Corrie Sanders on his comeback night knocked out Alexei Varakin from Russia. Varakin was down 4 times and wasn't a real tester. He connected with some wild shots though just before Corrie finished him off with a nice left uppercut. Varakin couldn't beat the count afterwards. When the doctor asked him if he saw his finger Varakin answered "Wednesday". :D

Sanders was out of shape again and only showed glimpses of his genius. His reflexes are still working and he has this sneaky left hand that has some serious power. But he stood tall during the whole fight and was slower than he used to be.

What do you guys think: Can Corrie Sanders fight his way to one last big payday or is he just shot and should finally retire?

Ruslan Chagaev KOed the american HW Tommy Connelly in the 2nd round.

The main event between Konstantin Onofrei and Taras Bidenko is coming up.

In fact I think some of you might be able to see it live on British Eurosport. The event is taking place in the Freizeit Arena in Sölden.

Btw: I really believe Ruslan Chagaev needs to step up in competition. He's been knocking out bums for quit a while now. For example he beat Sedrick Fields ... twice.

I would love to see Corey Sanders in shape/out of shape who cares against Johnny Ruiz...just one left hand may be able to hurt Ruiz bad enough to stop him...if you are going to beat Sanders you have to first prove that you can take a bit of leather...can Johnny take that kind of leather, man I hope not!

I think when Ruiz retires he should go on the road and let fight fans break his nose for 1K a pop. It would kinda be like a duck tank, except he just stands there and you get to put one on him straight to that nose of his...I would pay 1k to do that, man there is nothing I love to see more than Johnny's nose busted-I loved it when they interviewed Rock before his fight with Ruiz and asked him what his game plan was...Rock said "break his nose" unfortunately Rock is a better talker than a fighter.

Does anyone else want to break Johnny's nose?

Taras Bidenko TKOed Konstantin Onofrei in the 7th because Onofreis corner threw in thew towel. Onofrei was very hurt by a hard left shot to the body and got down on a relayed reaction. Bidenko was clearly the better fighter and is now the new WBO Intercontinental and German International Heavyweight Champion. Which sadly doesn't mean a thing.

The commentater btw. made me laugh when the camera showed a lady in the crowd and he said sth. like this "Now that must be Bidenkos daughter. Alright lets make it his girlfriend." :D

Corrie is always out of shape though but appears as if he was 1 lb heavier than he was against Vitali, but then again he weighed in with his clothes on for that fight. Unless he weighed in with clothes for this fight, Sanders is finished.

Im suprised Sanders is back, I thought he was done after the Klitschko fight.

Who knows, with that nasty punching power Sanders has he could still be major player among the heavyweights. However, I too wish that he would get in better shape if he is still serious about his boxing future because when he is out of shape he is just a one trick pony.

I wouldnt mind seeing Sanders fight sometime but I dont think he deserves a title shot, unless he KOs a few decent guys. Then maybe they could put him in against Ruiz or Brewster.

Even though Corrie put in a couragous effort against Vitali i definatly think he should have stayed retired. His lack of stamina and conditioning is terrible. If he can work on it he maybe a threat but i just hope he hasn't come back with the hopes of fighting and beating Vitali because it ain't going to happen.

I want to see him fight brewster.
If you can keep your fights to 3 rounds max, why not be a tub of lard? It can work for Sanders IMO as long as he finishes the job early.

but if sanders cant you get out of there in 3 rounds, he's a dead duck... look at his fight with rahman... lame-ass brewster is actually durable enough to probably beat sanders...

He looks OK for a 40 year old.

Why doesn't this guy just commit himself to getting in shape. He could really be a dominating force in today's era of heavyweight's. He could also make millions because the boxing public like's a knock-out artist like himself.

plain and simple hes too old
if he does manage to get into shape
it will drain him
just let the guy go
no matter how good of shape he manages to get into, he still wont be able to beat the best guys

Sanders is back to the land of journeyman. He still has sneaky speed with his left hand and good power but that's it. He leaves himself wide open and got clocked by some hard shots by this kid before countering with an uppercut that knocked him out. He's not as fast as he used to be. His legs seem fairly shot as well. He couldn't beat any of the titleholders, including Brewster. Wlad better look for a rematch b/c I actually see him having a shot against the fat old man . . .

I think that he might get some force from the weight...
maybe it's like his power source, his gas tank :D

Great news.

That Russian is the sort of guy Tyson should be fighting. ;)
