I'd still vote for Tarver/RJJ, but this KO was big

i think jones being ko'd by tarver was more shocking cause he was still considered the best fighter in the world and the ko came very suddenly. the johnson fight was like watching ali vs holmes, everyone knew from the begining that he was done.

I think the punch that Marquez landed on Ruiz was the absoloute best punch of the year.
It was a perfect, brutal uppercut.

The Marquez KO of Pete Frissina was pretty dominating, too.

Let's not forget Brewster vs. Wladimir Klitschko was this year too

Jameel McCline's TKO of Wayne Llewellyn was humorous, too. Llewellyn was pounding himself in the head as he got up the 2nd time. The whole fight lasted like 2 minutes. It was total domination.

Jantuah KO 1 Rubio belongs on the poll, too.

sorry Yoko I disagree (of course we are all in title to our own opinions) Jones Being KO by Tarver did shock the boxing world but it was more of a "lucky Punch" than a nice punch. Plus it was in 2 rounds. Now as for the Glen Johnson fight, Jones was behind on all the cards (I had him winning only one round) and then gets KO by a fighter ,who all the HBO Comintators were saying that Glen had no Power, That Shock us all over again but the most shocking news that night was that Jones was lossing the fight bad. This takes us back to Jones vs tarver 2, now which jones did tarver beat that night ,4 monthsb4 the Glen Johnson Fight?

Tarver's KO of Jones Jr. should be the KO of the Year. I agree that coming into this fight, he was still considered as a top P4P fighter. We knew that Tarver could win the 2nd, considering how he could've almost won the 1st fight if he just let it hang out. But, not by a shocking KO.

I'm affraid Glencoofe Johnson gets that award, that was the punch of his career. He was winning that fight anyway and to pull that out of the bag was unbelievable. Even though i was really upset and miserable because he ended the career of a great fighter in my opinion i was also happy for him as many commentators say "He's been to hell and back in his career". You couldn't wish for a nicer champion, such a true gentlemen and really friendly guy. His words at the end of the interview told you how genuine he is, he said something like "I know i'm not the best but i'll fight the best". Those very words earned the respect of thousands of fans hearts even though he did beat a great fighter.

I'll give Tarver his dues too, he was the first man to do it and that shouldn't be overlooked but Glencoffes has to be the most devasting KO.

the sweetest one, was my boy, rafa marquez. its BEAUTIFUL when you can render your opponent helpless off of a counter. that was the sickest for me all year. then it was an uppercut!!!!???? what???? and this ruiz guy was no slouch either, he took out 2 HIGHLY regarded prospects in vinson, DC native :( and speedy gonzalez.

it was ugly because Johnson hit Roy right behind the ear, making him lose his balance, and if that wasn't bad enough his head bounced off the canvas when he landed. it was ugly to watch

Most shocking had to be Jones Tarver because it was "superman" getting ko'd.


Robbie Peden's KO of Nate Campell deserves a mention. I mean has anyone ever heard of someone getting KO'd while doing the hands down chin out taunt to a hurt opponent.

If this wasn't the KO of the year, it was certainly the most humiliating.

I say Jones vs. Tarver.I don't think I've ever been so shocked by a fight.I just kept thinking it was reported wrong.I'm not even a Jones fan and I could'nt believe it.

I agree that punch straight froze ruiz.

I had to go with Johnson V Jones. You know at the time - even though Tarver beat him - it seemed very unlikely that ANYONE would beat up Roy Jones the way Johnson did. It was not a one punch - put you on queer street the way the Tarver fight was - and Jones didn't have Dundee in his corner to tear a glove like Ali did against Doug Jones. Johnson gave Jones a beat down. When I was watching I just thought about Jones fighting Brian Bryon and how he came at Jones the same way - and Jones just played him - letting him punch, staying cool, and knocked him out with the lightning combos - 8 and 12 punches at a time. By the second round it was over, but with Johnson he just took it and took it for nine rounds and then went down hard. I think that was the biggest knock out.
I also think Arturo's and B-Hops body punches were great. I really am a sucker for a great body punch knockout though!

Wasn't a one punch KO but for brutality I would say KT ko Sharmba Mitchell
