Was chatting to Martin yesterday in reposnse to how bad its got on non stop boxing.

And we came up with the idea of sorting a lounge out for those who have proved themselves worthy of being invited.

This is strictly a quality over quantity thing, now the problem is that only the creator of that lounge can post new threads on there, however there are ways around this.

Suggestion would be to alsmost set up a global and a non stop boxing thread that can run and run, as well as have more specific threads when the mod has time..

I stress that this is for people who know their stuff only and anyone guilty of gross misconduct will be evicted.

Now what im looking for is someone who will be here regularly to post new threads and basically run the thing in collaberation with its memebers, I would do it but i never post at weekends and some of you may want to discuss the fights just gone on fri and sat.

Any volunteers (cough cough bazza).....


Barry / Martin / Rudy / Snoopy Smurf / the iron one / marvdave / bombadier / Jabsrstiff / Chito to start.

would be my first suggestions as core memebers.

Let me stress we want a place to talk boxing with the most knowledgable folk on here though im bound to have missed people off i respect and like from that list, its just a quick one and im positive with enough decent posters we can make this work.

I'm definitely up for this. I've always tried to be objective with the fights I've seen and always try to tell people not to be so nationalistic, as boxing is an individual sport and not a political one like the Olympics (IMO, of course).

Also, I do not put others down if their opinions vary from mine. I think the mods of this new forum should issue warning points for outward insults. 20 points is equal to a one week suspension of no posts.

However, as I post usually while I'm at work, I can not view the forum all the time. I actually "peek and post" maybe 4 times a day (sometimes more or less, depending on how busy I am. I've gone for weeks here without posting in a thread.

This would be nice. Less superficial arguments, more substance. Intellectual debates without the insults is a welcome change. :)

Poor Martin's probably lying under his desk sweating bullets just thinking about it! As I say it is a bit of work for the mod but if we do something like that where a suggestions topic gets made a sticky so it's right there that would make things a bit easier I suppose.

Sounds like a good idea to try. You know, normally I don't like something that smacks of elitism, but they way things have been in NSB lately...I don't know, I just can't post much in there anymore. Especially, you know, I'll try to put up something about a prospect or a lesser-known fight and it will get drowned in the one million posts about the same old **** (which are all naturally just guys flaming each other).

A couple of issues come to mind:

1) Will this be organized as a member lounge? If so, there will be problems for those of us who are already members of another lounge, since I think you can only join one at a time. Martin will be in the same boat.

2) What do we do with users that have strong boxing knowledge but can come off as a bit of an ******* sometimes? I don't mean the people that flame and contribute nothing. I mean the ones that know their stuff but are pretty disagreeable a lot of the time.

I know in the torrents site they moderate the forum and it works out pretty well. However I like the user base here much more, which is why I can't emigrate over there :) .

I'm pretty new here and enjoyed my first few days, sort of. All the signiture lines and "avatars" made viewing very clunky, so I took Reeno's advice and screened that baloney and that was much better. Then I noticed that any decent thread or posts were quickly buried by flaming juveniles spamming up the board. How many more threads do we need on Wlad besides the couple of dozen already established?

I guess this Reeno guy runs the website and would have to be convinced to allow a private message board. Somebody would have to volunteer to screen and let him know who is allowed in and who is kicked off. It would be a bonus if all nonmembers could also view the posts and if they wanted to respond to the posts they could on a "debutante" board where they present their responses. Someone would have decide who knew enough to be invited in and who was too foul mouthed, racist, or immature to be allowed in. BTW, I don't mind ignorance in boxing, few will ever know it all, but it's the AH boys who watch a few fights and just slam fighters with vulgar insults who really have no interest in boxing. They're just the drunken fans throwing trash and brawling at sports arenas all over the country.

Sounds good. They do that in other forums and it works well, as long as someone(s) has the time to go through everything or handle complaints.

As for the lounge issue, I was thinking that a solution for those of us in another lounge would just to be to create a new username if we want to join a second. I know that Rick has strict rules about that sort of thing but seeing as we have a real reason for doing this (and not just to pretend to be a girl and **** with people, or whatever) that he would let it slide.

ther will be no room for constant flaming, constant abuse in anything other than jovial form in this lounge. No nationlisitc xenophobia, this a place for internet friends to discuss the sport we love but have a larf too and of course flex theior boxing klnowledge, which is pretty consirable.

so if you cant handle that then dont ask to be signed up.

anyone constantly contradicting the above will be kicked out.
