does anyone go to ring one boxing in new haven, connecticut?
09-01-2005, 09:45 PM
nope.......why do you ask?

i wanna know how it is, and if the place offers lessons, and who to ask for lessons, and all that? if its a place where you just go when you want and just hit the punching bags, or you can only take lessons.

ask for brian clark...he's a good trainer(gets angry easily over stupid **** but a smart trainer)

I personally, would avoid "brian". He sounds like a guy who doesn't have patience.
I say try 3-4 trainers....see which one makes you want to work, and at the same time encourages you without belittleing you.
everyone else is going to tell you that you suck and are a "know-nothin" punk....get a guy who makes you believe otherwise :)

I've gone in Ring One and checked it out when my coach Gary brought me there. From what I saw, it looked like a very good, well equipped gym. Lots of people to spar with, though most of them looked like middleweights and smaller. He even has a videorecording system set up over the ring so you can analyze your progress. I'd at least check it out, see what kind of vibe you get from it.
The one drawback is that it's in a neighborhood that isn't supposed to be very good...

yeah i know the neighborhood, i got a few good friends who live there, non boxers though, does that place descriminate? where do you box now?

there is like only two white kids i seen box from there...sum kid niclerio and his lil brother...i beat niclerio twice and each time he kept complaining like he was robbed....but evry1 knows he wasn't

I do remember seeing a few white guys, a lanky asian dude, and even a cute ass little asian chick. So no way, they don't discriminate. I don't train anymore but I think about it occasionally. Right now I'm focused (if you can call it that) on my education.

ringo ne has sum real good kids like "the mighty midget", tremaine barr, josh crespo, and these two twins that are pretty good too...brian clark seems to make his kids into strictly boxers...they're very slick but not all of them hit hard ever cuz they just wanna score points with their pitty-pat style...it works really good for them though. like i sed the names above those kids are pretty good

only 2 white kids, i guess ill be the third, and see what happens

dats good dan...wat weight class you gonna fight at???
09-06-2005, 07:24 PM
well i weigh like 130, ive never boxed before so i doubt i'll be competing any time soon, i wanna give it a year or so, so i can get my basics and technique in, i wrestled in the past and i'd rather box than wrestle, and i learned strength has NOTHING to do with it, i'm sure its the same wit boxing. where do you box at 2nd round ko? i remember you saying something about waterbury a while ago?
09-06-2005, 07:59 PM
