Who did/do you suspect of being older than their listed age? No proof needed, this is a speculation thread. I've got plenty in mind if they don't get mentioned, but I'll start it off with an easy one:

Sonny Liston

Ken Norton and Joel Casamayor. With Norton and Casamayor I have no doubts.

Good catch with Norton. I wasn't sure if anyone would name him.

I saw McCallum about 10 years after he retired and could not believe how old he looked. He looked like a champion from the 1960's would.

Look no further than the Dominican Republic...just like in baseball anybody boxing from the DR is probably a couple years older than they claim.

That can be said of many Cuban fighters too.

Norton was for a fact listed younger than he actually was in the 70's. By the time of the Holmes fight he was nearing 36 years of age and wasn't 32 years old as claimed.

That was a tremendous performance by a near 36yrs old to go 15rds at that pace and against a younger guy coming to his prime in Larry Holmes.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Marvin Hagler yet. I heard those rumors for years.

That's a new one for me Scott so I'm learning something here. I thought Hagler did look old in the Leonard fight which I did not have him winning.

Now I'm wondering if anyone else here ever heard that? I'm sure I heard it more than once during his title reign.

I've heard this and it was almost generaly accepted by a lot of UK fight fans during the 80's. I don't know why, or whether or not it's true, but the rumour itself has often been discussed in boxing circles.

I'm fairly certain however, that Dennis Andries is quite a bit older than listed.

i agree Hagler was often thought to be older than what he was listed yet i had an old Ring Magazine with a small write-up about Marvin as a 17yr old so i think his age has always been correctly stated. Denis Andries was 6 or 7yrs older than what he was listed.

Liston was close to 40 when he lost to Ali. My guess is around 37 or 38. Years later when he fought Wepner, Wepner said the first thing he thought when he saw Liston for the first time was "wow, he looks really old". Liston still won easily in what would be his last fight. By the way, Liston fought that fight without pay, as he bet his whole purse on Mac Foster against Quarry (Quarry won via ko)
