View Full Version : Will this FIGHT ever happen? COTTO vs CHAVEZ JR. Zab Super Judah 10-12-2005, 11:28 PM many people are calling them the next superstars of boxing. Calabrese 10-12-2005, 11:32 PM many people are calling them the next superstars of boxing. It could be puerto rico vs mexico all over again. In 3 years from now. Who will be the better of the two? Who do you guys feel has the better skills? I think Cotto. Chavez JR. seems to me when he's going to face a big puncher with some decent technique he's going to fold and he wont be able to withstand the pressure. His defense isn't very good He's constantly open. Once he faces a bigger puncher, it's LIGHTS OUT. Hitman932 10-12-2005, 11:32 PM Gotta say Cotto until Chavez shows me something real. Cotto is much more polished at this point, but 3 years is a long time, Chavez fights often which i like, i think he has 22 victories and hes not 20 yet. needs some 10-12 rounders though if he wants to learn. somewhow i get the feeling that at some point chavez is just going to get destroyed. xzworks 10-12-2005, 11:34 PM if cotto is a bum.then he will fight em. LOLOLOLOL RAESAAD 10-12-2005, 11:35 PM I would not look for anytime in the next 3 years or so but very well could happen should bother fighter continue to to stay on course....Cotto will end up being the savy vet with less fights against the very active next mexican great thing potentially of course. El Jesus 10-13-2005, 01:11 AM To tell you the truth...in 2 years, id give Chavez jr the chance to win because he throws every punch so well and he can devastate the body, perfect for someone like cotto who holds his hands high. But Cotto throws well too and Chavez' defense is that of a typical mexican born fighter, ****ty, so it would be a great fight. Pac Man Fan 83 10-13-2005, 01:18 AM Out of the two, Cotto will be the superstar. Round 1 10-13-2005, 01:23 AM It's still too early to predict what future awaits Chavez jr. he has not been tested yet. El Jesus 10-13-2005, 01:29 AM Out of the two, Cotto will be the superstar. in of course, your completely unbiased opinion. Tha Greatest 10-13-2005, 01:42 AM I am really gettin impressed by the Chavez left hook to the body.. USA4LIFE 10-13-2005, 01:47 AM I think i heard that Chavez jr won't be fighting for legit belts until he's got 30 or 40 wins so in however long that takes we will see how much he improves. He's got good punching power which can cause problems to cotto with his not so strong chin, but who knows. Tha Greatest 10-13-2005, 01:51 AM Also, I don't know why you guys are already talking about Chavez fighting Cotto.. I feel sorry for Chavez, people are going to try n push him way to fast, hopefully he's team don't listen to these ignorant people...He has LOTS of learn n hardly got any experience, this is like a amateur career for him. USA4LIFE 10-13-2005, 01:53 AM Also, I don't know why you guys are already talking about Chavez fighting Cotto.. I feel sorry for Chavez, people are going to try n push him way to fast, hopefully he's team don't listen to these ignorant people...He has LOTS of learn n hardly got any experience, this is like a amateur career for him. That's why his dad said their gonna wait till he gets PLENTY of fights under him. Zab Super Judah 10-13-2005, 02:36 AM I think i heard that Chavez jr won't be fighting for legit belts until he's got 30 or 40 wins so in however long that takes we will see how much he improves. He's got good punching power which can cause problems to cotto with his not so strong chin, but who knows. why are they trying to get him to gather up wins. Do they want him to have like 100 fights or wahtever like his father? hectari 10-13-2005, 02:50 AM If this fight happens it will happen in 1 year or 2! this fight will be awesome! and I predict julio jr wins this fight he is still growing and by the age of 21 when this fight might happen! he will be fully developed and more powerful he is only 19. He was 5 feet 9 last fight, and then he came in at 5 feet 11 this fight, he will probally be 6 feet 1 by 21 and fight at 147. hectari 10-13-2005, 02:51 AM why are they trying to get him to gather up wins. Do they want him to have like 100 fights or wahtever like his father? no they are trying to gain experience! he had no amatuer background and he is in no need to rush. They are not trying to pad his record because this kid is fighting often hahaha its good to see him fight 1 every month. McKay 1 10-13-2005, 02:53 AM Chavez jr will probably be a world champion somebody. But its hard to access whether he would ever be a top tier fighter because of low quality of opposition. He seems to have good power, good tactics, and good overall skills so far as I can see. BUT, he has never been tested. He has always been able to stay back and do what he wants. To his defence though he has 0 amateure experience, and having so many pro fights on a big stage at such a young age (19) could be a major positive. He is a indeed a very good and accomplished professonal fighter for somebody that is 19 years old. shemmue 10-13-2005, 04:31 PM i would pick cotto in this fight even if it happened in 2-3 yrs cotto is just to expirienced for chavez jr...you can't even compare the opposition they have faced as pro chavez jr will not face anything much better than what he is facing now in 2 yrs . i know he did not have an amateur career but if he keeps fighting the type of guys he is fighting for another 2 yrs. it is not going to help him as soon as he is in there with someone with a pulse he will get beat ..cotto by k.o or tko ..... .::|ULTIMATE|::. 10-13-2005, 04:45 PM 3 years from now is too much to know what would happen. Jr. could be found out to not be tough enough, skilled enough etc etc. or Cotto could be found to not be tough enough himself or war spent, or beat. I will say this Jr. Has very good pop in his punches so if his skills keep polishing up, he shouldnt be counted out. scap 10-13-2005, 04:47 PM Also, I don't know why you guys are already talking about Chavez fighting Cotto.. I feel sorry for Chavez, people are going to try n push him way to fast, hopefully he's team don't listen to these ignorant people...He has LOTS of learn n hardly got any experience, this is like a amateur career for him. Exactly...Cotto will be about set to retire when JC Jr. fights for a title...(I donbt no if Jr. is being pushed to hard though, it is more like a very slight rub) Will this fight ever happen? Jason Estrada vs. Vitaly Klitchko SAN D13GO VILLAN 10-13-2005, 04:48 PM come on now you can tell he's just a little kid he still has that baby face hes way to young and no amature carrer rumor has it that hes not even 19 they lied about his age so he can fight here in the states. dino 10-13-2005, 04:48 PM chavez is still a teenager..so its hard to tell..he hasnt even filled out yet bodywise deuce_drop 10-13-2005, 06:48 PM don't hold your breath for this fight to happen any time soon. Chavez jr is way too inexperienced, cotto is an olympian with tons of amateur experience. Chavez jr has no amateur experience, he is basically learning on the job. he's going to be fighting bums for a long time. they're trying to get his record up there like his dad's before he starts fighting contenders or for a belt. cotto is bigger, stronger, a better boxer, and has years more experience than Jr....as of now and maybe 3-4 years from now, it would be cotto all the way, Jr. doesn't stand a chance. Jr. has never beeen a real fight, he has blown through all his competition, but one thing is for sure, and i like it a lot, i like it tons actually; is that Chavez fights like every other month or every 2 months it seems. that right there will make him a serious contender if he keeps it up and steps up his level of competition. i like the way they're bringing Jr. along though, fighting 5-6 times a year, thats the old school way, and the right way to do things. if fighters did more of that, they would reach superstar status like they want, but they need to fight once a year because they have made these unwritten rules saying that they need X amount of time to prepare. basically saying they need to lose the weight because they got lazy in their off time. Ray Robinson fought a few times a month, because he was always in shape and wanted to stay sharp. that and he needed the cash.....( i staryed a bit there sorry ) deuce_drop 10-13-2005, 06:49 PM strayed.....oops TYSONP4PBESTEVER 10-13-2005, 06:55 PM this will be a great fight about 2 years from now. chavez will give him problems with his long reach advantage. theyre both very accurate and good with the combos. very powerful, and very fast. i say cotto will stop him late though, but theyre really is no way of telling cause they both will obviously get better as time goes on. chavez is still only 19, thats unbeleiveable. Johnny Boy 10-13-2005, 07:26 PM Chavez Jr. is 19, he has no amateur background and still only fighting 6 round fights. I'd say at least 3 or 4 years before we can even start to think about this fight seriously. (I think it'll be another 2 years before Chavez Jr. fights 10 round fights IIRC.) I wouldn't hold my breath for this fight to happen. Chavez is too raw, he's got some good skills, but he needs a lot more practice and he needs to fill out his frame. Again, I wouldn't even consider it as a possibility for another 3-4 years. And there, in 3-4 years who knows what's going to happen, so it's very hard to say that this fight could ever happen. TacoMuerte 10-13-2005, 10:50 PM I can't believe your serious in asking this question.. |
