both coax and s-video...i sticked with video component. it was the best (period). got it cheap from radioshack.

i had comcast cable before and is now on sbc-yahoo dsl. cable is definitely faster than dsl (up to 3mbps vs 1.5mbps) when i signed up last year. i don't know current speed for both nowadays. but here are some of my observations:

(1) cable is faster but not consistent. when more people are logged, the performance goes down.

(2) dsl has a more consistent performance anytime you log in. it is cheaper too.

(3) the difference between the optimum cable and optimum dsl isn't noticeable.

(4) if you don't hae any use for landline phone, get cable. you will save at least $10 if you do this. otherwise get dsl, and you'll get extra $5 in your pocket!

Monster cables cant magically make a poor signal or poor source good. So consider that. Whatever your connecting to it if you want it to be in better quality your going to make sure its giving out a high quality signal.

About internet connection, i would recommend you stick with whichever internet connection gives you more upload speed for your buck. Trust me you'll thank me later.

most tv's are low resolution, when i use tv-out i noramlly had the side screen(one my tv goes on on 800x600 - i only watch films via tv and 800x600 is prefect for watching all my dvd rips) most tv's will have a bit of a blur on text etc, but for movies etc they should be fine, if u want a better picture ull need a HD tv, but still low res might help ur problems
