IMO Michael Vick is way overated. He hasn't established himself as a legitimate NFL QB and I don't think he ever will. He has the big arm, and obviously the ability to run, but he doesn't have the big time accuracy and he seems rather fragile. Every time he gets hit it seems like he gets up holding something. A couple of weeks ago when the Bucs destroyed the Falcons he got up limping and grimacing after nearly every hit he took. He did the same thing this past week. Running QB's who rely primarily on their legs don't last in the NFL. There comes a point where they have to stay in the pocket and become a passer instead of a runner. I don't think he has the skills to accomplish becoming a proficient passer. I predict he will have a couple of decent seasons and the rest of his career will be marked by inconsistency and injuries.

Michael Vick has all the potential in the world, but he isn't performing up to that ability because the Falcons haven't found an offensive scheme to fit him yet. I think he would do well in the old school run and gun

History shows the type of Quaterback that Vick is.....DOES NOT win the Super Bowl.

He's an unbelievable athlete.....but not a special quarterback.

He's a totally overrated QB, period.

I think he is overated also. He doesn't like playing the west coast offense like they are. He doesn't know how to drop back and get rid of teh ball quickly. Maybe overtime it wil come but i think by then he will get hurt to bad. He needs to quit running the ball so much. I guess only time will tell.

I think hes overrated and have thought that for a while. It pisses me off how every Atlanta game is on TV and how the announcers of the game are all over Vicks balls. Its ****ing annoying. I say they go down early in the playoffs.

Overrated.......but he wins games. He can't read a defense to save his soul, and he throws every pass 100MPH, but he does have the intangibles that could make him a champion.

Bring back Steve Bartkowski!

I lived in Hotlanta during the Bartkowski years. I thought that the rules committee would have to convene especially for him to draft a new rule against "Roughing the *****".

Vick is not overrated...nobody is running around saying he's the best pure QB in the NFL...that destinction is given to Manning right now. Vick is however the best all around player. Put 90% of other QB's on that team and in that horrible excuse for a west coast offense and they wouldn't win as many games as he does. All that needs to be shown when thinking of Vick is that recent Carolina game. The hottest defense and team in the NFL has the Falcons in hot water on 4&12 and Vick scores the touchdown to tie the game.

As for his technical skills, no he's no manning or exceptionally accurate or aware quarterback. He doesn't check off all of his receivers and read defenses perfectly, but there's no one else in the history of the sport that can make the plays he makes (with the exception of Barry Sanders of course :D ). Not to mention he gets very little time to do what he wants, his offensive line BLOWS. Peerless Price and Alge Crumpler aren't enough passing options either. I mean, ANYBODY could succeed if they had Harrison, Wayne, James, Stokely, Pollard, Clark, and an offensive line who overachieves BIG TIME.

To sum up, Vick's passing abilities outside of his powerful arm are average, but he gets the job done and is not overrated. If we are placing rating on whether you win games and make the big plays for your team.

Good post Gringo.
These guys need to be realists. Their is NOBODY else that can single-handidly take over a game like Vick.
If he happens to get hot during the play-offs, a couple of much better TEAMS could fall to Atlanta.
