View Full Version : Felix Trinidad vs The Hitman Thomas Hearns
Tha Greatest 12-15-2004, 04:33 PM What u guys think bout this
both fighters in their prime of course
fight at middleweight
wat u guys think will happen in this fight
u think tito can handle his power?? lol..(ya right)
i predict Thomas Hearns by a 2nd round knockout tha same fashion he did against The legendary Roberto Duran
Tito just cant handle the detroit cobras power
and tito doesnt move around much
Ranger2408 12-15-2004, 04:35 PM tito would win
Sir_Jose 12-15-2004, 04:36 PM Hearns was a much much better boxer than Tito. Tito can look amazing when he has the right guy in fron of him, but he was'nt even competative in his two biggest fights.
Hearns stays on the outside, flicks jabs and moves and walks Tito into right hands all day.
Hearns KO 3 after dropping Tito once or twice
Tha Greatest 12-15-2004, 05:09 PM tito would win
u out of ur damn mind
dansweeney 12-15-2004, 05:11 PM hearns would kayo him easy, tito has never faced a guy like hearns, lethal right hand, and we all know tito doesnt have a granite chin, hearns on his best night between 147-160 could beat anyone in history, that includes hagler if he ever rematched him, tito would be outgunned in this one
Xecutioner 12-15-2004, 05:19 PM id say if they fought 10 times hearns wins 7-3 . titos bad footwork and lack of head movement would just spell doom. unless you have a bowling ball head like hagler there is no way youre walking through those shots. his jab was a mile long and he moved extremely well. two things tito has no answer for. imagine if de la hoya and hopkins' jab gave him trouble hearns' jab was better than either of them. hearns has every punch in the book, left hook was great, maybe the best right hand pfp in the history of boxing. one of the greatest jabs ever. on the other hand, tito definately has the power to knock out tommy if he got careless. so there is definately that chance that tito can get in range but with his inability to get past hearns' jab i seriously doubt it. lets not even talk about speed difference either, hearns had much quicker hands.
marvdave 12-15-2004, 05:42 PM at 147, I like Hearns
at 160, I lean towards Trinidad.
147 I see more of a Boxing match with Hearns winning by decision.
160 I see more of a slugfest with both guys Trading bombs. I would guess Hearn's chin would give out before Tito's...what a fight it would be. Great match-up.
SweetScience 12-15-2004, 06:15 PM Hearns by KO early.
Fiscalizer 12-15-2004, 06:19 PM I'm a fan of both fighters but I'll pick Hearns over Tito because the former is a more rounded fighter than the later.
You guys are talkin like Hearn's chin was iron, although i agree Hearns might win, u forgettin he was up on points until the last couple of rounds of the fight against Leonard until he couldn't take anymore of them shots the Sugar man was throwin. Who knows what would happen if Tito landed somethin
SweetScience 12-15-2004, 06:39 PM You guys are talkin like Hearn's chin was iron, although i agree Hearns might win, u forgettin he was up on points until the last couple of rounds of the fight against Leonard until he couldn't take anymore of them shots the Sugar man was throwin. Who knows what would happen if Tito landed somethin
That was 15 rounds. Still wouldnt matter...Hearns KO early.
Xecutioner 12-15-2004, 06:39 PM who is saying hearns' chin is iron? if you look at it from a match up point of view its just terrible for tito. great jab, great movement, devastating right hand. how is tito getting past the jab? ray had his ways to get to hearns , even with all of his physical talents and skill he was still at a huge disadvantage when fighting hearns because of that right hand you HAD to respect. it took him 14 rounds to find his spot to stop tommy. ray would beat trinidad even worse than hearns imo, 10-10 times at welter weight. but like i say, trinidad has the power to make a difference but he has to work so hard to get into a position to use his money punch when hearns can throw his right hand at will. both ray and hearns murder de la hoya as well :D
IwatchBoxing 12-15-2004, 06:42 PM Tito by KO
boxing fans always look at the past with rose tinted glasses. who really knows what would have happened. tito would have deffienetly given him a good fight, thats for sure
Exciterx24 12-15-2004, 08:02 PM Trinidad is my favorite fighter of all time. Hearns is one of my favorites too. I think Hearns might win this one but there is no damn way that Trinidad would be Koed in 2 or 3 rounds. That's such bull. Trinidad has so much heart and has never been truly hurt in the early going. Still, Trinidad has a chance to win if he connects his left hook, because Hearns' chin was not good.
Keleneki 12-15-2004, 08:18 PM I think Hearns would KO Trinidad in similar fashion to the way he took out Pipino Cuevas. Although Tito is a better fighter that Cuevas, I imagine that The Hitman would catch Trinidad within the first 3 rounds. Hearn's right hand was like a laser guided missile at welterweight.
Colonel Jones 12-15-2004, 09:25 PM I BELIEVE THAT HEARNS WOULD BE FAVORED IN THIS FIGHT. BOTH FIGHTERS WOULD OBVIOUSLY HAVE A CHANCE IF THEY LANDED THIER PRIME SHOT. THE INTRESTING THING ABOUT THESE TWO FIGHTERS IS THAT I BELIEVE TRINIDAD WOULD HAVE FAIRED BETTER AGAINST THE FIGHTERS THAT GAVE HEARNS TROUBLE (eg..leanord, barkley) BUT HEARNS WOULD DO BETTER AGAINST THE VARGAS'S AND DELAHOYA'S. IT WOULD PROBABLY BE A TOSS UP IN VEGAS, BUT I'VE GIVE THE MOTOR CITY COBRA A SLIGHT ADVANTAGE. GOOD FANTASY MATCHUP!!!!
Colonel Jones 12-15-2004, 09:27 PM Continuation......the Main Reason Is That I Think Trinidad Would Be An Easier Target For Hearns To Hit. The Longer You Stayed In The Hitman's Range, The Less Likely It Was That You'd See Victory.
jack_the_rippuh 12-15-2004, 09:31 PM I don't think Hearns can KO Trinidad, I think the fight will get stopped by the ref after Trinidad gets knocked down bad and manages to get up to a Hearns barrage on the ropes..
Tito's got too much heart to be KO'd in the ring..
Kimmy 12-15-2004, 10:16 PM Yeah but Roberto Duran had heart and look what Hearns did to him. I think Hearns by Ko within 7 rds but i would give Tito an outside chance because of Hearn`s chin. But on teh form book, hearns by stoppage!
comepana 12-16-2004, 12:43 AM Man! it is a rule for this kind of questions? always the older boxer beat the younger ones like Hagler will beat Hopkins and Robinson will beat them both,Sugar ray leonard will beat DLH,Ali woul beat Lewis and Hearns will...Are the 80's boxers better than the 90's? are the 50's boxers better than those of the 80's?
Tha Greatest 12-16-2004, 12:51 AM luis campas knocked down trinidad
and so did vargas
imagine thomas hearns who knocked out duran in 2 rounds which hagler or leonard couldnt do did
hearns is a beast
Sir_Jose 12-16-2004, 01:25 AM Tito couldn't get DLH's jab are you trying to tell me he's gonna get by Hearns'? come on now.
FistoftheDallasStar 12-16-2004, 01:41 AM Hearn would stay outside of Tito's punching range and box him well. He would touch his nose a couple of times with his right hand and then land a right cross early in the fifth round. Tito would wobble and back into the ropes and get caught again and take a knee and get up at the count of eight. Tito gets agressive and land a couple of good punches that seem to get the hitmans attention. Between rounds Emanuel Sterwart instructs Tommy not to get careless and slug it out with Trinidad. After this Trinidad cannot get inside of Tommy's defense without taking a stinging right cross for his trouble. By round 10 Tito would have to give Tommy more pressure because he is behind on points and goes down for a second time from another thunderous right. In the 12th round things heat up Tommy tries to box his way to an easy decision victory and Trinidad goes for broke and finally corners the hitman and exchange with Tito getting the best of it and finally seems to hurt Tommy. Tommy lands a right again and both fighters are hurt and then a crushing Tito left catches Tommy right on the temple and he falls hard on matt. He barely makes on his feet by the count of 9. He tries to get on his bicycle and escape the round but gets caught again but he smartly takes a knee and he gets up just as the bell rings to end the fight. Tommy Hearns wins this by UD but had to hold on for his life for the last round.
Tha Greatest 12-16-2004, 03:01 AM I BELIEVE THAT HEARNS WOULD BE FAVORED IN THIS FIGHT. BOTH FIGHTERS WOULD OBVIOUSLY HAVE A CHANCE IF THEY LANDED THIER PRIME SHOT. THE INTRESTING THING ABOUT THESE TWO FIGHTERS IS THAT I BELIEVE TRINIDAD WOULD HAVE FAIRED BETTER AGAINST THE FIGHTERS THAT GAVE HEARNS TROUBLE (eg..leanord, barkley) BUT HEARNS WOULD DO BETTER AGAINST THE VARGAS'S AND DELAHOYA'S. barkley beat a old hearns......
Xecutioner 12-16-2004, 03:33 AM im not in total belief that old school fighers always beat new school. i personally believe lennox, evander, tyson etc all in their primes could give hell to heavyweights in ANY era. however, 80s welterweights were just in a league of their own. leonard, hearns, benitez, duran etc etc the guys from the 90s dont even touch them imo. all 4 of these guys would abuse the 90s welters, oscar, tito, quartey, whitaker. their skill level was just that much higher, fight tapes and analysis dont lie. hearns would turn sweat pea into his retarded step child.
dodge 12-16-2004, 06:39 AM Tito by TKO 8.
Hell of a fight!
I'll take Tito at 160lb's.
