As some of you know, Jerry Rice retired today. I didn't see any threads on it and that's just downright disrespectful.

Rice was EASILY the best wideout ever, and all things considered, he's probably the best football player ever.

He had everything....records, championships, natural skill, etc...

He owns 38 NFL records and has the record for rec yards/tds by a mile.

Pay homage to Rice NOW mother****ers, because NOBODY will ever again touch his numbers.

I knew he was going to retire this morning and yes I thought of makeing a thread, but then I thought to myself, Jerry played 4 wonderful seasons in Oakland until he pitched a fit and took off to the seahags, then the ulimate slap in the face to me was going over to the broncos. So all I have to say to Jerry is this...............**** OFF!!!

Rice hung on for a long time. About 4 years after I thought he was done. Rice's numbers are incredible, and I do admire his skills. With that being said. I wish I could have seen the look on his egocentric face when Shanny told him you didn't make third reciever.

I agree, Al Davis offered him a nice send off and he refused it. Glad to see him get ran out of the league. Traitor.

One Sunday a couple of years ago I was listening to some AM sports talk show. The host said that Rice was the most egotistic person he had ever met. I thought "man he must be pretty bad cause this guy interviews players all the time."

True class act. Loved him on my Niners. Owens could take more than a WRing lesson from this guy.

Rice is by far the best NFL player... ever. I was mad that he retired because I was looking forward to him playing the #3 receiver..... It's a sad day, and he'll always be remembered as the best.

he actually did pretty well on the raiders given his age. no he did pretty well period. they just wanted younger legs running i guess.

remember rice's last game with the niners? owens broke the league record for catches in a game. he had over 20. that was probably the only time i was mad at owens. o yeah i hated when he called garcia a ****** too.

I thought he was going to sign a 1 day contract with San Fran and retire a 49er.

Anyway, he was the greatest wide receiver and arguably the greatest football player ever.

It's largely a matter of opinion, but a case can be made for Rice.

I can hear Rice now at the Hall giving his speach. I would like to thank my hands first (kisses them) and my legs second (gently rubbing them) and to all the QB's throwing me the ball I would like to say this, your welcome. To all the coaches I played for I would like to say this, your welcome. I am the best, the rest of you are garbage.

 That's not what Rice is about. Don't get carried away just because you don't like the Broncos.

I remember growing up I used to almost hate Jerry Rice. He would molest the Cowboys every time it seemed. That pissed me off, and I just couldn't stand him. Over the years I appreciated his skills more, and his low-key style. Most of the top wr's these days don't have an ounce of the class that Rice had. Rice was even very good late in his career, and his records will probably never be broken (not with 16 game seasons anyway).

Maybe Rice and Emmitt can both go 1st ballot together.

RICE owns all wr's in history. TO will never be remembered like Rice, not on his level.
