The men at the sharp end of Zuffa LLC. have this week refused to renew the contract of formerly ranked number one fighter in the world, Fedor Emelianenko meaning the Russian heavyweight will be either forced to retire from the sport or compete in the minor leagues.

The news comes via LifeSports.ru who reportedly spoke to sources close to “The Last Emperor” earlier this week. According to the report negotiations stalled after the owners of the UFC came to the table and interjected themselves into the proceedings

Wow.

Dana White lets his petty problems get in the way of what the fans want. Its sickening.

He was doing damn good in the 1st round against Silva. I don't think he's done at all. I hope he wins in July and then the fight after that so maybe theres some hope to renew it.

I don't get it, Big Nog only fights like once a year I don't see why Fedor can't and do his sambo stuff at the same time. And I don't understand why the **** M-1 needs their name everywhere. Fedor is M-1, without him their garbage. Their doing nothing but hold him back.

UFC don't co-promote with other companies. Get over it.

they're not idiots i really doubt this
i mean they still gave cro cop yet another fight even if he was way past it
and they will do the same with nog

They probably want to "re-structure" his contract. Strikeforce probably paid him an arm, leg, and left eye. Now that he isn't what many thought he was anymore, the UFC probably don't want to pay him **** until he gets on the up and up again.

They should sign him. Brock-Fedor, make it happen!

IIRC, Fedor only signed his current deal before the Bigfoot Silva fight. So it's not like he has any reason to re-negotiate things now.

I think that the story probably is BS.

I want Fedor to retire, I would hate it if this out of prime Fedor would lose to Brock and Dana going nuts saying "See, this guy has and always will be a bum."

That's the last thing I want.

Umm

two facts:

Fedor's contract is not with Strikeforce, It's with Showtime.

Evgeni Kogan says there is no truth to these rumors, and provided the source of the rumor on Twitter.

in my opinion even in his prime fedor would lose to these huge skilled superheavyweights like lesnar, overeem, carwin, and we've never seen him in again a skilled complete wrestler like cain or even josh barnett, MMA today is on a completely different level to MMA 6years ago

I disagree with your picks and the suggestion that Fedor never beat a top wrestler.

Also, Carwin beating Fedor, really? Shane Carwin can't even beat his meat for more than 3 minutes without gassing out.

Lesnar, Carwin, and Cain are not skilled (international level) wrestlers nor are they complete fighters. Brock probably doesnt even know most submission moves. Theres only a handful of Olympic level wrestler in the HW division and Fedor has beaten one already.

A prime Lesnar or a prime Carwin would most likely loose to a Prime Zulu. MMA hasnt evolved at all, its devolved to the point where fighters only know how to blanket another fighter. Fighters in Pride work so they could be in a position to slap on a submission, fighters (Zuffa) now work so they could blanket another person for the whole fight. Ground game used to be called grappling, now its just called wrestling.

Of course Zuffa isn't going to give Fedor that type of sweet contract that he had with strikeforce. He is going to have to renegotiate the terms for him to get in to UFC.

Lets talk wrestling! Alot of mma assume mma wrestlers are top teir guys. Really great wrestlers. Watch Dan Gable then watch absolutly anyone in MMA you feel could possibly be good. The difference is as big as the difference is MMA boxing vs traditional boxing. MMA is young and I don't really think we've ran into anyone truly great at anything just yet. The truly great mma fighter can roll with Gable and punch with Robinson. Maybe one day that kid will show up but right now skills need developed.

That's a bit much I would say.

However Mark Coleman is probably the best wrestler we've seen in the HW division to date.

And anyone who thinks Brock Lesnar is some sort of novelty apparently has never seen Mark Kerr.

Ahh, Mark Kerr.

I'd say he's the most tragic story in MMA to date.

Yeah, I wouldn't like that either. DFW getting the last laugh. I don't think Fedor is shot or washed up. He needs to fight more often, thats all.
