View Full Version : Frank Warren offers Audley Harrison the winner of Skelton vs Williams
Martin (Top Knowledge) 10-10-2005, 12:30 PM Frank Warren: "Audley Harrison has asked to be given a shot at new European heavyweight champion Paolo Vidoz - but two of my fighters are above Harrison in the rankings.
Audinary has got my number, so if he wants a real fight against Danny Williams or Matt Skelton any time soon, he can give me a call."

I dunno why I still get frustrated by Audley Harrison... I mean it's not as if the guy is really gonna fight anyone with a pulse.
I think it's his arrogance... "I want a shot at the European champ". But the only fight I can think that may have boosted Audley's European ranking is a Points win over a 42yr old Julius Francis several years ago. (Julius Francis having being knocked out in something like 8 of his previous 12 fights at the time).
Audley Harrison seems to think that the World owes him something?
RAESAAD 10-10-2005, 12:51 PM I was hoping he fought someone like mccline or a guy in the top 15 at least.....I guess Skelton looks pretty good so far but he has the same problem as Harrison...he has never really fought anybody so who knows but Harrison better step it up soon he is too old to be a fringe contender for much longer.
he wont fight either.
abnd i dont blame him, FW has constantly belittled aud in every statement he can.
Then the fight with skelton as on just for FW to put aud's career on hold fora couple of months then it fell through.
i doubtr AH will talk to FW let alone sign a fight with him.
barryboy 10-10-2005, 01:02 PM :D This is the same bloke that said he'd be British champ in so many fights...he hasn't done it yet so he thinks he can just skip a level to the European title? Let him at least fight someone for the chance, Raesaad just reminded me, what happened to the 'I'll fight McCline, Brock & anyone else' talk? not that McCline's anything great but he's a known quantity and someone we could judge his performance on so I wonder if he's going to start all this domestic talk up again, If so he's going backwards by his own estimations, remember the comments of Danny Williams being a ****roach etc? Don't have much time for big Audley these days.
Martin (Top Knowledge) 10-10-2005, 01:04 PM I think they're both to blame...
Audley Harrison rang up Frank Warren and said, I wanna fight Julius Long (who was signed to Frank Warren at the time). But Audley Harrison only offered £3,000.
Frank Warren said, that's a bull**** offer, my fighters have to get paid! So the deal was thrown in the trash can.
That's a true story.

That's funny you say that, because I remember Danny Williams knocking out Mike Tyson, and Audley Harrison jumping up and down trying to get Danny Williams to fight him.
Danny Williams said to Audley Harrison... "Did you call me a ****roach?"
barryboy 10-10-2005, 01:13 PM Yep they were building Harrison/Williams up quite a lot then Audley slagged him off big time after Williams lost to Samil Sam, said he didn't need Danny anymore, he was nothing but a ****roach but as soon as Danny gets a big win over Tyson and plenty of attention, Audley's all over him like a rash! He's like a leech to other people's success.

Yep... Audley Harrison is looking for the easiest route to the top, he wants to fight the easiest people he can. He's obviously had a look at this European champ Paolo Vidoz, and thought, there's an easy fight!
He's not in any position to challenge for the European belt (based on the fighters he's fought), but he's demanding that he becomes the mandatory challenger.
He's been playing on that olympic gold for what seems like forever! I think he seriously needs to step up and at least fight someone near the top of the domestic level, let alone European or World class yet.
barryboy 10-10-2005, 01:25 PM Domestically there's only really Harrison, Skelton, Williams & Sprott so if Skelton & Williams get it on Audley should square off with Sprott and both winners should face off in a final type bout, I wouldn't hold my breath but that's the way I'd like to see it happen.

To be honest, I've never really thought much of Michael Sprott. I think if Audley's going ANYWHERE with his career, he needs to lay down some kind of plan like... Next fight for the British title, one fight against a top ten European fighter to get him a good ranking, then fight for the European belt - (He'll then automatically have a top 10 WBC ranking).
Defend it against some good quality European fighters or drop it and fight someone in America ranked in the top 10.
He's got to get moving coz' time's not on his side... And Michael Sprott is just a journeyman from Reading really.
That's just the way I see it.
barryboy 10-10-2005, 02:09 PM Sprott's not great but he's not too bad either, since Williams beat him the first time no one's really had an easy time of it with him so he's decent enough, we basically agree though, the big man needs to get his arse in gear pronto ;)

We agree... But I think we're also both similar in views in that:
"I'm starting to just not care what Audley does with himself nowadays!"
LOL!... ;)

No need for all that marlarky. He just needs to swallow his pride, make some sacrifice and sign with an established promotor. Then its all sorted. Signing with a well known promotor will get him the fights and will mean that he has just enough time to make some money that will see him comfortable for the rest of his life.

Actualy, I think you're right on the money there. ;)
the giant one 10-11-2005, 10:46 AM I just want to see Williams actually step in the ring. Once he does that, then talk should progress.
