Former WBA Welterweight champion Ike "Bazooka" Quartey will return to the ring on January 14th for the first time in five years according to his new promoter, Lou DiBella. Quartey will be taking on an opponent to be announced in his native Accra, Ghana. After that he'll likely try to fight his way into the 154-160 lb. mix that includes Oscar De La Hoya, Winky Wright, Bernard Hopkins and the recently resurrected Felix Trinidad. Quartey, 34-2-1 with 29 KO's, last fought against Fernando Vargas in April of 2000. He has not officially won a fight, however, since stopping Ralph Jones in 1997.
