The United States surely has to be competing for that honour.... Sure you've got lots of variety, but the quality o food isn't too great overall.

I think the major difference in "American" cuisine is that we simply take others' food and change it around to our own taste because of our Melting pot of sorts. Very few foods are totally American, but many foods change when brought over here to better suit people of many ethnic groups.

And quality of food? Quality all depends on where you eat. McDonalds will be ****ty no matter what country you're in.

I read an interview with a British journalist living in the States who said most food was good except sausage which was nasty **** and had his own favourite shipped in! With the internet these days geeks of all persuasions get together and find ways to jam these things and get their favourites out. It's pretty pathetic, really.

Detroit is actually really notorious for doing this for sports-related polls. Notice there's always Detroit players starting in the all-star games (if there's one that's actually worth voting on). I think Americans grease other nations foods up a bit... Like Pizza's in Italy are usualy always stone based, and they have a sour/bitter/tart taste to them because the purée and the way they're made. - VERY DIFFERENT to what you get in Pizza Hut.

But then again... Thai food in England (Thai restruants) is very different to Thai food in Thailand.
