View Full Version : A thing I noticed about Sam Peter

All morning today I have watched numerous Sam Peter fights

Diaz
Sykes
Martinez
Williams

I have noticed one thing consecutively in these fights. Peter does this very often and he drops his right hand ALL THE TIME! As most evident in the Sykes fight, Sykes landed his jab clean numerous times. I dont want to make this into a biased or hate threat for Peter but it worries me what could happen if he tastes that left hook on the chin that is WIDE OPEN from Wladimir. But at the same time neither fighter shows much defense and they will both eat a lot of punches. For either fighter to win they have to possess more defensive skills than offense. I cant predict a winner but Wladimir is the more skilled and seasoned and has a pretty strong jab that could land flush on Peters head followed by one of his vicious left hooks.

Peter start working on his defense.

Yes, his hands never seem to be in the right place and his footwork is pretty terrible as well, but it's still so hard to really evaluate him because of his level of opposition. Maybe he's hiding some skills he hasn't had to employ up to now, or maybe he really is as one-dimensional as his detractors say he is.

One thing I can say about him is that especially in the Diaz fight he showed impressive aggresion that thew Diaz right off. Even if Wlad tests his chin if Peter is as keyed up for that fight he could very well overcome the holes in his game. Even when he had that 2-point foul, I mean it was a cheap shot but it must have been scary as hell to have that big guy swinging at him when he was on the ropes. Intimidation can play a big factor.

Most definately aggression can destroy Wladimir but he is no push over..I believe he has one of the best jabs in the business and Sykes repeatedly landed them but didnt follow through. Wladimir always throws his jab and follows with a hook that is what he is known for and Peter can eat them with no problem. However, Peter can rush Wladimir and get him if he wants. Either fighter is their for the picking it is just who will strike first.

Samuel Peters is another Ike Ibeabuchi. Look for this guy (as long as he dont rape nobody) to win the Heavyweight title in time. He has power and speed. Quick knockout of Klitschko.

I believe Ike is the better fighter of the two...I see similarities as far as power and that they are both from Nigeria but that is it....Ike had possessed actual boxing skills.

Which is exactly what Peter is open for....In the Sykes fight Sykes threw his jab in succession landing 3-4 jabs in the face of Peter and Peter let his guard down and ate them, and all Peter did was take a step back with no footwork at all..Imagine if Wladimir does the same but follows through with a hook? Peter would be in deep trouble.....

True indeed I noticed this too and actually thought Sykes at least was going to give him and pretty good fight he looked like a pretty good boxer but Peter finished him with like a 15 punch barrage so the way I see it one good shot to stun Wlad and if he follows it up with a barrage like that Wlad will not get up either , on the flip side same goes for Peter, Wlad is a great finisher as well but I like the younger ,more confident Peter to do the finishing just my opinion tough.

Leo-That is how Wladimir has to beat Peter and you know what? That is exactly how Wlad fights all of his fights....

Raeseed-To beat Peter you need to fight like Wladimir, Jab and hook, jab jab jab hook. But to Wladimir you have to rush him...Both fighters fight the styles to knock out one another and it will come down to who will crumble first...

true, peter isnt a very good boxer, but hes a slugger. thats why, when he ko's vitali in 7 or 8, he will be consideribly behind on all judges scorecards...

Peter's gonna recieve such a one sided beating, it wont even be funny. I've said it once and I'll say it again:

This'll be replay of the Vitali-Williams fight.

Like I said, Peter isn't talented at all. He throws wide punches and has bad, bad footwork. He's gonna eat a ton of punches, and through accumulation Wlad is going to knock this guy out.

Yeah he is really in for it. Peter has never prepared for...nor expected a shooting right hand. He fought guys who like to lead with punches off the front foot.....like Williams, Diaz, and Shufford, and dont necessarily throw off the back foot like Wlad does with the right. guys get off balance, dont follow up, and eventually leave themselves open for wild haymakers coming from their blindspot.

A 6 inch height differential in coalition with superior skills, and overall betterness spells problems for the hairy yeti.

im gonna be almost mad when he wins so convincingly that i wish i bet my lifes savings.

that being said ill also put all my points on wlad, however few they may be, im sure one of the wlad haters have 20 grand or so to spare.

for boxing's sake i hope wlad wins. i just don't see peter as becoming a well rounded fighter and respectable champ.

manny has stated that he was going to make it a rough training camp. especially since he came off such an easy win over that scardy cat castillo. but, then i also have to mention castillo wasn't wlad's first or even second choice for an opponent. remember lyakovich claiming passport problems or some **** like that and byrd seemingly just not wanting to fight. wasn't byrd offered almost twice his usual salary to fight wlad, in the states even?

hope it pays off. he delt with brewster's initial onslaught pretty well. i guess we'll see in a couple of weeks, hey.
