Great talent, I really like the kid.

Good technique, his record is deceptive of his power but he stopped Jose Lopez for the first time ever. Good win over Jamoye too.

Haven't seen many of his fights, but every time he's on a card I'm going to make sure I'm watching it.

Month away from the Briceno fight.

Finally you post something good. And i agree he is the truth. Good speed great combos and is tall and rangy. The only thing that worries me is that he is in the best division of boxing.

First time I saw this kid fight, he had something like 7 fights. He was good, aggressive but very raw.

Then I saw him with like 15 fights under his belt and he looked completely different. He looked polished, boxed well and was pin point in his shots.

I am really impressed with this kid, he's going to go places.

The guy is a great body puncher. I think they should still move him slow because he's only 23 and has time to develop.

They should put him in with Rafael Concepcion.

Fights for his first world title (IBF) on 2nd June against South Africa's Vusi Maligna.

He's on the undercard of Tarver-Kayode, I cannot wait to see him in action!

who you got tarver or kayode?

I haven't seen Kayode before, so I'll blindly pick Tarver. I intend on watching some of Kayode's most recent fights later on and if my opinion changes, I'll edit this post.

Tarver is 14 years older than Kayode and the Nigerian is 29 years old.

:lol1:

He did look good against Green though, maybe he's gone one good performance left in him?

He's got much more skill than Marg. Even though he's a volume puncher, they are very different in their styles. Marg was a pressure, come forward banger. Leo is a pressure fighter but has really good accuracy and defense inside and isn't a big puncher like Marg was.

I think the sky is the limit for Leo Santa Cruz, the kid seems to work extremely hard and has improved so much since I first started watching him.

I think the kid is a Margo with TONS of Skill. I think he's a bigger puncher than what we say on Saturday, Vusi is a warrior and took more than most can take. Had that been most others they woulda been outta there. The kid is a beast. Its time to see him step up some more, now that he's got a strap I'm sure we'll see more of him.

Re-watching it again.

His left hook to the body is just beautiful. I hope they put him in with a boxer next time out, to see how he copes with the movement. Also, I don't think he's a big puncher. He has very good technique, places the shots well and a high workrate is what enables him to breakdown and stop opponents.

Will be out again before the end of the year defending his IBF title.

3 Julio Ceja Mexico
4 Joseph Agbeko Ghana
5 Jamie Mc Donnell United Kingdom
6 Vusi Malinga South Africa
7 Tomas Rojas Mexico
8 Sergio Perales United States
9 Dayer Gabutan Philippines
10 Malcolm Tunacao Philippines

IBF don't have anyone in 1st/2nd place of the rankings, Santa Cruz should be fighting one of the above boxers.

I think a fight against Rojas would be great.

Santa Cruz fights more like Zack Padilla than Margo. He simply has more defense and is offensively smarter than Margo ever was. Margo is the bigger banger.
