Who will unify the titles in the heavyweight division ?

It's likely that no one will. But if i gotta pick someone it has to be the klitschko brothers. as long as Wlad is on the right track, they should clean up, i mean cmon, brewster is garbage, ruiz is not good, and byrd is soft. I would DIE to see John Ruiz try to hug Wladimir or Vitali all night, he'll get his head flown off. I cant believe the V.Klitschko/Danny Williams fight is going to be on PPV though. I refuse to order that

The most likely scenario involves Vitali dropping his belt to someone who then signs with Don King.

Otherwise, the most "unified" this division will get is the WBC champ and the guy with 2 or 3 others - and that's even a longshot at this point.

It's helter skelter on this division rightnow and there's no single DOMINANT figure who is much capable of unifying the belts . . . but if there's anybody worth considering it's got to be one of the KLITSCHO's.

It annoys me just to think of this but Ruiz Could, I mean why not, every time someone think's he's going to lose, he wins, when everyone is certain he will lose, he bloody wins, he slow dances his way to victory all the time, I mean he might be able to hug the klitsko's to death, I don't know all i know is it's possible

tyson will

I'll have to disagree with that - partly because that would require multiple fights for Tyson and I'm not sure he can be CONSISTENTLY dominating anymore.

And also he has that teeny 100 million dollar suit against Don King, so he won't be fighting any of Don's boys as long as that's going on.

I think Vitaly should not fight any of the fighters promoted by King unless he must. For instance, Vitaly should not fight Byrd, because the fight will go to the scorecards, and the decision will go to Byrd as it did in the last two fights. King won't let Vitaly have all belts, but I hope Vitaly can hold on to the WBC belt.

Exactly

as long as King holds 2/3 of the belts he wont let anyone fight for one of them unless he has options on that fighter.

Why is the name James Toney not in the poll?;) He just called those in the list as "pretenders" with no skills. Vitali's the most capable guy out there right now to unify the belts, but then again, you gotta consider Don King's influence too.

Maybe Ruiz should actually beat a top 10 fighter before you say that he is going to unify the belts.

Toney is the only one capable of defeating all the champs, even ruiz, who no one else can seem to beat.

Toney has to stop fighting stiffs like Booker and now he is looking to fight overrated Owen Beck. I'd respect him a lot more if he goes after Barrett when he gets healthy again.

No one else can beat Ruiz? Oh yeah thats right he only fights a shot Holyfield, a shot Rahman, a lowblowing Johnson, and an overrated Oquendo.

Holy,K. Johnson, And Fres Oquendo where all top 5 HW when they fought Ruiz.

Hey i hate Ruiz's style just as much as the next man, but he wins fights, and thats whats matters. Those are 4 really good fighters you named off, and he won against all of them, the only one i thought he could beat was Oquendo

Well that just goes to show you how meaningless boxing rankings can be at times.

Good wins in their previous 5 fights:

Johnson: Maskaev and Donald

Oquendo: doesn't have any good wins period besides a 6 round UD over a young Dokiwari, but then again I'm not even sure how good this guy is after getting dominated by Guinn.

Holyfield: good win over Ruiz. Moorer doesn't count because it was way too many years before Ruiz.

Rahman: beat Lewis and then went winless before getting a title shot

Right.

I used to say "the Klitschko brothers!"...but after Sanders' and Brewster's brutal expose' of Wlad's chin...I'd have to concur with Lennox's trusted rght hand that Vitali's chin is for REAL!

Vitali it is.

I'd pick Vitali Klitschko at this moment in time purely because alot of the other heavyweights seem to fear him. I hope Golota beats Ruiz because if he does i think Golota would be an interesting challenge for Vitali. Although i am kinda hoping Danny Williams somehow manages to pull off an upset this December against Vitali. (It's good to dream)

It was his 99th bday tuesday!

Max Schmeling celebrated his 99th birthday with a few close friends in his hometown of Hamburg. "I am getting older," pointed out the former world heavyweight champion. "It's not a reason to celebrate.
"But now I want to make the 100."
Schmeling is still a fan of the sport. "When there are big fights, I try to watch them on TV," he said. "But I'm no longer getting up at 4 o'clock in the night to see a fight."
His great friend and rival, Joe Louis, died in 1981. Max paid for his lavish funeral and also donated a huge amount of cash to Joe's widow. It was delivered to Mrs Louis at the funeral by Henry Lewin, who as a boy had been smuggled out of Germany by Schmeling during Hitler's anti-Jew crusade.
When Lewin said who the parcel was from, Mrs Louis uttered: "Ah, Max Schmeling. Our true friend."

god bless Max Schmelling one of the good guys no matter hoe they try to paint him.

i dont think we'll see the titles unified for a while, cause king has 2 of the belts(i dont count the WBO) and the only guys that get shots at ruiz or byrd are other king fighters(rahman, fres, golota, holy).... i also dont think VK is too keen on dealing with king.....

With Don King around... nothing will be unified in the heavyweight division for a long time.

I am quite worried about that too. I am more worried about Don King taking all of the belts under his control. I wonder if he is more of a scumbag now than he was in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
