View Full Version : Mosley Moving Down To Welterweight!
kborges 12-16-2004, 06:02 PM In a move that many will feel was long overdue, former three division champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley will be moving back down to welterweight. Mosley has always ruled the move impossible, but impossible is nothing as the man who thrice bested Oscar De La Hoya told **********.com, "I'm on a new diet, I'm eating a little differently and I'm making some small changes to my nutritional program that are going to help stay strong while losing the weight," said Mosley is walking around at 158 as this goes to print.

neils7147933 12-16-2004, 06:04 PM poor Oscar - Shane follows him everywhere.

Glad to hear it..I've always liked him better at welter. He's much faster and all around more effecient. I wonder who he'll take on first...hmmmm :)

I was thinking the same thing.
jack_the_rippuh 12-16-2004, 06:07 PM I see..
Maybe him and De La Hoya can go at it one more time.
Anyway, does this make the Welterweight division a division what's back in business?
PacKillsMorales 12-16-2004, 06:07 PM wonder who will beat him up next..
dont think hes gonna shine again at any weight.
good luck to the guy though.
neils7147933 12-16-2004, 06:08 PM You guys will probably hammer me on this --
But I still think Cory Spinks is the man at 147. Not only that, I think Juday might still be #2!

I'd say it makes the welterweight division a bit more interesting. With Cintron, Margarito, Spinks, Mosely, Maybe forrest & Mayorga. Let's just see what happens.

in a rematch i pick judah to ko spinks...
dont think hed make the same mistake twice and
mess about but ya never know...he could end up
doing the funky chicken (lol spinks cant ko him lol)
neils7147933 12-16-2004, 06:11 PM I would love to see Mayorga vs. DLH. Oscar is a great boxer, but he doesn't have Trinidad's power, so Ricardo would threaten a KO for 12...

I must say I agree with this comment. I don't think it matters what weight Mosley fights at anymore, the real good fighters will consistently beat on him.
Of course I may be jaded because I feel Mosley wasted a great oppurtunity to stay at the lower weights in his prime where I thought he had a decent shot at going through Kostya T., etc. and actually earn his moniker. Instead, he got addicted to the juice and got denser than a bowling ball.
Unfortunate.

I agree...I wouldnt mind seeing him and Forrest go at it one more time myself. But him against Cintron and / or Margarito would be very cool too! ;)

He passed all the tests over the Balco drugs, etc...I wont claim that he was using until I hear evidence that proves differently.

did DLH sign Mosley to golden boy promotions or not?
Mosley vs DLH 3, sounds good to me

I'd watch it! :) I was hoping that HBO might do like they've done the past few week's and on friday and Sat. replay Jones-Tarver I and II..but, not according to their schedule. They did that with Barrera-Morales I and II the weekend of the rubber match, and they did that with 3 different fighters against Klitschko before his fight last Sat.. I dont get why not show the Tarver fight's before his fight Sat?? I mean, if everybody does hate Tarver and all, it's not like he was in the ring by himself...everybody's (but mine) favorite was in there with him, and that would give me the chance to tape them again!! :(
neils7147933 12-16-2004, 06:33 PM you don't already have those on tape, tracy?
tracylee 12-16-2004, 06:37 PM you don't already have those on tape, tracy?
Had them...got stupid and lent them out and never got them back. That's just 2 of the really big, important title fights that I never got (and never will get) back! Thanks to HBO I was working on replacing some of them...Needless to say Tracy (my personal Roy Jones imitation :D ) does NOT send her copy out to anyone, under any circumstances whatsoever!! I send copies, or originals that I catch AFTER taping mine...I learned! ;)

No he didn't sign with golden boy.
neils7147933 12-16-2004, 06:43 PM I think GranTorino is hiding from the boards like a guy who won't let answer the door because his rent-to-own furniture payment is late.
He's been holding onto that Ruiz tape like he's waiting for a copying method to be invented.
tracylee 12-16-2004, 06:45 PM No he didn't sign with golden boy.
I'll apologize in advance to all the folks this will irritate..but I was thinking "cant beat 'em...sign 'em" if he had indeed signed Mosley! :D I mean, he did just sign Hopkins didnt he?

I was wondering about that tape the other day! So, he's the one that has it now huh? Maybe he just got busy with the holidays or something...who knows?

when did they have a third fight?
tracylee 12-16-2004, 07:12 PM when did they have a third fight?
:D I, too, only remember them fighting twice (and I wasnt high during that period either :D )
kborges 12-16-2004, 07:16 PM I believe thrice can also mean greatly or extremely. Which I think is still an overstatement.

yup ur right
it does mean extremely
and like ya said
very big stretch
Sir_Jose 12-16-2004, 07:18 PM DLH beats everyone with ease at 147.
Name me one thing Spinks does better that DLH?
Mayorga is nothing but a hyped up jouneyman. Spinks could'nt punch either and he was never threatend by Mayorga

Really? With all the reading I've done in my time I'm amazed that I've never seen it used that way! Learn something new everyday, they say!

Yes, they are. My pic would probably be the Mayorga vs. Tszyu ( I just know that Kostya would kick that pig's ass!!) and like i posted earlier, I'd like to see Mosley-Forrest 3 take place, although it will probably never happen :(

Tha Greatest 12-16-2004, 08:19 PM dlh - mosley
both at their best weight=beautiful fight
Truth 12-16-2004, 08:36 PM Great news, I hope Mosley can regain some of his past glory at welterweight.
INFAMOUZ 12-16-2004, 08:36 PM I think it's a good move for him. as long as Vernon Forrest dosen't come back down. I think he beats everyone else at that weight. Especialiy if he holds his power. The interview said he is walking around at 158. That's just 11 pounds. He shouldn't have that big a problem. He just has to diet, and train right.
loangunZ 12-16-2004, 10:48 PM wow both DLH and shane moving back down this is some of the best news I've heard in a long time
BDBowe 12-16-2004, 10:55 PM Yes! bring on DLH III!
Duncan 12-16-2004, 11:28 PM He passed all the tests over the Balco drugs, etc...I wont claim that he was using until I hear evidence that proves differently.
Point taken, tracylee. I suppose we should give him the benefit of the doubt. But in my opinion, the fact that he testified at that grand jury hearing, simply will not publicly deny the use, and just got way too cut, dense, and slow seem to indicate to me that he probably was involved. But you are right, it is just my opinion. I hope you are right, because I never thought Mosley would look for an illegal leg up.

All I really remember reading about the whole mess was that he DID take all the tests to prove his innocence...to me that's what the tests are for. I am very bias on this cause I like him alot and whenever a fighter looks 'off', at any time, for any reason, it's just assumed that they're using or something. If they had test results that proved he was in fact using steroids then of course I'd believe it and be very disappointed in him..but that's just not what the tests said. If they had I'm sure they would have suspended him the same way they did Vargas when he was caught using them. I'd think so anyway??
bigdlb12 12-17-2004, 11:53 AM I would love to see mosley vs Spinks and DLH vs Zab and visa versa and then have DLH and Mosley go at it again

Maybe so...both of them have more power than the other 2 (dont they?? :o ). Either way they would make great fights with a little of everything; power and technical skills so I'm digging it! ;)
