I fought at the first of August and then haven't done shit since then. I fight again in late December (maybe even New Year's Eve) so I started training again on Monday.
Now I really let myself go since I last fought. I fought at super midleweight (weighed in at 167). Ideally I'd like to fight at middleweight or maybe even jr middle, but it is going to take a lot of training to get there.
Anyway, since I last fought I have put on 16 pounds. I pretty much quit eating healthy and didn't run or anything. So I am taking it kind of slow starting out. This week and next I am just going to eat better, run about 3/4 mile monday-friday and do some sit ups/crunches every day. Then during the last two weeks of the month I am going to step it up and run about 2 miles a day, continue to do situps/crunches and do some weight training 2-3 days a week.
Then in November it gets serious. I don't like to overtrain right before a fight so the month before I fight is the month that I kill myself. I will run everyday and go back to the gym to do some bag work and sparring. I will also do that for the second week of december and the rest of december I will probably run about a mile a day.
I have to get back down to 168 and I'd like to try to get to 160 for this fight, but we'll just have to see how things go. I need to make a decision about what weight I will fight at by late November so I guess that I will have a better idea which weight I will be able to make by then.
But shit, I am out of shape. The 3/4 mile tonight just about killed me!! I am getting sore too. My advice? Don't take 2 months off in between fights! ;)
