If belt dont mean anything, whyd they originally decide to fight for the belt?

I didn't say it doesn't mean anything, because what is professional boxing about? Becoming champion. Nobody says they wanna grow up and be a fringe contender. No kid idolizes DeMarcus Corley, although they should.

What I was saying, is regardless of whether or not a belt is on the line, the fight should be better than most recent ones, and we should all be happy it is taking place.

Plus, if you are a Showtime subscriber, this ***** is free. :boxing:

They dont literally mean the belt means nothing. They mean the belt isnt important. The climax of the fight is enough to make it a great fight and it will still be the fight it was always gonna be regardless of belt....

Of course they want the belt..but they both know and more importantly the fans know that they are the best and the belts dont mean anything. Its about who you beat not how many belts you got.

lmao you make too much sence.
but yeah now days with 20 belts in each division, i think being the champ has lost something because now you are the ibf champ there is other "champs" there.

Apparently Castillo, since he started his whining campaign the day after he lost it.

A belt is a belt...

We all know who the real champion is...

If Castillo wins, he will be the champion...even without a belt..

Jesus Chavez, and Juan Diaz are both champions, but everyone knows if castillo wins he will be the REAL champ even if he doesn't have a belt

Does having a belt makes you an elite fighter in your division? I'm not too sure about that one, there's plenty of top notch fighters without a belt.

the belts do mean something, its da prize. the fight wont be much difference, but castillo shuldn't have come in 2pnds overweight in a fight this important.

The whole reason thei is a rematch is because Castilla *****ed to the WBC, now the belts are worthless I guess...

Great thread topic my man, although a little "trash talking" before a big fight always makes things a bit more interesting.

You're right, if Castillo had made weight, then boxingscene wouldn't have had to deal with 100+ retard threads.

Rick should sue Castillo for wasting his bandwidth.

People forget that rules are there for a reason. The guidelines on weigh-in is the minimum requirement every professional fighter MUST comply with. Turning pro means acting also with professionalism.

Now I would like to believe that Castillo aint cheating and that something went wrong. But still, he asked for this rematch. If anything, he should take the lead in complying with obligations incumbent upon him. Diego fulfilled his end of the bargain by granting his challenge for a rematch and making the weigh in. Now why the hell would Castillo not fulfill his own end of the bargain?

Castillo has only himself to blame. He had months of preparation to meet this requirement.
