View Full Version : What boxing needs!
Tha Greatest 10-12-2005, 02:50 PM STOP HAVING EVERY FIGHT IN LAS VEGAS!!!!!!
They need to have more big fights in different cities!
Spread boxing around, if you noticed, ever since every fight started going to Vegas, it started going down and down(also ppvs did this too)
So far, they've been goin to chicago more, and Tarver-Jones III was in Tampa which is cool... but they got to do this more...

I do believ we will see more action here in Tampa......The Lacy/Reid fight outsold RJJ back in the day when he was here and Tarver/Jones exceeded that by like 6k so we are supporting the scene here that is for sure.I agree it would make more people be more interested in the sport...PPVs are way out of hand.
Tha Greatest 10-12-2005, 02:56 PM The problem of Las Vegas is......
Hardly anyone lives there.....
You have to buy a plane ticket which cost like several hundred dollars, then you have to buy a hotel which is ****in EXPENSIVE on weekends and fightnights, then you have to buy a fight ticket...

Are you joking? It's got like 450k+ of actual citizens, and thousands upon thousands of people extra are there everyday, and it's the fastest growing city in America.

Oh, ok.
Well, they should spread boxing to other cities, because it seems everything has been in Vegas, except for a few.
agree, spread boxing more to different cities would be nice.
if this is a general thread on what boxing needs, i got some ideas:
- more fights televised!!! i don't care if it's young guys with 4 fights on their record, just televise more boxing dammit!
- cheaper ppv's. there are plenty of people who don't want to dish out $40 to $50 every month or so in addition to thier already expensive cable bill. there would most likely be an increase of boxing ppv sales accompanying a general drop in price.
- boxers should get more involved in thier management. lessen what promoters can do with a boxer's career.
- a boxing channel! whatever the hell happened to that idea?!?!
mic573 10-12-2005, 03:36 PM Vegas venues bid the most money for fights so that's where the promoters go.
I wish they would do more of it as well, in Vegas big fights are par for the course but in other cities fights are a real event.
In ****ty ass Tacoma, WA (30 minutes from where I live)I got too watch Ike Ibeabuchi knock out Chris Byrd, the best talent we have had since is Kingsley Ikeke fighting Kenny Ellis or Emmett Linton.

So far, they've been goin to chicago more, and Tarver-Jones III was in Tampa which is cool... but they got to do this more...I think the fights in Vegas are perfect right where they are.Casinos must pay some money to the commision in order to bring people in.It is nuetral ground for the fighters also. The last fighter that was actually from Vegas that I remember was that kid Sanchez who is the only one that might have benifited from being the hometown favorite.Besides that if you are over 21 you get to gamble, drink, and go to clubs all in town where all the good things in life are legal.
I love going to Vegas, when the fights are here in Staples i dont go cause id rather go to Vegas.
Waz up with my points by the way? and that sig has to go also!!!
bigdlb12 10-12-2005, 04:15 PM I agree, we need to have fights like when ali use to fight, hell my mom even got a chance to go see him fight in tampico tamp mex, who goes and fight there anymore
bigdlb12 10-12-2005, 04:19 PM I need to move to cali, whats the cost of living?

Well, it is cool going to Vegas for a fight, but they shouldn't have EVERY fight there..
They need to spread them out, because some people can't pay like a 1000+ just for a fight, and lets say there's a big fight in the Bay Area, people would go, and the sport will get exposure.
Manny_P 10-12-2005, 04:25 PM I agree. I want Pacquiao fights in Madison Square and Atlantic City goddamn it!!!!!!! Arum always pleases ta Mexican fans. WHAT BOUT ME????!!!!!!
Tha Greatest 10-12-2005, 04:27 PM I actually agree..
Take fights to the Madison Square Garden also!
Vegas is just WAY to expensive for someone to go just for a fight.
Also, Miami, Houston, Detroit, Chicago,New Jersey, etc.
Mayweathers fight is in Portland, Orgeon so that's cool...
Tha Greatest 10-12-2005, 04:28 PM Also, fighters should start fighting MORE! Even against mediocre opposition, just keep active...
I'm sure if Chico comes and fights in the Arco Arena, he will get all of Sacramento behind him!
