joe fraizer was an amazing boxer, liston was great as well but joe fraizer would of destroyed sonny liston.

Frazier. He had too much heart and stamina. He'd wear him down and knock him out in the mid to late rounds.

Still, if Bonavena could hurt Frazier early (knocked him down twice in one round), Liston had a chance of doing so as well.

This is a good fight. The longer it goes, the more Frazier is favored.

I think this would be a really great and competetive fight, i
belive Frazier would win by late KO, the constant pressure from Frazier would be to much for Liston.

sonny liston was a 1960s version of big george foreman. look what happened in kingston, jamaica in 1973. liston by 2 round tko or ko.

duncanjl, i'm still waiting for your smart aleck replies!

Well you'll be getting some smart aleck replies, but they'll be from me.

Joe Frazier would evenutally wear old Sonny down. Sure, Liston was big and hit hard, but you can't compare him to Foreman. Foreman hit WAAY harder, and was much more talented. Liston was used to fighting people who were scared shitless of him. Look at Ali. Ali wasn't scared of him at all. And look what happened.

Joe's left hook was just as deadly as any of Sonny's punches. And he would punish Liston with devastating body shots. Remember, Liston didn't have a steel chin like Foreman. If Joe can land a big left hook on Foreman in the first round (who is taller than Liston), then i'm sure he could hit Liston with one, and it would have a toll.

Joe Frazier KO by 8.

foreman only hit a little harder than liston, and liston was more skilled. he threw fast, straight punches. yea, frazier would wear liston down in the later rounds, only if he could get past the first few! he wouldn't stand a chance. liston has knocked people out with a single jab! frazier would barely get out the gate let alone defeat liston.

Frazier would get under that long left jab of Liston by bobing and weaving but i still think Liston would be too much for him to handle, he was a Foreman with more boxing skill.

frazier owns liston for life after this fight liston eats through a straw.

how? as i said with similar matchups, heart equals nothing when you're going against a monster. frazier would not get through the second round with liston. if he did then frazier would win, but he can't so there.

Joe Frazier was tough as nails, but he would be in over his head in this one, I believe. Sonny Liston was more skilled, he hit harder and his chin was stronger. He would handle Frazier early on, outbox and slug him with that incredible left jab and his thundering right shots. A bewildered Joe Frazier sucks canvas inside of five rounds.

Sonny Liston tko4.

i agree. frazier's heart and determination would not matter at all to a man like liston who has the exact boxing skills to eat up frazier's relentless attack.

Everyone acts like Foreman has no boxing skills. He has plenty of them. Sure, Liston had more, but Foreman had more chin than Liston. Liston won most of his fights by intimidation, and Joe Frazier wasn't scared of anyone.

well, frazier wasn't scared of foreman and look at what happened. the same thing applies to liston.

Actually, Foreman is the exception. Frazier was terrified of Foreman. Foreman had destroyed Ken Norton, whom Joe liked to use as a sparring partner because Norton gave him troubles.

Frazier beat Ali once, and almost single-handedly gave Ali parkinson's in another fight. And what did Ali do to Liston? He destroyed him. Sure, Liston was out of his prime, but he still had it in him. Same with Ali, he wasn't in his prime, but he still was a great boxer. Ali didn't just sit on a ****ing couch for 3 years while he was out.

Joe Frazier KO 8.
