View Full Version : who do ya'll think had the best reflexes in boxing Versastyle 10-02-2005, 04:06 AM my pick would be tyson. he jus knew when those punches in the 80s were coming it was like he was a psychic, and he was so quick to get out of the way of them.he couldnt be touched punchers_chance 10-02-2005, 04:09 AM Floyd Mayweather or a prime RJJ. M26 10-02-2005, 04:10 AM Definitely Muhammad Ali. He had almost superhuman reflexes. Mike Tyson was quick as well, but no one really comes close to a prime Ali. Roy Jones jr also had awesome reflexes. 666boy666 10-02-2005, 04:41 AM I'm the biggest tyson fan ever I've always hated rjj But even I cannot contest that rjj had without a doubt the quickest reflexes I've yet to see anything from Ali that would be considered superhuman. He was very good at winning fights he shouldn't be able to win, but superhuman? hardly. He used the rules of boxing to his advantage more than anyone else has, and should get credit for it, but the way he beat men in the ring could never have happened outside of it. Floyd doesn't have fast reflexes, he's just fast period. Rjj had crazy reflexes. I can't remember the fighter, but I saw a guy once throw a punch at roy, and roy hit him with a left and a right AND got out of the way before the punch could follow through, it was like matrix **** man. Tyson was fast as hell, but no one comes close to RJJ, the most talented man I've ever hated :) medium-deek 10-02-2005, 05:07 AM naseem hamed Tha Greatest 10-02-2005, 05:13 AM Hmm... I'd have to go with Gatti or LaMotta, their reflex's were unreal! Rovers 10-02-2005, 05:38 AM naseem hamed definatly in his prime he hardly got touched by robinson The Pretender 10-02-2005, 05:47 AM Tyson a bum that got KTFO by two journeyman tomato cans and quit on his stool like a *****. He got one reflex, to QUIT! And it's faster than any other fighter out there. Compare that to a true champ like Ruiz who never ducked anyone in his career and challenges everyone anywhere anytime. And speaking of the latin king, he has top 5 handspeed of all time. 666boy666 10-02-2005, 05:50 AM definatly in his prime he hardly got touched by robinson yeah..........then there was that whole barrera thing.......you know, the one where he kind of like ...um.....made the prince look like marry poppins? 666boy666 10-02-2005, 05:52 AM My vote is still RJJ, but Sugar Ray Leonard was pretty good in that area too JUYJUY 10-02-2005, 09:04 AM Roy Jones Jr had the most naturally fast reflexes. kerrminator 10-02-2005, 10:02 AM naseem hamed when he was under Brendan Ingle as Ingle trained him to exell in what came naturally. any doubters should watch the Robinson fight as this was his true prime. Tarver is my dad 10-02-2005, 10:16 AM I would have to say Roy Jones. His reflexes were cat-like and no one comes close with the reflexes that he had. Versastyle 10-02-2005, 02:49 PM Tyson a bum that got KTFO by two journeyman tomato cans and quit on his stool like a *****. He got one reflex, to QUIT! And speaking of the latin king, he has top 5 handspeed of all time. i did say an 80s tyson had good reflexes let me repeat it an eeeeeeiiiiiightiessssss tyyyyyyyyyyyson. and ruiz got beat by somebody that was originally in the 175 lb weight class. why do u think he went for ruiz instead of anyone else, cause he was the sorriest champion in the heavyweight weight class and it would look good on his resume to beat a heavyweight champion.and i think the real reason why he went back down to weight cause he knew all the other champions were better then ***** ass ruiz. Versastyle 10-02-2005, 02:50 PM prime tyson hardly ever got hit and when he did the commentators would make a big deal about, now that tells u right there on how rare him getting hit was. Tony Blitz 10-02-2005, 03:10 PM prime tyson hardly ever got hit and when he did the commentators would make a big deal about, now that tells u right there on how rare him getting hit was. I love the fight where he's fighting that tall skinny guy with the fro (the one who he charged at with one punch after a KD) and the guy's on the ropes throwing at Tyson and Tyson just keeps slipping under all of them until he lands a liver shot. JohnL 10-02-2005, 03:15 PM 1. Ali 2. Benitez 3. RJJ 4. Whitaker 5. Ray Leonard 666boy666 10-02-2005, 03:49 PM I love the fight where he's fighting that tall skinny guy with the fro (the one who he charged at with one punch after a KD) and the guy's on the ropes throwing at Tyson and Tyson just keeps slipping under all of them until he lands a liver shot. Michael "jack" Johnson. That was one of my favorite tyson schoolings :) Then again, ole' "jack" wasn't exactly a heavyweight lol Versastyle 10-02-2005, 05:04 PM i liked tyson vs eddie richardson when he gave him that left hook he carried him half across the ring when he flew like suuuuuuuuuuuuper maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaann!!!!!! The_One77 10-02-2005, 05:09 PM Roy Jones for me, the guy was awesome in his prime. Versastyle 10-02-2005, 09:43 PM i think the best reflexes have to be based on the punch stats on how much they got hit. Dempsey 1919 12-16-2005, 04:30 PM ali, ali, ali. if the sharp-punching liston couldn't hit him, then probably nobody could. there you have it! Undefeated 12-16-2005, 04:35 PM il either say floyd mayweather or RJJ but ima have to go with ALI!!!! deuce_drop 12-16-2005, 04:36 PM Pernall Whitaker, hands down, the guy could fight with his feet glued to the floor and no one could hit him. he was probably the most elusive fighter ever, at least in the top 5 of most elusive fighters ever!!!!! and he fought everyone he never ducked anybody, he took on all challengers...... Dirt E Gomez 12-16-2005, 04:38 PM RJJ, without a doubt, not a single thing in my brain says otherwise. In his prime his reflexes surpassed any other fighter's reflexes. MickyHatton 12-16-2005, 04:42 PM Herol Bomber Graham. He used to have a party trick were he would pay people money if they could land one shot on him in a round (public) Maybe he should have paid Julian Jackson? DiegoFuego 12-16-2005, 04:54 PM Floyd Mayweather The Noose 12-16-2005, 07:05 PM naseem hamed when he was under Brendan Ingle as Ingle trained him to exell in what came naturally. any doubters should watch the Robinson fight as this was his true prime. And who was Robinson??? When Naseem stepped up his oppostion....he got put on the seat of his fancy dancing pants!! Not once, but several times. He didnt fall over, he was KD. By three different fighters in a short in his "prime". The Noose 12-16-2005, 07:08 PM I also say Ali, Whitaker, and Jones. Leonards movement was great, but he was hit. Yet it was so damn hard to lay a solid shot on Whitaker. Just watch the DeLa Hoya fight. Oscar was a very fast, big puncher with a good reach, and he hardly caught Whitaker cleanly through 12 rounds. Unbelievable reflexes. JUYJUY 12-16-2005, 07:19 PM Early Herol Graham was untouchable (literally), nobody could lay a glove on him. In terms of punch stats, it's hands down Herol Graham.. because he never got hit. Most avoided fighter ever. 1994/95 Naseem Hamed (before he stopped training) was on a different planet to anybody else in boxing, and Roy Jones Jr was anybody else. But Roy Jones was born with exceptionally fast reflexes. The Noose 12-16-2005, 07:25 PM Early Herol Graham was untouchable (literally), nobody could lay a glove on him. But Roy Jones was born with exceptionally fast reflexes. Before he fought world class opposition. Before he was exposed. JUYJUY 12-16-2005, 08:23 PM Before he fought world class opposition. Before he was exposed. Absolute nonsense. Hamed looked absolutely awful after he stopped training, similar to Tyson after Spinks. Hamed looked so much slower it was unreal, a joke. Londonerzz 12-16-2005, 09:03 PM roy jones jr...then mayweather and prince naseem hamed The Noose 12-16-2005, 09:21 PM Absolute nonsense. Hamed looked absolutely awful after he stopped training, similar to Tyson after Spinks. Hamed looked so much slower it was unreal, a joke. According Naz, in his words, Ingle NEVER really trained him. He always fought with his own skills and natural reflexes. Im sure ur rite, he did look bad after Robinson. But to me it seems a very easy excuse to say, he stopped training, and give his opponents no credit whatsoever. Who did he fight before Robinson that is of note?? Are u saying he stopped training as soon as he became world champion?? He became world champion, fought some mexicans no one has ever heard of. Then when he fought decent fighters (decent, not great) he was caught with shots. I just think that with his style, and the confusion of his opponents he didnt necessarily prove that his reflexs were anything great, but his awkward flashy style made him look great. Most of the time he was at distance, with a very wide stance. His opponents couldnt get near him. Great reflexes? Nothing special. Duran was twice as good. The Noose 12-16-2005, 09:25 PM Actually, if im honest. I need my Naz memory refreshed. Its been a while. Zab Super Judah 12-16-2005, 10:58 PM roy jones had some amazing reflexes in his prime. It allowed him to do the things that no other fighter could do. grayfist 12-17-2005, 12:01 AM The puerto Rican Dean of Defense early in his career: WBenitez. He slipped punches by scant millimeters before unleashing counters. Some fans thought of his style as a tad boring but experts widely agree that he raised defense and counter-offensive close to the level of Performing Arts. Willie Pep, of course. And, Nicolino Locche of Argentina, who ruled the Jr. Welters from Dec. 1968 to late 72. He lost only 4 fights and KOd only 17 of his 117 victims, relying all throughout on his defensive instincts and peppery, albeit, light punches, all products of his extra-ordinarily quick reflexes. He was dubbed, "The Untouchable." All in no particular order. ;) Keleneki 12-17-2005, 09:35 AM Ali, Whitaker, Benitez and Jones Jr. My goodness, those four were pretty much untouchable in their respective primes. marvdave 12-17-2005, 11:30 AM SRL Jones,Jr. Ali top three for sure marvdave 12-17-2005, 11:32 AM Roy Jones Jr had the most naturally fast reflexes. props to you for not saying Chris Eubank :D Manfredo Jr 12-17-2005, 11:34 AM Prince naseem :D Pico Hollywood 12-19-2005, 05:14 AM Wilfred Benitez, Ali and Mayweather NAB 12-19-2005, 07:26 AM Has to be Jones Jr. The guy was a freak. number6 12-19-2005, 08:51 AM Whitaker and Prince Naz deserve a mention but if i have to pick out one man it would be Roy Jones jr. jspivey 12-19-2005, 05:19 PM Who has the best reflexes in boxing? In this generation, Floyd Mayweather is atop of the list. Or Roy Jones Jr. in his prime. Before these two, I'd have to say "Sugar Ray Robinson. These guys were all untouchabale. Mayweather still is for the time being. |
