I really wasn't overly impressed. If you look at the knockdowns, they were both pushes.

Ward would have regardless, and likely by KO, but the opponent was a definite wuss.

He quit after he got punched in the mouth only 21 punches landed by Ward

were we watching the same fight? from what I saw he was ready to go on getting his ass handed to him and seemed pissed when the ref stopped the fight.

He did want to quit between rounds, though.

I don't judge Ward badly on this fight, though. You can't really judge someone making their debut under such a high-powered microscope.

I wanted to see how this kid deals with pressure. He was pretty good at it. Having your pro debut on HBO is pretty hard. I see some potential in this kid. Good luck to him.

I did not really like it. I hoped he would box more. It was more of a brawl.

Not impressive Ward should of calm down a bit but I won't hold it against him. His opponent was one of the worst I have ever seen.

The guy he was fighting was a joke so we didn't get to see what Ward can do yet.

Mighty Mike and Andre Ward both have similar styles...they both box on the outside with str8 jabs both have power..... fun to watch and are very acurate(from what I saw tonight)

I'm not that impressed by Ward. I saw him in The Olympics and he was only the best of a bad bunch.

the fight was sloppy but ward did show us some flashes of what he could be. at some moments he looked really good but a move down to middle wont hurt

I think a move to middleweight would make that division even more interesting over the next few years

This is why they don't show professional debuts on HBO all the time.

Ward looked good at 164. I am not sure if that is a weight class, but he could get down to 160 without much of a problem.

When they were not wrestling, Ward showed quick hands and was able to land combinations and get out of the way.

I am not sure why the fight was stopped, but Ward was going to win by knockout sooner or later.

They were not going to put him in with someone who could beat him.
