I quickly becoming a huge fan of UFC by far more exciting than boxing . You got it all knock out artist like Chuck Lindell. Submission gurus like Jermy Horn. Weight classes not seperated by 4lbs and can you imagine Tyson punching you with a 4 ounce glove? You're *ucked brother eating thru a feeding tube for the rest of your days.

I DEFINITELY prefer boxing...UFC might as well be straight up streetfighting...I can't get with that. Tried to watch it a couple of times, but I couldn't get into it.

Dam right they just turn into wrestling matches. It's fukin boring when they are on the ground just holding. They hold so much that they even rival John Ruiz. Ok i'm not sayin UFC sucks but I don't see myself paying to see a UFC fight. Boxing is definetly Better.

It's all good fighting is fighting but you get a lot more from UFC (alternative fighting) and if you like seeing folks getting KTFO then you have to catch Lindell fighting. Wrestling ain't all that boring when you're snap peoples limps and joints in few places. Some may say the same about boxers like Wright are boring. I love fighting of any kind (except for John Ruiz).

everytime I watch UFC they either stand around for hours throwing jabs that never land or they're making out on the floor

both are pretty cool and UFC is actually BRUTAL, but ill go with what ive known for a while: boxing.

ottoevans
08-25-2005, 05:36 PM
there have been some eciting UFC fights

but most of wat ive seen is they throw a few jabs and then they wrestle down to the floor where one guy has his nuts on sum guys face and they start to breath hard and they get stuck there more 5 min.

If I had to choose, I choose boxing, I don't care too much for the "ground and pound" technique or the grappling moves...i don't see much sport in choking a guy out, breaking their arm, or sitting on a fools chest half naked elbowing him in the face...

Boxing is far superior in regard to skill. I really don't get into watching them roll around on the floor or being able to kick a man when he is down.

i just saw the replay of matt hughes and trigg again. hughes is champ and was basically out while trigg was on top of him pounding him. next thing you know hughes is on his back and choking him out. that was pretty dramatic.

To the untrained eye it looks just like two muscular men hugging, uh chippendales come to mind(lol) but I think both require comparable skills, I personally prefer Muay Thai over both just w/o the knees it becomes just like boxing when both combatants just end up clinching and throwing knees sorta like boxers clinching and throwing non effective arm punches to the body.

The money is in boxing. If the UFC, K1 etc. guys are so bad why don't they switch sports and cash in by knocking out Byrd or Klitschko? Boxing is an art and the last great sport. All the rest are grown men playing childrens' games

The only thing about thinking Tyson could do that, is looking at the style of fights.

Even a lot of punchers in the UFC know how to adapt to take down and how to expect them and look out for them.

If they all just trained in punching and not know anything else, they would probabaly be a bit less impressive.

If Tyson started out in the UFC would he have the same power? maybe.. but it's probably a very slim chance due to all of the other mma styles he would have to learn to adapt to, and if he didn't well he would get KTFO son!

Boxing FOR SURE. I like the fact how they are in a cage and when the ref goes "lets get it on" it pumps me up but the fights are too boring towards the mid-late of the rounds, it turns into a wrestling match on the ground with some punches. Too boring imo.

UFC certainly has its exitement but when you are anticipating the start of an interesting championship bout you end up watching two grown men cuddling on the floor(ok its probably a skill in itsself but who wants to watch that pish)

UFC is a terrible sport to watch, its very rare you see someone with good stand up ability. They just go to ground and wrestle which wouldnt even happen in a street fight because your likely to get parts of your face bitten off. I've done a lot of Muay Thai and Kickboxing then switched to boxing, people think that if you can attack with more parts of the body its better, i even thought that until i realised you legs are for taking you in and out of the action and your fists are for KO'ing people. When i started boxing i couldnt believe how much i needed to improve on my stand up fighting. Even when you get a decent stand up fighter in UFC you just get a very long stand off of because of the kicking.

even though the ufc fighters now are more well conditioned and technically better than when it first came out.....the recent ones lost it's spirit...remember when it was: no weight classes, no time limits, no rules? that reflected more of real world applications....

Truth is there are boring boxing matches and boring ufc matches. The great thing about a UFC or Pride card is there are 5 or 6 fights and not just your typical main event and a couple of crapp undercards like in boxing. I like both. I probably like boxing better, but UFC is gaining in popularity. It will probably surpass boxing in popularity soon with all the free tv exposure.

I still will take a corrales/castillo fight anyday, but we all know how often those happen. On a side note, during UFC 54 i saw two people leave on stretchers if that means anything

maybe because most are martial artist and would like to practice martial art.

i've been in the game since i was 4 and have been on both sides of the spectrum. watching gives no justice as to how brutal and technical you have to be to do mma competitions. i love it when boxers come and challenge mma guys then find out that they can't punch when they get tackled on the ground...or start putting their gaurd down after getting leg kicked a bunch of times on the thigh.

boxings great but you got to appreciate te whole 'game' brotha...

MMA fighters, Kickboxers, Muay Thai Fighters are all more rounded then ****ing Boxers the closest thing you can get to a real fight is MMA It Incorperates more.

About money yeah they dont make as much state side go to Japan and see how big it is they average 30,000 people in the stands then additional cash from Sponsers and besides how long has MMA been around?? since the Late 80's while on the other hand Boxing has been established for years now.

and finally Jens was a wrestler first and foremost he didnt fair well in Boxing because he never focused Solely on Boxing he tried different things and Rounded his game and thats why hes a good MMA fighter...Jackass

first of all.. ufc sucks. pride is way better in terms of mma. i think stand up fighting is more exciting than grappling since a lot of grapplers suck. when you get two skilled grapplers that's when it gets interesting. a lot (not all) of mma grapplers aren't even that flexible; stretch once in a while dammit. they just lay on the ground. i like pride because the fighters are more skilled than ufc, it's a bigger event, and they restart the fighters in the center of the ring when the action is stalled. overall, i think boxing is more exciting than mma because stand up fighting is more exciting.

to an amateur boxing fan who watches a 'slow paced' fight they see it as boring...to the person who truly understands boxing he sees little nuances like strategy, distance, etc.....to a person who doesn't know mma all they see is two guys rolling on the ground...to the experienced person they see a lot of strategy involving positioning onesself for the 'kill move'.

plainly stated...'you can't appreciate a french movie if you don't know french'

Boxing was a gentleman's sport and still is. And boxing has a glorious list of legendz to live up to. For me, I'd say I love both MMA and Boxing, however, boxing is very exciting, it stays standup, and has much more potential for an exciting KO. UFC has a lot of grappling which is an art of its own, but for true thrill value, nothing beats a "great fight" in the Ring of Legends.

UFC sucks, Boxing. I originally was more of a boxing fan than the UFC, but the UFC is growing like crazy while boxing is staying stagnant. There have been some very good fights in UFC. Trigg vs Hughes II & Bonnar vs Griffin are two of the better fights you will see whether you watch boxing or UFC. Now it seems like the tide is starting to turn UFC on ****e is getting better ratings than FNF or TNF. More celebrities are getting involved by going to UFC matches. Don't get me wrong there is nothing in sports better than a Castillo vs Corrales or a Holyfield vs Bowe boxing match but UFC is far from sucking. While UFC is showing good fights on free TV & there "big cards" are a reasonable 29.95 Don King & other crooks are charging over 40$ for ****ty fights like Barrett vs Rahman and Mercer vs Briggs. UFC might not be a better sport than boxing but the sport is ran far better than boxing. Boxing is to cutthroat & crooked while UFC just wants to put the best fights together & please the fans.

Personally I find UFC to be rather boring the majority of the time..it usually devolves to a wrestling match which is really dull to watch...I have watched K1 and a little kickboxing and would prefer that to UFC...haven't caught any Pride stuff so far..one side note is that the UFC reality show is great even though the matches at the end can be boring but overall the show has the intensity that both boxing shows have lacked so far...plus, most of the guys on the show (at least last season) seem just a wee bit crazy which makes the show more entertaining
