View Full Version : Mechanical Errors i saw in Cotto
El Jesus 09-24-2005, 10:53 PM Cotto drops his right hand as he is throwing that hook, when he throws a power shot, he has a tendency to drop a hand after its thrown. He also holds his hands so high, that a Mayweather/Hatton could go to the body all ****in night. Just because he survived this guy who was obviously tired and such, doesnt mean that this was impressive by any means. To me, Cotto took a step back in this fight, and i dont like that, because i want Cotto to fight Hatton and beat him, but after this ****, Cotto would be torn apart by Hatton with sheer pressure, and Hattons relentless ability to stay on him.
I was dissapointed tonight, and had this guy been in proper shape, i think we might have seen Cotto hit the canvas for real in probably the 8th.
TyrantT316 09-24-2005, 10:55 PM you can take any fighter and point out little mechanical errors...no fighter is perfect...
people claim to want to see a fighter who has been winning impressively easily to be tested...the second he is tested and STILL comes out on top (something I cannot say for someone like Harris)...you guys bash him and say he was not impressive...we already know what Cotto can do vs overmatched opponents...we just didn't know what he could do vs an opponent just as strong as he is and the will to win...now we know...all that is left to know is how he handles someone that is world class...grade a...a pound for pound fighter...I was impressed tonight
ottoevans 09-24-2005, 10:56 PM yeah when this Kid fights sumone with power hes gonna get killed. Hes lacking a lot of skils.
IwatchBoxing 09-24-2005, 10:59 PM Cotto use to show alot of skills, mainly counter punching and moving around, tonight and in the Corley fight hes been following and trading like hes Trinidad, I think the pressure is hurting his skill, I hope he clears his head before Hatton or Mayweather come for his belt...

I like Cotto and thats why im unhappy with this fight. I hope he looks at the tape and corrects this basic **** i pointed out. You say no fighter is perfect, but when your imperfections can lead to a serious KO, it has to be pointed out. Besides, its a boxing site, the only people who come here are the hardcore and the like, which is why i posted it in the first place, get over it.

imagine if that was Hatton who he was fighting today
he would have gotten killed
ottoevans 09-24-2005, 11:09 PM **** i think Gatti would kill him. Gatti has more boxing skills now that Cotto
jack_the_rippuh 09-24-2005, 11:10 PM Cotto vs. Gatti would be a straight war!

Cotto kept off Torres when he jabbed and boxed like he normally does, this "war" didint show me anything and i give him no credit for doing what he did because he didint have to do it. He survived because this guy ran out of gas. And even you, the biggest PR boxing fan on this site can see that. Cotto shouldnt be trading like that because the guys at the top of the division would kill him if he keepts that up. I hope he does clear his head and quit ****in around.
cotto is doing **** man. he kept on trading, not listening to his corner. the last 2 rounds he listen and boxed. RESULT = cotto won

Thankfully the guy he was fighting got tired out so he was able to do so, do you think Hatton is gonna tire out after trading like that? Thats my point. I just hope he remembers how well he boxes, uses his jab, and tries to control fights through his counterpunching and jabbing, not trying to go toe to toe with a bigger puncher.

Cotto is fighting the same as he has did his entire career, he is just starting to fight dudes closer in size to him and he can't just bully them out of there like in the past, he has always been there to be hit, but the fighters were lacking skills, courage and power, but as we can see last night, once he steps in there with a true champ, it will be lights out for cotto...Know I know why he looked so scared at ringside when floyd destroyed gatti...Cotto knows floyd will make quick work of him....Cotto= Way Overrated...
