I've unfortunately never been to a fight. I wanted to go to Marquez-Katsidis last year, but couldn't find somebody to go with me. I do, however, have an older friend who was actually ringside at Pep-Saddler II. I just thought that was the coolest thing. And my dad went to Barrera-Morales III, the lucky son of a ***** hahaha. What's the best/most historically significant fight you ever attended?

I would have to say Glen Johnson vs Chad Dawson That was a good fight.. I went to the Jones vs Tarver 3. The fight wasn't great but the excitement bfore the fight and the buzz was just electric. The only exciting part of the fight was round 4 and 5 and the 11th round.

The best fights I've seen live were club fights from years ago. Few here would even recognize the names. If we're talking about major fights, the two best would probably be Mosley-DLH I and Lewis-Klitschko. The heavyweight fight was noteworthy because the arena was totally dead for the entire crappy undercard. As soon as the two big guys came into the ring, the atmosphere was unlike any I had ever seen. I guess there still really is something special about a heavyweight title fight.

I was there for this one, too, & having only attended some twenty-odd fights live in my life (involving world-class fighters), this was a cracker, doubtless.

The best fight I saw live, though? I cannot go past Benn-McClellan.

Thomas Hearns vs Shannon Landberg in 2006.
It wasn't a very important or exciting but it was heart warming for me to watch Thomas Hearns go out on a high note.

One of my trainers was near ringside at Ali-Frazier I

The yanks and brits are surely lucky to have been to those fights mentioned. You guys should remember to be appreciative to have those fights close by. :fing02:

For me it's Kessler-Froch without a doubt, and I was with a yank poster from these boards and it was the greatest athmosphere he ever witnessed as well and that includes Barrerra-Morales if I remember correctly.

You've never seen anything like it when Benn crashed through those ropes, or when McClellan was counted out on his knee. In those two moments especially, it was just positively thunderous. I'll never forget it.

Frank Bruno looked as if he would have an aneurism at ringside, screaming at Benn.

I have only watched Benn Vs Mclellan once since the day I watched it live.

I struggle to watch it knowing the tragedy that comes at the end.

It has to be better than the American commentary from Ferdie Pacheco. He said the same thing, but he is a medical doctor and should have recognized that McClellan was obviously in distress.

Saw Hector Camacho fight at Casino Rama, watched Byron Mackie fight there on another occasion. Not really good fights where I live. I prefer watching sports on T.V anyway.

I remember seeing that on Television.

You could see him from where we were seated, at the opposing end of the ring. He was such a big man in person, even from across the ring itself. The entire place was rocking from start-to-finish (even more lively, IMO, than Hatton-Tszyu, which was massive) & Bruno was at the forefront, as caught up in it as anyone. He really appeared aout-of-control from where we were sitting, but it was hard not to get caught up in it.

As I said, when Benn went through the ropes, & when McClellan was counted out, those two moments took a thumping arena into the excitement stratosphere.

HE should have sensed something, Gerald was blinking like mad and his gumshield was hanging out most of the night.

More often than not good people tho WBY.

Gerald does sound like a bit of a cunt in real life to be fair, most stuff ive heard or read hasnt been nice. Still he was one of my favourite fighters along with Nige

Such a shame that fight ended the way it did after being such a classic

the best scrap i've ever seen was froch - taylor

those guys threw the **** down and landed some thunderous punches
froch got off the deck for the first time in the 3rd

and JT didn't fold until he had absolutely nothing left.

i was very close. could have tossed a bowling ball into the center of the ring.
i sat next to a couple of people from JT's camp
and they were SCREAMING
it sounded like he was being murdered

one of them was deaf
or had a terrible speech impediment
he kept yelling "combinachuns," "Throw cumbinachuns, jermain"
translation : combinations
and by the time the fight was stopped and i looked to my left he was already in the ring.

i will never forget it.

i watched JT from his time as an olympian
saw him win the legit world championship at MW
saw him get dusted by pavlik

and then i bought a ticket and saw his last great fight.

I haven't attended many big cards. The only relevant one was Calderón-Segura. The crowd was absolutely into it in the final 2-3 rounds before Calderón took the knee. Very epic!

I'll be attending Juanma-Salido in April. :boxing:
