Vitali is certainly the dominant Heavyweight right now, but seriously, how good would he be if he were 6'3"- 225, instead of 6'8"-250? Would he still be a top ten Heavyweight?

View Full Version : Vitali Klitsko = Primo Carnera? Pno 12-19-2004, 08:10 PM I think so... and the reason why is because, well, you see... they say the only reason that VK is winning so much is because he uses his height / weight etc to his advantage... well it's his smarts in the ring that knows which strengths fit which scenarios.. If he were 6'1 or whatever, he would use his smarts to find what strengths he had with that body and use them for his advantages for each situation. this is a mark of a true champion... now i'm not saying that VK would be as dominant if this were the case, but he would be a good tough opponent and probably champion, as it is one of the marks of a true champion.. :) IMO neils7147933 12-19-2004, 08:18 PM Vitali is certainly the dominant Heavyweight right now, but seriously, how good would he be if he were 6'3"- 225, instead of 6'8"-250? Boxer2005 12-20-2004, 01:20 AM Highly doubt that he would still be as good. tri4ben2 12-20-2004, 08:17 AM VK is a pretty good fighter that happens to be 6'8, 250. He uses his height to his advantage the same way that Byrd uses his reflexes, and Ruiz uses his affection.(Affectionate people like to hug) How come there are no threads that say if Tyson didn't hit so hard? Height is not everything, and he would still be pretty good at 6'3, 225. He woudl still be top 10. Since I would bet that VK could beat any heavyweight right now, he could certainly beat every heavyweight that is taller than he is. They always say the same thing about basketball players. Yao Ming would still be in the NBA if he was 6 inches smaller. Would be be as good, probably not, but he would still be better that the other guys that are that height, like Bradley, Smitts, and Ilgaskas. Bombardier 12-20-2004, 09:36 AM When big guys are talented people say it's because they're big. When big guys suck, people say that it's because they're big and never had to learn the proper skills (think Manute Bol here). Point it that no matter what size a guy is he still needs to smarts to compete. People say Vitali is limited but why should he use any more skills than he has to when it works out so well for him? jabsRstiff 12-20-2004, 09:47 AM He (Vitali) wouldn't be himself, now would he ? What if Tommy Hearns was 5'9" welterweight ? Would he have dropped the one-twos on guys , like he did at 147 ? twospeed99 12-20-2004, 02:20 PM Would lewis of been the same if he wasn't freakish of course not.I always said there should be a super heavyweight division for these guys.Tyson had no chance against Lewis due to the size difference, I thought it was stupid the fight even happened due to that alone.Lewis shone because of his size. jabsRstiff 12-20-2004, 02:33 PM Would lewis of been the same if he wasn't freakish of course not.I always said there should be a super heavyweight division for these guys.Tyson had no chance against Lewis due to the size difference, I thought it was stupid the fight even happened due to that alone.Lewis shone because of his size. Well....then Tyson's early record should have an asterisk next to it, because he KO'd a good amount of CRUISERWEIGHTS. Pno 12-20-2004, 02:49 PM If Floyd Mayweather had breasts and a vagina, I don't think he'd be as good a boxer as he is now... INFAMOUZ 12-20-2004, 04:08 PM I watched Klitschko's impressive destruction of Danny Williams , so dominating was Vitali in a couple of the rounds Danny only landed like 4 'punches'. I know some of you Klitschko haters out there will disagree but until proven otherwise Klitschko is the best Heavyweight on the planet. The way he's fighting right now he can rip through the heavyweight division without a problem. It's hard for me to imagine heavyweight pretenders Byrd, Ruiz or Tony offering much of a challenge. Lewis if he can get in shape would probably offer Klitschko his biggest challenge, but you have to wonder if he'll actually come out of retirement, and if he does can he shake off a couple years of inactivity and ring rust. Lewis would be wise to keep his "legacy" intact, I suspect if he does come back Klitschko puts his lights out. Pno 12-20-2004, 04:16 PM especially when VK realized that he could in fact beat Lenox. once that happened, LL realized there wasn't much of a chance stopping VK's iron will. But it must be tempting to LL to be the one that has the validity to test that will and that theory... but at a BIG RISK. |
