What would've happened if these guys would've faced each other in their primes?

Tyson was 5x the fighter the other two were.
Maybe they'd last the 12, but Tyson would have beaten the **** out of both along the way.

I think Mercer would win. They both fight very similar, but Mercer has a much better set of whiskers. My guess would be Mercer with a KO before the 8th round.

Let's take it match by match:

1. McCall vs Tyson

2. McCall vs Mercer

3. Mercer vs Tyson

I actually think McCall has the best chin. When he fought Lewis the second time, Lewis caught him with huge uppercuts and overhand rights (Lewis' trademark punch) and he didn't even blink. Maybe the crack made him "invulnerable".

Tyson can take some serious shots...

Tyson Prime or Tyson after he signed with King?

Tyson smokes both guys, however McCall and Mercer both have better chins. Tyson's chin is good but as we have talked about before once you crack Tyson a few times you derail him from his offensive rythim...he is not the same offensive animal after he gets cracked with a couple of good shots...McCall as you stated against Lewis can take anything you dish at him, was it the crack? Probably but Im always impressed with a fighter that will do/take anything to win.
Examples of that would be Tyson biting Holy's ear off, say what you want about Mike but he was going to get Holyfield that night one way or the other....Vargas on roids against Oscar was impressive too, he was not going to lose and if there was an advantage to be had he was going to go get it!

As for Mercer, his fight with Tommy Morrison showed how great of a chin he had, he was cracked for four rounds straight with some of the best left hooks I have ever seen...he shrugged them off and almost killed Tommy Gunn, point is that his offensive game was never derailed because of the shots he took, granted Morrison was a bigtime fader and that had a lot to do with it but with Tyson again he can take a ton of punishment but his confidence and offensive destruction go right out the window.

In my opinion McCall was a whole level below the other two. Great chin, mediocre boxer.

Mercer-Tyson would've been a classic but prime for prime I think Ray's lack of stamina would've made the difference and Tyson would've won a decision something like 8-4 or 7-5

I have only seen McCall against Lewis. Do you think his ability to take a punch was affected by crack? The reason I'm asking is because I couldn't believe the shots he was taking from Lewis with his hands down - particularly those uppercuts.

Tyson had no Stamina either, really. I don't think Mercer was any better or worse in the Stamina DEPT. McCall was in the right place at the right time.... That's about it. He ranks up there with Akenwande. I think Tyson would have finished Mercer by the 8th round.

I think Tyson wins both of these fights.
By Decicion over Mccall and by late round TKO over Mercer.

I think Mercer Tko's McCall in the 9th.

TYSON is still the powerful one but during the era of Mercer Tyson will look smaller in the heavyweight division. :)

OK i like your post, but lets not talk bad about foreman, no one KO's that old washed up foreman you speak of. Foreman in his return was too smart and tough to be KO'd. Foreman at that age would have beaten mike senseless

It took 10 rounds for Douglas to put Tyson down. Tyson was TKOed by Holyfield in the first, and DQed in the second. He wasn't knocked out. He was KOed by Lewis in 8, and Lewis was a hard hitter, by anybody's standards. The last KO can be blamed on a lot of things, including lack of heart, etc. His chin wasn't all that bad, though.

Also, 90's Foreman was a great fighter. He was very smart in the ring. No one could have KOed that Foreman.

i read that when he was 8 years old ,mccall fell from the 4 floor of his building ,remained conscious , was brought to the hospital where they found he had NOTHING , no even a small broken bone.

he was 8 , just think about his chin after puberty ...

McCall has the best chin since Cobb. He's really right up there with Chuvalo and Tobb in the toughness department, except that he has a harder punch than either of those guys.

It's too bad the guy never had his head on completely straight because I can really see McCall at 100% beating a prime Mercer AND having a good chance against a prime Tyson with his chin and great right hand. I would consider McCall's right hand equal to Tyson's in terms of power but not as quick. Tyson never faced a guy with McCall's combination of chin and power. If he only had the heart and mentality to match, he very well could have worn Tyson down and KO'ed him.
